One just has to remember the USA sees you as only a USA citizen and Canada is like, ok whatever, your outfit matches, you have no guns on ya, please come on in!!

Canada does allow, recognize -- and even encourage -- multiple citizenship.

The United States does not prohibit it, does not recognize it, and does not encourage it.

Thus, a Canadian citizen who is also a US citizen can travel exclusively with their US passport. It doesn't work the other way around.

What's required is that you identify yourself as a Canadian citizen to authorities upon request. That doesn't imply even having a Canadian passport; it's in fact similar to the requirement of a US citizen to identify themselves to law enforcement, despite the fact that there is no law in the United States that would require a US citizen to carry any form of ID on them (yay!).

So you can travel with your Nexus card, your US passport (not even needed), and upon request tell the Canadian border patrol that you are a Canadian citizen as well.

Thank you! When my NEXUS card said Canadian Citizen the American border guards would always want to see my green card (and sometimes they were quite rude about it). My rationale with the card was change the citizenship to US and avoid that situation specifically. After reading everyone's comments I feel this was the right choice and once I get my US passport I'll be set to bring both with me.

Over the holidays I will be crossing the border (land) for the first time as a Dual Citizen. I will be bringing my Canadian passport, enhanced US driver's license, and NEXUS card (US issued). I'm a bit confused with how the NEXUS situation will work since it appears I can only list one citizenship. Since it's states my citizenship is US, should I give my Canadian passport to the border guard as well? Any other information that would be helpful? I read somewhere that I should be entering each respective country as a citizen (going to Canada, Canadian - going to the US, American).

I kept a journal of the last days which helped just get all of my emotions out. It was hard at first because everything just seems different, it will get better!

Worst part for me on my way to the ferry and 'Life is a Highway' came on the radio, BAWLING!

Finally got my interview letter. Crossing my fingers that I'll have a same day oath ceremony...

I wish I didn't have to but I'm inclined to go. They made me wait 10 weeks before scheduling the second appointment. Even then it took me calling 8+ times in one weekd for them to say 'hey, something's not right' -- which was they had me as a no show in their system.

I was scheduled for a second Biotmetrics appointment tomorrow and I just received an email that states: Your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization is currently under review. You should receive a decision or notice of other action within 60 days of the date of this letter.

Should I go to the appointment tomorrow?

Reasons not to go:

• FBI Biometrics confirmed that my fingerprints and background check were successful and sent back to my FO
  
• USCIS Tier 2 rep said she found my initial biometrics results in their system (which prompted email above)
  
• Other then being told I never showed up to my inital appointment (which I did), I have been given no other reason for the 2nd appointment
  

Reasons to go:

• Check in and make sure that the 2nd Biometrics isn't needed

I simply got copies, not notarized,of paid tickets and took them to the interview

Also expect actual letter in 2 to 4 weeks! Hang in there

If I've already provided notarized originals, do I have to provide them again? I'm stumped as to what additional evidence there could be that I haven't already submitted. Unless they just didn't go through my evidence.

I have my 2nd Biometrics in 2 weeks I wish it was my interview.

I received a yellow notice yesterday to provide additional documents at my interview (which has yet to be scheduled )

The documents that they want me to bring are relatively benign, for question 16D I answered yes because I had been cited for 2 speeding tickets while in the US. I went to the courthouse and received notarized copies of my dockets and provided them with my N-400 (they prove both ticket's were paid). Unfortunately, I realized after the fact that I sent in the original copies of the dockets with my application. So...

Do I go out and get two more notarized copies to show my speeding tickets were paid?

or

At my interview do I tell the IO that the original documents are included with my application?

We have similar case,i called them yesterday and told jus wait,checked online today it said i am placed line for interview schedule,3 months exactly today that i had my biometrics. I will just wait for my letter to come in the mail that is what she told me last week, a week to be placed in line for interview and up to 3 weeks to get the interview letter.

I called again and the agent was able to verify that I need to go back in and get my biometrics redone.

