  1. i think my husband is beginning to be abusive, emotionally and physically. it has nothing to do with visa. my visa is only conditional and we need to go back after 2 yrs ofmarriage to the interviewer. i dont know where to go and i dont know what to do. my son is already here so if i go back to my country i will be bringing him back again. dont be so one sided in accusing it is always the fiance who is making trouble. to give up our roots and everything we had..for what? for this? is it worth it?

just tonight he beat me on my lower arms and told me he could kill me. is it worth it? dying here ..for a visa?

  2. 500 is too much, 200 is enough for one person and that would fetch the electricity groceries and clothes the ones she lost.

i worked online before my salary was just 12500 (350 dollars?) a month and i paid for the electricity groceries and a little bit set aside for my needs. i lived in the south, davao, but it is a city and not a province. province is a lot lot cheaper, nothing to go to,nothing to buy, nothing to do.

someone mentioned eastwood libis, that is in manila, a different issue altogether. kind of like comparing new york lifestyle to some small towns/cities in the u.s.

  3. my k2 son (10 yrs old) arrived on august and it is already november, im scared that i misunderstood some of the information i read online regarding the filing for aos. i already filed for my aos and i received my greencard 2-3 mos ago, but i havent filed for my son yet due to financial issues.

i read somewhere that i have a year to file for his status but then i read something else it says 90 days?

    please help :(

    thank you in advance

  4. i live here in santa ana, orange county..i wish there was a mall i could go to , to walk around in during the day. uscis emailed me saying they will send me my employment card a month from now, i hope i can get a job soon. ive been crying at night..lol. kind of homesick and a lot of other things.

lauracf and chrisparty: i will try that , thank you.

scott: not a lot of them here, and it seems the one i come across to arent very friendly or you know, they dont take too kindly to people who just got here. im kind of used to that behavior so its not a surprise to me.

lynndy: it seems like that to me, to be honest.

harpa: i did some research and i saw good museums, etc from google.com

darnell: he goes to work really early, because he works in los angeles

  5. ive been here in california since february and to be honest i havent gone anywhere without my husband. its great if he even likes to take me out on walks but the only time we go out is when we meet his friends or if i ask him to, and he appears to dislike it. he doesnt like standing when i go to look for clothes. the only clothes i brought were for winter because he said we should buy summer clothes here. anyway before we got married he had his own life..hed do his own thing and he doesnt let anyone tell him what to do, even me.

anyway i want to go out alone, just walk around the neighbourhood. but his parents told me dont do it cause it isnt safe. it looks like a safe neighbourhood so i dont know what they are talking about. i do listen to them though i cant afford being hurt or needing medical help right now, so i want to play it safe.

that said, i want to roam aroudn. im stuck in the house all day doing my husbands chores. i cant work yet. i want to go to the grocery on my own but i dont know how. ive been told merely stepping out 20-30 feet from the house is dangerous, let alone walk to a bus stop?

for other fiancees from other countries, how did you do it? i dont have friends around here. my friends are in the east coast and i am here in california, not just california but a part in california where it is really almost the middle of nowhere.

  6. Hey guys i found these 2 forms

    consent to travel with grandparent

    2. http://www.philippineconsulatela.org/NewForms2010/AffidavitOfSupportandConsent.pdf

    question

    1. how much do these cost ? can i print these at home and bring it with me to the embassy?

    2. do i still need this form http://www.philippineconsulatela.org/WEB%20MATERIALS/Legal%20SPA.pdf

    thank you in advance..

  7. hello , i have a question regarding how to bring my son here to the us, my husband and i married 3 mos ago here in california, my sons (10 yrs old) k2 to follow. he is in the philippines right now and sad to say i was not able to renew his passport on time before i left, so my father is trying to renew his passport in the philippines Department of Foreign Affairs but they are giving him a hard time saying i (the mother) need to go to the phil embassy in wilshire boulevard los angeles and fill up a form special power of attorney or SPA with this red ribbon along with it ..then send this form via fed ex or any courier.

1.)question is, what is this form called? i need to know what i ask for, because my father just told me to go to the phil embassy in los angeles and ask for a form....

