  1. Hi! If you're planning to send your ROM application through mail here's what I did.

4 ROM forms notarized (make sure to write her name in her maiden name)

Passport picture of husband and wife.

1 certified true copy of Marriage license notarized and 4 photocopies.

1 certified true copy of birth certificate notarized and 4 photocopies of the husband and the wife.

1 certified true copy of passport notarized and 4 photocopies of the husband and the wife.

    Fee and return envelope

***if more than 90 days of marriage then you need to send Affidavit of Late Registration of Marriage (notarized)

We didn't send any original documents husband is worried original might get lost in the mail. We were lucky our bank notarized our documents for free. I have my GC when I applied for ROM which really doesn't matter if she does or doesnt based on my experience. The application process was just 3 days, we received one ROM form sealed and signed and one photocopy marriage license, passport and our birth cert stapled. Then she can apply passport renewal, which I'm planning to do my passport renewal in the Philippines only takes 2 weeks than here in the US takes 2-4months. Hope this helps

  2. Hi everyone I just hit a snag :help: while researching how to change the name of my wife's passport to her married name. I am gathering all the documents together and according to the PHILIPPINE CONSULATE HONOLULU website, along with "The Report of Marriage" a certain document is needed when applying for a passport to change name.

"Proof that applicant has not applied for foreign citizenship, e.g. resident alien card"

Can someone explain to me some examples of these proofs that are needed, such as the resident alien card that I bring to the consulate. My wife is here on a K-1 Visa, we just got married on March 15,2014 within the 90 day time limit, SSN name is being changed tomorrow, and AOS forms will be mailed next week to USCIS.

I want to update her passport in the meantime while waiting for the AOS to be reviewed, so we can go on a trip to the Philippines with the AP (I-131) I applied for with the AOS, around October. I just want to make it easier getting through customs and the whole ticket reservations process.

Through my research I understand as long as you have a unexpired passport even with her maiden name, the AP, and marriage certificate you still can travel without worries. But I feel more comfortable if passport matched all her other documents.

Once again thanks for all your help and ALOHA!!! :goofy:

  3. Hi VJs! Got a quick question since my AOS is in process we got a letter that my interview maybe waived, came here as k1, and due to delay according to the letter process would take 6months. We didn't send advance parole application along with the AOS application as we thought it wouldn't take that long. Now I'm planning to send advance parole application but no date as to when I will leave. Can I send it without date filled up and reason? I want my advance parole ready in case something came up like when my grandpa passed away a month ago didn't get to go home.

  4. Hi dear, I wish I could help you with your questions about TB but I have no knowledge about it but I do know ur last question. I went through the same cause the SSN will request you any legal document to proof your new name, it has nothing to do with the visa itself. If you are filing the EAD (work authorization) with the rest of your AoS package, you can change your name once you receive it. Usually EAD arrives 60-70 days after you send your package (compare to wait for the GC that usually takes 6 to 11 month). Your I94 is still valid but your visa don't. Your visa becomes invalid in the moment you are allow to enter to the US (just 1 entry)

Thanks for your clarifying the SSn question Andrea&Henry. I appreciate it a lot.

  5. Hi everyone. hope you could help me with my questions.

    1. does anyone here that had gone their medical with history of TB? I know that K1 doesn't need to undergo another medical as long as its filed within a year from your last medical but what if you had history of TB. They were saying I have to do the skin test but surely it will turn positive. That just doesn't make sense to me wait for 3 days for the result where they would know its positive.

    2. Did you guys have to do the sputum and X-ray?

    3. This is regarding my replacement of SOcial security to married name but they were saying my visa expired and was asking for current immigration status which is AOS. So that means I will wait for at least 3 months until I get my GC to have my Social changed? My 90th day expires on July 27th and got married after 5days I arrived in the US. My husband was saying that yes visa was expired but it only apply if you didn't fly in the US before it expired. Confused with their process.

    Thanks in advance!

  6. Okay my spouse has her NBI clearance. I keep reading in the visa requirements that Police Clearances are needed. Does this apply to Philippines? She previously had Barangay clearances, do we need to submit these also?? Just got our IV bill email and wanted to make sure they do not need Barangay clearances. (I think we had to obtain those for her to get her passport.) Anyone know the answer to this one?

    Barangay Clearance is not required.

*POLICE CERTIFICATES: A police certificate is required from a country in which the applicant lived for more than one year (six months if you are applying for a K visa) after turning 16 years of age. As with NBI clearances, foreign police certificates should be obtained in any maiden names, married names, aliases or nicknames ever used while in the country in question, including different spellings of all names ever used. Information on how to secure police certificates from countries where these are available may be obtained by contacting U.S. Embassy Manila’s Immigrant Visa Branch or an Embassy/Consulate of the country from which the police certificate is required.