He wasn't able to say why, whether my FO has incorrect information or my fingerprints were rejected not sure. I should be receiving a notice with my new time and day this week.

Is there anyone I can talk to above Teir 2?

• I called last week to get a status update and specifically ask if my Biometrics was in their system, they said yes. I was advised this process would take 6 - 8 months
  
• I received an email today that said I had not attended my Biometrics appointment and that my application had been re-submitted
  
• I called today and was told I was actually placed in line for interview today but will not see it reflected on 'My case status' until my interview has been scheduled.
  

Call me crazy but how can I believe a word they are saying if I've had so many different answers.

Have you tried the InfoPass option? I am not sure if the immigration office is near-by you so you can take advantage of InfoPass appointment. I personally don't have experience with InfoPass but maybe it doesn't hurt to set one up and ask questions. Sorry about your situation and I hope things work out for you soon.

I wonder what the difference is between an InfoPass and speaking with a Tier 2 Rep? If I haven't heard anything by the first week of August I should make an appointment. It's hard because I work M - F so I'd need to take time off to deal with this.

Someone that filed in May has an interview date at the Seattle office

I called a tier 2 rep again today and they said that the standard timeline for all N400 applications is "technically" 6 - 8 months. Which I really don't understand if this is the case why are they also telling me to call back after 5 months because that means my application is "beyond" the processing time on their website?

Anyways, they have my biometrics in their system so I'm not sure what the heck is going on. I'll call back again next week and every week until the end of August - then I'll start calling every day

Justdazed-- Well today i called USCIS and requested to talk to TIER 2 and she checked on my status and told me that i didnt go for my biometrics yet which was April 24 and told her that i went and is already done,so she put me on hold for a while and told me she found it but my biometrics wasnt uploaded to there system and will not be able to generate interview schedule bec info is not there. She said to wait for a week for the system to be uploaded and 3 weeks to get a letter for interview.

Hope you hear something from them soon.

I don't know if it's normal but it's been 2 months since my biometrics and I haven't heard a peep about my interview. I called USCIS and asked to speak to a tier 2 customer service representative. That was meh, she was super nice but they can't do any real "digging" until I'm over my processing time. She did though request an update on my application (i.e. where it is right now in processing). I'm 30 days shy of being over my the processing timeframe for the Seattle field office, I'm interested to see how this is handled and what seems to by delaying my application.

For now I'm patiently waiting but it's very, very, frusturating.

My wife completed her Naturalization Biometrics at the Chatsworth, California facility on July 03, 2012. The question is how long will it take for the Los Angeles office to send her a notice for the interview??? When can we expect that notice???

Per the USCIS website, the LA office is now processing N400 applications filed Nov 2011. Every field office is different, it could take 8 months or it could be faster to process your particular application.

I had my Bio May 17 and I'm still waiting to be placed in line for interview...

Did you connect with Tier 2 rep when you called USCIS? Did you tell them that folks who have filed after you have been scheduled for interview? Do you have anything on your application that requires further scrutiny and background checks? Sometime this can be the cause of delay.

I didn't ask for a Tier 2 rep but I did explain that I have good reason to believe this is taking longer then it should. The only things I can think of that may be holding up my application is I submitted information on my two speeding tickets, and I just filed for FASFA (they have to verify my status in the USA with USCIS).

If in two weeks I still haven't received anything it wouldn't hurt to call back and ask for a Tier 2 rep. The obvious impression though was they wont life a finger until my application is outside the normal processing times.

Check the timeline for your DO and if you think you are delayed beyond normal range for your DO, than make an infopass and check with DO what's holding up. If they are not useful, call Senator or congressman ask them to findout the status. Good luck

What is DO?

My application is still 60 days under the normal processing time for my field office (Seattle). However, in our timeline both fellow Seattleite's had their interview within 2 months of their Bio. In 2 weeks it will be 2 months since my Bio...

Keep waiting I guess.