2.)how much is this form ? my husband and i are willing to go to LA ( we live in orange)

3.)is there any way , from here in the u.s., that i can give my father permission to travel with my son here to the u.s.? my parents have been approved for their 25 year wait of immigrant visa lately but his entry visa will expire on august 11 so he must travel SOON

4.) is there any way DFA can just allow the renewing of my sons passport and just withold giving it until the papers arrive? it is horrible the waiting time we have to do just for this , just because i am far away

hopefully somebody can help me sad.png thank you in advance

  8. i did mine today, and i have to say

    for k1 people

    1. bring your marriage certificate if youre married, i dont remember seeing this on anywhere. its totally important if you have changed your name.

    2. make sure you are there 15 minutes or so before your time so you can get out early, they wont make you wait..first come first serve

    3. of course, bring your passport

    4. there were no fees involved

    5. make sure your hands are clean and free of dirt, oil , any cosmetic

    6. the photo person isnt going to give you time to put on makeup or lipstick or fix your hair, so better do all of that prior to the photo shoot. i thought i had time to put on lipstick hahaha..oh well.

the uscis here in orange county was kinda busy, overall took me about 30 mins or something. people seem basically friendly.

  9. thank you very very much hank, i am just sitting here praying for a response from anyone and i am very grateful for your help.

i would like to ask these questions too please, i am stumped :/

on part 1 of the form, which should i select for my husband?

a)petitioner, filed or filing for the immigration of relative?

d)i am the only joint sponsor

e)i am the first second of two joint sponsors

also.. my fiancee and i got married last march , do i put my new married name on the Part 2 information on the principal immigrant or should i put my maiden name?

    Thank you again

    -ann

  10. hi guys i am sorry for my long over detailed post above so i am just gonna summarize it again..pls help :help: thank you in advance

hi guys, i have been currently following mysliceofamericanpie (Stephanie)'s blog regarding the AOS step by step guide

in this guide there are these 2 forms

    11. I-864 – Affidavit of Support +tax returns, employment letter, bank statement, pay stubs and proof of citizenship

    12. I-864 – Affidavit of Support (Co-Sponsor, if needed) + Most recent tax returns and proof of citizenship

so i was wondering where should i put my name and my sons name? my husband and i need a co sponsor so, should i put my name on my father in laws form (he is our co sponsor) and put my sons name on my husbands form?

about the co sponsor thing, i know a lot of people here frown about that saying why do u bother to get married etc if u dont have money, well we are in a transition phase in our relationship right now but it is only temporary as he had to undergo sudden medical treatment last year. sigh :/ im optimistic things will get better in the months to come.

thank you very much in advance, i am the one 90% trying to arrange these papers on my own..and visajourney has been a great great help.

this is stephanies guide from her blog, mysliceofamericanpie, i cant post the link here cause i am not a longtime vj poster, but here is the rest of the guide

My Adjustment of Status (AOS) Guide

    adjustment of status

I know it’s silly to be this prepared even if I haven’t even left for the US yet, but if there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I like to be prepared and organized. Now I have made a little guide for preparing the AOS packet. Tim and I don’t plan on using a lawyer, as we were successful the first time around just doing it on our own, and we plan on doing the same here. Keep in mind that this is my guide, I haven’t actually gone through this yet but these are the steps I will follow based on a lot of other guides that I have combined. Of course I will be updating and editing it as I go along, and will blog about each experience as I go through it. This guide is only for preparing the AOS packet, I am still clueless about what comes next, so that will also be something that I will just talk about as it actually happens. Also, the sequence of events is just what I want to follow because this is what’s convenient for me, feel free to do as you please.

If anyone who has been through AOS ends up reading this and has some input/corrections, please feel free to let me know :) Again, I would just like to reiterate to other readers to please do their own research as well, and not to rely on this alone. :)

[EDIT: I also wrote a more updated post about this on VJ, if anyone would like to see: K1 LIFE AFTER POE]

    Okay here goes:

    1. POE (Port of Entry)

    - My POE will be the SFO Airport on February 21st. Don’t forget to bring the brown envelope from the embassy and hand it to the immigration officer, together with your i-94. Make sure all details on the i-94 are written legibly and correctly. Also, do not leave the airport without checking if all the details on your i-94 is correct (date of stamp etc) and do not lose your i-94 as this is needed for AOS :)

    2. GET A MARRIAGE LICENSE

Check your state laws for the requirements to get married.. Go to your local town clerk to get the license. Tim and I will go to the Northfield, VT town clerk sometime in February. :)

