Case complete today for one of our IR-2
Cases.
Case complete : August 9 2013
Interview received : august 12 2013
Country : Ethiopia
Interview date : Sep 24 2013
Now waiting for the last case (IR-1) to finish, checklist is still under review.
Thank you all,
-
It's already under review? Wow! You're lucky..
I know lol, thats why I'm surprised and asking, if everything will go fast if the
review process starts. I will call them again just to confirm.
Received the interview date in the e-mail today
Congrats, time to do the medicals.
-
Congrats to all of you, you have been waiting for so long compared to other countries
Best of luck, Ramadan kareem

anytime between now and when they complete it.... Today is business day 20 of one of my checklist items and they are telling me to give them more time.... Hopefully, you will not experience the same delay, but you have to give them the time. They have only had yours for 5 business days. Most others checklist items have been approved in 12-15 business days, however. I have averaged that by studying people's timelines and signatures in the July and June threads for NVC. Good luck! (and sorry if I sound like a bitter jerk)
When I called them yesterday and they day before that, they could only see that there's a mail waiting to be reviewed
for my case, but today the review process started. I am hoping for case complete by the end of next week.
Hope you get CC soon, thanks

I just called NVC, asked about IV checklist for PCC which they recieved 25th of july
they said its under review. When can I expected a case complete ?

You sure you mean I-864W which is the exempt. Have not read anything that this form was changed. The uscis.gov site says
Edition Date : 03/22/13. Previous editions accepted.Yes, I-864W, the required to be submitted people who quality for child citizenship act.
I thought that the 03/22 edition is considered as the new form too.
Do you think they will review this updated form before june 23 ?
-
Does anyone know if people who submit the new I-864W are also put on hold ?
And what happens if you send the old form after the new one ?

Hi NewKlear take a look at my post regarding changing embassies tell me what you think: www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/424797-changing-embassies-before-i130-approval-to-avoid-interview-wait/page__p__6150254__fromsearch__1#entry6150254

Hi AladdinS, what they said could be true, but they are not sure either, Lets wait for other peoples posts.
I think what helped us, is that we are of Somali nationality and there's no US embassy in Somalia. Just a thought.
I hope you find good answers, keep asking.
Salam

I will check the timelines thanks for the tip. You are still in Yemen, so did the USCIS ask for proof that your address is in Ethiopia, like a passport visa stamp?
No, they didn't ask for a proof. She just told them that her family moved to Ethiopia few days ago.
and that they don't have address or phone number, and provided the relatives address and phone number.
Can you ask her if she provided any proof of residence in Ethiopia because I want my wife to stay in Yemen with her parents where she's more comfortable then just travel to Saudi Arabia with a 30 day visitor visa.
Also does anyone know what exactly happens at the Visa Appointment? After getting approved does one get a visa stamp that allows them to travel to the US from any country? Can my wife leave Saudi Arabia after the interview or does she have to return to Yemen and depart to the US from there?
I want to know this too.
-
Hi Naima, police certificate is one of the required documents to be submitted with the DS-230 Form.
Also beneficiaries from Somalia don't have to submit PCC : http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_5455.html?cid=9738

What do you think about getting my wife a visitor visa to Saudi Arabia or Kuwait (she has family in both countries) and having her enter and live with her family at their address for less than a month just so she can get the appointment outside of Sanaa. Would it be unwise to tell the USCIS that my wife will be in Saudi Arabia (or Kuwait) so they can change embassies at the NVC step and prepare a visa for her to enter the country just a month before her interview date?
Checking the Saudi arabian and Kuwait timelines and country specific portals would be a good start
to know which embassy processes faster.
We are also still in yemen, some relative lives in ethiopia, we are using his address.
But I think she told USCIS that we moved to Ethiopia. If USCIS upadates the beneficiarys country, address
NVC will use the same information , so no need to tell them again. I don't know how that could affect
the process, if you are sure she'll be in Kuwait/Saudi arabia time of the interview. But do some research
open a new thread, maybe other members will help you.
-
So you updated the beneficiary's address during the USCIS step and not the NVC step?
Yes
Did you have to fill out any paperwork to update the address?
I don't know if she had to fill paperworks but I will ask and get back to you.
I also received an RFE for proof of a bonafide marriage but an interview wasn't requested.
Our RFE was about Affidavit of support and DNA test.
Who do I speak with to update the address and what do I fill out?
Ask USCIS through telephone, what to do about this problem.
I heard about filling out an I-824 to transfer the petition but idk exactly.
I don't know about this, sorry
I REALLY dont want to wait for a year to get an interview in Sanaa.
Yes, its a very long wait. All thanks to VJ users, I came to know about switching embassies
Thanks so much for your help!
You are welcome

USCIS sent an appointment letter to our cases petitioner(Mother) because of an RFE, at the interview she updated our address
and we received emails notifications of the addresss change. The Cases were approved exactly one month after the interview
at the local office, NVC automatically assigned ADDXXXXXXXXXX (ADD=Addis ababa)case numbers.
I suggest you update the address of the beneficiary now.
I don't know how, but maybe you can schedule an infopass appointment.
-
Can you please tell me how you switched embassies? My i130 is supposed to be approved this month and I dont want to wait a year for an appointment at the embassy in Sanaa. I am thinking about switching to the US embassy in Saudi Arabia but I do not now how? Please help. Thanks!

No its ok.
-
NVC sends K-1 visas directly to the consulate after they receive it and assign a case number.
-
Congrats to all of you, we switched from us embassy in Yemen to Ethiopia
Before our case was approved, just to avoid the long wait.
Good luck with the interviews,
-
YAY! at last got the case number from NVC. Approval was on feb 20, all this time they were saying they have not
recieved the case from USCIS but today I called without expecting anything. I also gave them the emails of both
beneficiary and the petitioner. Whats next now ?
Update: Reading the first thread again
-
Sorry wrong thread lol

How many business days to be exact before they get my files and my case #? I've been calling NVC almost everyday last week and my files isn't even on their doorstep or whatnot.... I am guessing I should be preparing for next week's redial Nvc Mode on my phone as usual. (Sigh) jst a bit frustrated and hopefully nxt week I will hear a good answer for once. Thanks everyone!
We are on the same boat, approved and received NOA2 on Feb 20. Kept calling NVC week after the approval, 5 days ago they said I have to scan the NOA2 and email it to NVCresearch@state.gov
I am gonna keep on calling them everyday lol ... hope we get our case numbers by next week.

Can the petitioner attend an IR-2 visa interview with a child ? Would that make any difference ? The child is 23 yr old.
