I don't know if it's too late to reply, but, I am moving to Cleveland from the UK, and got a good quote with FedEx freight over the phone, super nice people - they have a list of what`s prohibited, etc.
Give em' a try on 0845 6070 809.
I DO NOT work for FedEx.
Good luck!

Hello VJ's,
Quick question: I have my visa and we are getting ready to travel to the US. In my application, my address is the US is of an uncle in Miami, and that's were they will send the green card; however, that's not where I will actually reside.
At the moment of the interview, I didn't have an address in the US, but now I do, and it's in Cleveland, OH.
I have no problems with them sending the GC to Miami and then having my uncle sending it to me. Is this a problem?
Thanks for the help!

Sorry to get into this forum out of nowhere! but, rascalflatt, I was there on July 2nd as well and haven't received my visa either
I am kinda relieved that's not just me, but this last stint of the "waiting game" is so annoying!!
Anyways, would you let me know when you get yours? I'll do the same
Good Luck!

Damn! lost_at_sea is on top of it!!
I am writing here just to let you know that, indeed, DCF via US Embassy in London is quick! - 3 and a half months for us from I-130 sent to Interview, and now just waiting for my passport to arrive back from the Embassy with the big fat visa stamped on it
All the best!!

Hi Laura, I'll try to help you with what i know
Form DS-230 part 1, just signed it yourself and nobody else; you are the main applicant, and for formal purposes, the kids come along with you. Send that form ONLY and nothing else. You can fill form DS-230 part 2, without signing it as you will do that in front of the US Officer on your interview. Keep form DS-230 part 2 and bring it along with all the support documentation to the Embassy once you get the interview date.
If the form has in the bottom left corner the following print: "DS-230 part I the form is correct and valid.
07-2012"
Mail the form over to:
Immigrant Visa Unit
US Embassy
24 Grosvenor Square
London W1K 6AHLast but not least, we didn't a cover letter, but if you'd like to do so and maybe explain if you need to travel on a certain date, then it's worth doing so.
Now take a deep breathe, and relax
as long as you keep all the docs organized you'll be fine. Make sure you have copies of everything as well.
Best of luck!!

I was the one on lost_at_sea's timeline with the similar question
Has my interview yesterday, and on my wife's I-864 (she's the USC), we put residence and domicile in the UK (that's where we live now), and mailing address her parents in the US - just to prove that she kept an address in the US.
We had a joint sponsor, form I-864A, who lives in the US and they are sending the GC over to that address.
-
Hi, I went through the process yesterday. My joint sponsor lives in Miami, FL and that's registered as the address I'll be living in; they are sending the actual GC over there as well.
I think if you will stay in a different address - and can prove it at POE - you should be completely fine.
-
wooohooooo!!! Visa approved yesterday!
We ended up writing my wife's parents address in "mailing address" (in the US) and all the rest our UK address, it went totally fine!

Thanks for the advice

Thanks Nich-Nick, I actually realized I had the old form a second later after posting, but couldn't edit my post. We do have now the current form - indeed, item No. 5 is Country of Domicile.
The key paragraph I guess is the following:
If I do not meet the U.S. residence requirement, can a joint sponsor file an I-864?No, if you, as the sponsor, do not qualify because you do not meet the domicile requirement, a joint sponsor cannot be used. The sponsor must first meet all of the requirements of a sponsor, including domicile in the U.S., before there can be a joint sponsor.
So, in No. 5 we'll definitely write "United States", and in Number 2 "Sponsor Mailing Address", we'll also use a US address. Only in No. 3 "Sponsor Place of Residency", we'll write UK, as that's where we live now.
As per the instructions, we DO have proof that my wife - the USC - has maintain her US domicile, so I presume we should be ok.
Still, tricky stuff imo.

Hi VJ Friends,
We are just days aways from my interview at the Embassy, and freaking out a bit about for I-864, numbers 12, 13 and 15. My wife is USC. So, in form I-864:
12. "Mailing address": should this one be our UK address?
13. "Place of Residency": should this be an address in the US? (we CAN use my wife's parents address, as she kept bank accounts in the US which mail her statements over there.
15. "Country of Domicile": is this again the US address, or the UK one?
Thanks to whoever might have the wisdom to provide us with some answers!!

We filed for DCF in London, and after the medical and sending the ppwork, we receive the letter with the interview date. We DID NOT send DS-230 part 2, I kept it with me, so I guess that's fine. (it has been confusing for all of us i guess!).
Good luck with everything
-
I've just received the letter with the interview date, only 3.5 months after sending I-130, so I say, relax and take it easy and make sure you have absolutely everything required before the next move
Also, be careful NOT to send DS-230 part II, as you have to sign it in front of an officer at the Embassy when you go for the interview.
Good luck, and yes, DCF in London moves quickly!
-
Yes! Make sure the US Consulate in Hong Kong actually processes visas through DCF, but yeah, that's definitely the way to go.
-
ah! of course
Well, all gone now...let the waiting game begin.
-
So, we are almost ready to send the I-130 package and I have one question: how does the embassy knows we are filing for DCF and not just the "regular processed" IR-1/ CR-1?
Obviously we are stating in the forms that both my wife and I live in the UK - she's american, and has been resident for 1.5 years now. Is that info enough?
-
Thanks JasMi, sent everything to get ACPO and now contacting german consulate in Barcelona to get my spanish "Certificado de Antecedente Penales"...I can feel the adrenaline pumping through my veins...
-
Thanks guys! Getting on with it as we speak (write)

My wife and I are about to start DCF and going through the requirements, they ask for police/criminal records from all the countries you have lived more than 12 months since the age of 16.
Is that absolutely necessarily, even though I've lived in the UK for the last 3 years? previously I was in Spain for 1.5 years, USA for 2.5 years and Chile for the previous 25 years - I have double citizenship (German/Chilean).
helps please! getting all those records might take me ages!

Thanks so much for your answer

Hello!
I went through the exact same process of calling pretty much every airline to find out the best way of flying with my two little panthers.
Finally we booked with Air Canada flying to the US via Toronto, no problem having the beasts in the cabin. I really hope they behave now...otherwise my wife and I will be the most unpopular passengers ever. (...here's to hoping there's a really loud baby crying all the way to Toronto!)
