Here I am again after dealing with an unique situation. Last month I had posted in this group about mistake in my US passport. I realized that after submitting my OCI application. Everything was done...payment, uploading all the documents, photograph, courier labels. But just a day before sending the physical documents I found a mistake in my US Passport. I wrote to VFS & I had been informed that if I don't submit the physical documents my application expires & I can ask for refund.  That has been done, I got my refund as per their refund policy. Now I am trying to create a new application under same name, email id & I keep getting message that "User already exists". And if I try to login with previously created id & password and try to "Add a new customer" with old GRN number its giving me this message - 

• Government reference number is not valid. Please recheck if its correctly entered or belongs to the correct Consular Jurisdiction

I don't know what to do. Has anybody tried to reapply for OCI the second time? After first application expired?

I thought about it. But if my visa gets stamped on that US passport, I would never be able to correct that mistake. Also, just received a reply from VFS global. If I don’t submit my documents in 21 days, my application automatically gets rejected & they issue a refund. That would be a better option.

In my US passport its printed New York, USA!😳 Because I made a mistake in my passport application, I wrote my current city Huntington Station NY instead of my birth city.

I was all set to submit my OCI application to sent it through Fadex & just then my son checks my US passport & tells me that my Place of birth is printed wrong. I was shocked. I went n checked a copy of my application for US passport & it was me who had typed wrong place of birth. Now I will have to make a new application for correction in my US passport and according to their website it will take anything between 8-10 weeks. Now my question is, I have already paid for OCI application, my courier label is also printed in that case how long I can hold my application? Any idea? I also have enquired with VFS Global, but not sure when would I receive reply from them.

Some tips before you even start anything .IT's a long process..

Scan and keep all the docs in pdf format less than 1000KB .(there will be ton of docs u need to scan and keep the soft copies)

Keep the photo image scanned or digital copy less than 500KB 

Keep the signature adjusted to 1:3 ration less than 500 KB.

Plan to get Notary if you applying for any minors 

Recommend to use VFS courier services for ease of completing the process .

if all the scans are ready each application should not take more than 30 mins to an hour to complete . 

It took few days for me collect and keep the docs organized in scanned format once thats done rest are ok to manage 

 

 

 

Thanks for all the tips. It’s really helpful. But I already have finished submitting the application online. And just finished gathering all the prints of required documents. I did opt for VFS courier service. But when I tried to print labels, I could see only one label. For renunciation I remember getting two separate labels for sending n receiving. Did you also experience this?  Did you send your  original US passport? What about renunciation certificate? Copy only right?

Hi, I received my renunciation certificate yesterday. I didn’t track it at all. I almost had forgotten that I had applied for it!😅  Now journey for OCI card begins! Any suggestions?😃

I also had same confusion. I filled my Indian Passport on top as well as bottom.

I am almost at the end of my immigration journey. I just received my US passport yesterday. Now I am trying to go to next level, renunciation of my Indian passport/citizenship. I have been trying to fill the application online with the service provider VFS Global website. I am getting stuck on next page where it says "Add Customer". It's little confusing. The first thing its asking me is Govt Reference Number (ARN). WHERE DO I FIND THIS NUMBER? If anyone is able to help me with this, I would be able to go to next step in my application.  Thank you in advance.

My son's interview is scheduled on March 3rd at Mumbai consulate. I would like to avail VFS Stars & Stripes Lounge services at Mumbai for him. How to register for these services? If anyone could answer this question, it would be of great help. I had availed these services during my K1 interview in 2013. I absolutely do not have any clue how I had processed it.

if he was over 18 when you got your citizenship then he will have to wait until he has been a resident for 5 years to apply for his citizenship.

 

certificate of citizenship is a document that proves you are a us citizen.

He was under 18 when I got my citizenship, but his green card had expired as we had a joint custody & my son was living with his maternal grand parents. I had to file I-130 for him. Now he lives with me & has his green card.

I am a US citizen. Divorced & now remarried. My biological son came to US in 2015 under IR-2 category. Presently he is living with us. We have his green card received on July 26, 2015. Is he eligible for applying for citizenship? I am little confused right now. What is a Certificate of Citizenship means? I need some information on how my son (being a USC's biological son) can become a US citizen.

I have a question. My bio metrics appointment is done on Nov 15. I was just wondering, what actually happens after that. I did receive a letter saying that status is extended for another year, but my physical green card does have a expiry date as 01/10/2017. do they send a new green card with extended expiry date? and after one year from now, whats next?

My bio-metrics is done, I could finish the whole process in just 15 minutes. everything went well. now waiting for next step.

Has anyone received their biometrics letter yet? I'm getting concerned since I got my NOA almost a month ago. Should I call?

I received mine two days back. Its on Nov 15th.

I do not think USCIS goes so harsh if you are early by 1-2 days. But yes if you are early way before (like more than a week), then they will definitely return your application. Anyway, Good luck to you

Yup...my case has been accepted & I got a Receipt Notice today! Is this a NOA1???? My conditional resident status is extended for a period of one year!

My check got cashed from Vermont Service Center, its reflecting in my account. Waiting for NOA1