    3. GET A SSN

K1 visa holders are allowed to get a SSN as long as they still have a valid i-94. It is recommended to go 10-14 days upon entry so that by then you should already be registered in the database. Now I have been told that there are some SSA who are clueless about k1 visa holders and refuse to give them the SSN until you have your green card. This is FALSE, and if this happens, ask for higher management and demand for it, because you are entitled to one. We will do this the 1st week of March.. sometimes they require a SSN to get a license, so you may want to interchange 2 and 3 if that is the case. :)

    4. FIND A CIVIL SURGEON

Only if your DS-3025 is marked “incomplete” is a I-693 required to be completed. If it is marked as such (incomplete) you are required to complete certain portions of the I-693 and have a Civil Surgeon certify the form (and seal it in an evelope). Specifically, you will complete Part 1 (Information about you) of the I-693 and provide both the form and your DS-3025 (if you have it, proving your vaccination history) and any proof of required vaccinations that were completed prior to entering the US. If you do not have a copy of your DS-3025 you will need to provide sufficient evidence of your vaccination history to the Civil Surgeon (talk to the civil surgeon’s office to discuss what vaccination records they accept as proof). If you do not have proof of your vaccination history the Civil Surgeon may insist on re-administering all the required vaccinations prior to completing the I-693. Once the Civil Surgeon has has verified that all required vaccinations have been performed, they will complete form I-693 Part 2 (the vaccination section) and Part 5 (the Civil Surgeon’s Certification). They will then seal the form in an envelope and return it to you.

So this part is a little confusing because I have all the complete age-appropriate vaccines, and yet some people claim to have gotten RFEs for not having their I-693 transcribed so we decided that were gonna do it anyway to avoid any complications :) The trick here is to call around and find a civil surgeon who will not require you to do another medical, because your medical exam should still be valid for a whole year! It took us about 7 inquiries before we finally found one who did not make us redo the exam or overcharge us! We found one willing to do it for $25 and all we had to do was fax them my ds-3205 and then go there to pick it up a few days later :)

    5. GET MARRIED AND GET THE (certified) MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE

This is the best part of all! :D

The marriage certificate is important for AOS, so make sure you grab copies of it!

    For courier/express delivery:

    USCIS

    Attn: FBAS

    131 South Dearborn – 3rd Floor

    Chicago, IL 60603-5517

    PAYMENT

Personal checks must be pre-printed with the name of the bank and the account holder. Also, the account holder’s address and phone number must be pre-printed, typed or written in ink on the check. All checks must be typed or written in ink.

    1. Write the date you are filling out the check including: day, month and year.

    2. On the “Pay to the Order of” line write: “U.S. Department of Homeland Security.”

    3. Write in numbers the exact dollar amount of the fee for the service you are requesting. In the example, the amount is “$595.00.”

    4. Spell out the exact dollar amount of the fee for the service you are requesting. The “cents” portion of the amount should be written as a fraction over 100. In this example, the amount is “Five hundred ninety-five and 00/100.”

    5. Write a brief description of the purpose of your payment. In this example, it is “N-400 application fee.”

    6. Sign the check using your legal signature.

    IMPORTANT!

Make TWO copies of the entire package before you send it in. This includes the money orders too. You want to have a perfect replica of the package you are sending in. All Forms that you submit must be originals with original signatures. Supporting Evidence that you submit may be photocopies. Retain ALL original supporting Evidence since the USCIS has the right to check them by issuing an RFE (Request For Evidence). If you receive an RFE, follow the direction exactly, and make two copies of what you sent back. During any future interviews the USCIS may also want to examine the original supporting evidence.

    Hope that helps!!! :D

Can my son go to manila with my father along with my sons new passport and have his medical and his visa thing stamped there in the embassy with my dad or do i have to be present? When I was in the embassy for my interview I didnt bring his passport with me because my husband and i could only have 2 people in our household income.

my mom and father just got approved for their F4 immigration (which was a 22 year wait) early this year, their visa expires on august so they need to leave by august.. my mom will go ahead and my father will follow. that is why my dad can also go to the u.s., he already has his own visa.

    4. the customs officer in my point of entry told me i have only 1 yr to get my son, is that 1 yr since i arrived here in the u.s. or since the visa got approved?

    5. how much does it cost to arrange his papers here? not including the st lukes medical, the interview and the plane ticket.

    6. can my husband and i get a co-sponsor so my husband and i can reach the poverty thing enough for 3 people?