  7. Thanks Bradix for your time to reply my question.. It's just last month I had my chest Xray.. the result was okay but then it leaves scar and I went to the doctor to ask their opinion and told that I'm for petition.. That's why in advanced me I made my chest Xray again. The doctor recommended me to undergo for sputum.. By Friday released of my sputum result.. To be honest I'm ready already whatever the result may be..

Yeah it def leaves a scar whatever happens. When you undergo your medical with ST.Lukes on your first day better tell them what happened because that will save your time, they will ask what medicine did the doctor prescribe you. 2nd day they will adv you to do sputum they will schedule it for you no additional cost unless you missed the date your supposed to go back for sputum then you will pay out of pocket. On the fourth day they told me to come back. Once sputum test is negative they will do culture sensitivity, in lay man's term it's like they trying to grow your sputum to see if it will be active from TB, after 8weeks is the result. Also they will ask for your previous X-ray perfect if its 6months old, but if not then maybe X-ray you had when you were under medication. The usual medication if it turns out positive is 6months, I heard some patients only had 4months. Thank god I didn't undergo any medication bec the culture result was negative. I hope you would have the same result as mine. God bless.

  9. wow!! congratulations

    Thanks for sharing

Btw let me ask, they allowed now to enter your foreign fiance inside? As i know no companion allowed only the applicant can get inside the USEM

Like what toastedpancake said, yes in the Philippines petitioner is allowed to accompany his/her beneficiary during the interview process. Unless otherwise the AC advise your petitioner to have a moment with you alone. Just like what happened when we were at USEM, the fiancée was accompanied with her Pre-screen interview but when they were called by AC for interview he was asked to go back into his seat.

Thank you! And good luck to your journey. :)

  10. wow!! congratulations

  11. I know everyone have read sharing their experiences during the interview at USEM. Let me also share mine to help others who haven't gone their interview yet.

Appt at 7:30am me and my fiancé arrived at USEm 5:30. After an hour guards let us in. Before entering the gate you will present your appointment letter, passport that they will put in the ziplock and DS forms. Once you're done you will pass through bag X-ray then go to this window 2 and 3 for fiancée to get your number. You will be advised to drop your ds forms to window 39 but in my case a girl took the forms and she said she will just drop the forms to window 39 for me. Then proceed to door# 2 for non immigrant another bag check that you will pass through. Now waiting game starts for your number to be called. After 20mins of waiting they called my number for finger scan. Again after that you have to go back to your seat. After 10 mins we were called again pre-screen interview with a Filipina and she was very pleasant to talk with. Get ready with your NSO b.c, CENOMAR, NBI, BPI receipt and your finace's documnet I-134, W2s and employment cert to hand it over to the Filipino interviewer.

    Questions asked to us were

If we are single and never been married

    If we have kids

    When did we first met

If we brought pictures with us..said yes but she didn't look at it and was told Just present to the AC

Finished these two steps at 7:40. AC started their interview at 8am from window 59 to 68. Waited until 10am when we were called to be interviewed only for 2 mins lol

    Questions that were asked

    When and how we met..........?

Waiting to fire up his next question to me but he asked my fiancé what does he do for living

Brad: I work for blah blah in oil rig platform

AC to me: are you ok with that? It's a dangerous job

Me: safety is his top priority and like I always tell my fiancé just go home in one piece.

AC to fiancé: (while browsing our docs) you like to travel a lot

Brad: yes because of my job I get to travel a lot.

AC to me: how do you pronounce your name and is that from Bohol

Me: (laughing) yeah I know name is complicated to pronounce and spells totally different. (Ixarah is my name) said its not from Bohol.

AC: yeah it's very unique.......and I guess I got it all the info you're approved.

Geez he didn't even look at the chat logs I pulled out from my envelope and pictures. My fiancé said while we were walking back to our seat "I am already your evidence" and I agree being with your partner helps a lot during the interview process.

Last stop is releasing and they just verified your address where to send your passport. Finished everything at 11am.

  12. Hi I will be having 6months of waiting for NOA2 this Mar.12,,,is congressman help really works to inquire our case?

Anyway good luck to your upcoming interview..wish you luck

You could try there's no harm in trying but yeah in my case it did work.

    Thank you :)

  13. how does the congressman help you?

Bradix, how did you ask your congressman? Did it work? How long did it take for her/him to get back to you? I read someone else asked their Senator?

    Any help is appreciated!

My fiancé emailed the congressman's office and after few days the staff asked our K1 info. Then we received NOA2 soon after. :)

  14. i know there's a lot more people who filed before us. But it's 5 months now and i cant see any light about our application.

i dont mind waiting but then i havent seen any CSC filer who got approved recently. i was thinking if they're really doing some papers or are they stucked in july 18 since december 31?? oh well, i think there's one who made it. 1 applicant in 2 months.. wooohoooo! initial review for 6 months, 7 months???? i think it's crazy. :bonk:

Like everyone said hang in there. And maybe you could ask your fiancé to seek help to his congressman like what my fiancé did after our 5th month of waiting. :)
