I had my interview today at Dallas. I was drilled by IO because i was divorced and i was only married for a year Plus.

These were the questions after putting me under oath.

    1. What is freedom of religion

    2. What Ocean is on the West coast of america

    3. How many senators do we have

4.What year was the constitution written

    5. When must all men register for selective service

    6. Name a state that Borders Canada.

I answered all my first six questions correctly. Passed the reading test and the writing test.

Then the grilling started. You were not married for long and you were in a distance relationship. I explained that i was in school.

she asked me did i come to the United states to marry or school, i told her i came to school and i have competed the program.

She asked why didn't i move,  I explained we were already having issues by the time i finished my masters.

She then went through my application to make sure all i filled was correct, were i work, where i have stayed etc.

She then asked me to chose between Thursday or Friday to come back for my oath ceremony, i chose Thursday and she gave me back my paper work.

Every body sharing their experience has been helpful and i feel obliged to do the same. if you were divorced and you filing on the basis of 5 yrs, get ready to be drilled.

    Notes

appointment was for 1115am, stayed in the parking lot until 1050.am. I was called in at 1123 and my interview lasted for about 20min

    Wish you all the best

Wouldn't call it a grilling - just a few routine questions. Congrats though!

My interview is on Saturday. However, on Sunday evening I am leaving the country for 10 days for a work trip I had unfortunately scheduled before getting my interview notice. Assuming everything goes well at the interview, will I be able to have the oath after I come back?

  2. Hi, just got my interview notice, scheduled for June 9th. I have a few questions:

    1. I am applying after 5 years in the US as a green card holder (came to the US on a conditional green card based on marriage, divorced unfortunately, then removed conditions). Do I need to bring a copy of my divorce decree with me? Or should it be an original copy?

    2. I have 5 years of tax returns - is that enough?

    3. Should I bring my current marriage certificate (I am happily remarried with two beautiful daughters)?

    4. How can I find out when will my oath be? I am scheduled to travel for work obroad June 10th-18th.

    5. Is there anything I am missing?

    Thanks a lot!

  3. Hi,

i have a green card based on marriage. I divorced and then I adjusted status and now I have a 10 year green card.

    T

it's been 6 years since I moved to the US and I am ready to apply for citizenship.

do you have a link to the most updated N-400 form for me?

also, I plan to attach the following:

    application

    copy of divorce decree

    tax returns for 2016,2015,2014

extra sheet with all my trips abroad

copy of passport and green card

    am I forgetting anything?

thank you for helping me with my sanity check!

  4. Hi folks,

    one question for you:

I came to the US with a conditional green card granted because of marriage to a US citizen. We divorced before I could remove conditions, but I went through all the painful process, got an interview, and was granted a 10 year green card. Now I am getting ready to apply for US citizenship.

Question: what documents should I send related to my ex wife (as you can imagine, I have none)? Just a copy of the divorce decree? Would that suffice?

    Thanks

  5. Hi there,

I plan to file this week! Could you help me out with a couple of things?

    1. For all my previous address, is the "+4" part of the zip code necessary?

    2. I have traveled for 250 days outside the US (for work and leisure) in the past 5 years 6 months (I have been a GC holder for so long, removed conditions after divorce). Never for more than 6 months at a time. Will it be ok?

    3. Do I have to include a copy of my divorce decree? I am remarried (to another US citizen) as well.

    4. Is the latest form on the USCIS website good?

    5. DId you all file with a lawyer or not? I plan not to, is it wise? Did you include any letter with your filing?

    Thanks a lot!

  6. Hi all. Work and stresses meant I drifted away from this site. I filed my I-751 in late July and following the Biometric session in October I now have a I-797e (dated March 11th but received around the 25th).

The further evidence we were asked to provide is about commingling of assets, which we really haven't done much. We have a semi shared bank account system, where my wife can dip into my checking account if needed but since we both earn a reasonable amount we don't need to much. We both wanted to be accountable for our own spending to a degree, and this is probably going to come back and haunt us.

I don't drive so the car is hers, we rent so no house, purchases were made by one of us either for the other or not (hard to prove). Arrrggh the obvious thing is to travel back in time and just dump all the cash together...

Plan is to get a letter from the credit union to explain how the account works, and to provide a cover letter detailing why we made that choice. Does this sound sensible? It seems odd that mixing cash should be a requirement for a visa, but then it wouldn't be as odd as the essential TB check for people moving from the UK.

You'll be alright. Stop panicking :)

  7. Hi! I see from your timelines that I'm in a strange position.

My processing center is Vermont and local UCSIS is in South Florida. I filed I-751 with a divorce waiver in October 2011 (!!) and received my biometrics appt in December 2011. Then a year passed and I received my interview appointment for Oct 29 2012 but I had to reschedule. I went in for InfoPass appt and asked to reschedule and it seemingly went alright. I haven't received any confirmation though and I was so scared to ask for a reschedule that I forgot to ask for any. I had to make another appt to get a stamp in my passport a week after and again asked about reschedule. The officer couldn't find anything in my case so he made another request and AGAIN I didn't ask for any confirmation. Since then I haven't received anything and it's been 5 months. All in all my i-751 process is taking a year and a half to the date.

To make matters worse i moved in December to Rhode Island. I decided not to change my address yet cause I was hoping to receive my new interview appt anytime now. And I knew that changing address moves you to the back of the line. So that just adds to my anxiety.

I called them a few times. First, they just told me that rescheduling takes about three months and I should just wait. I called today and it seems like they can't even find my case anymore. They gave me 15 days timeline to get a reply from them and a confirmation number this time.

I was moderately worried before but now I see how fast everybody's been getting their cards in the mail and I'm worried sick. To make matters worse my ex husband told me (a long while ago, about 19 months ago) that he went to the USCIS and said that our marriage was a fraud. And that there was some adjudication regarding his person. BUT I have no way of knowing whether it's all just talk (he has a free way with reality) or there is some huge red flag on my case file. I'm thinking that if that was true I would've already been contacted by USCIS at the very least as a witness, correct? Not to mention that they would want to deport me...

So, what are your thoughts? Does anybody else have such a long journey? Or maybe you know that smth has been going on in the immigration department cause of the budget cuts? Please, give me some comfort :/

Just be patient - nothing else you cand do. I-751 waivers are very rarely denied.
