Thank you, Jay-Kay. So my father would tick the box, "I am the only joint sponsor" for part 1 question 1.d., correct?
-
I think I understand now after some research...Jay-Kay, my father claims me as a dependent on his taxes. Does he still fill out his own I-864?
-
Ok...this is exactly what's confusing me. Zedayn quoted 'item 7' from the instructions. It sounds like my dad is supposed to fill out the I-864a. Item 7: non-dependent relatives living in your residence. But now I'm confused because I have no income to combine with...ugh.

Thanks so much for your help!

Hi everyone. Peter and I (Peter being the immigrant and me being the US citizen) have successfully used his K1 visa and married within the allotted time period of 3 months. We are now in the process of filing for AOS.
I've got a couple questions about the I-864, affidavit of support (yes, both of us read the instructions for both I-864 and I-864a).
Here' the situation. My husband and I are currently living with my mother and father. Our household size is the four of us. I am a full time student as of right now and have no income--but I have worked part time jobs in previous years (not enough to clear the poverty limit though). I graduate in May. I know I am the primary sponsor and I know I fill out an I-864. My father is willing to help and makes well over the poverty limit by himself.
This is where I am confused. Does my father fill out a separate I-864, or does he fill out the I-864a, which I attach to my own i-864? My mother and father file tax together. Does she need to fill anything out? Some clarification would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Nurseling do you have your visa?
-
VISA IN HAND! Yesss!!!
-
Nurseling, my fiance just had his email today telling him it will be delivered on October 28th, which is Monday. He chose to have it delivered because the nearest courier is still kind of far.
-
Congrats Nurseling! Yes we are! It's hard to believe!!
-
I checked this morning, now it says issued! Yay!
-
Crossing my fingers that it's changed to "issued" by tomorrow!
-
Still says AP....
-
I keep checking the ceac like a maniac haha!
-
Chrisclassic: let's keep in touch!
Anyone else's case say administrative processing on the ceac website before changing to issued?
-
^Thank you so much for the peace of mind.

I have a question for you guys and I'm trying not to get paranoid considering his interview was only yesterday. At the interview they kept his passport and didn't ask for any additional paperwork, he wasn't handed anything except for a paper telling him how to become a citizen once in America. My question is that when I check the CEAC, it says our case is in administrative processing. From what I've heard, AP is usually not a good thing. Can anyone give me some insight? Do all cases go through AP before issuing the visa?

Chrisclassic- awesome, that is pretty close. Fiancé is getting his delivered to his house cause there are no curriers close by.

Thank you guys all so much!

Just throwing out my two cents, the K-1 has been pretty good to us so far.

My fiance had his interview for our K-1 visa today at the London Embassy and we were approved! Woohoo! Can't believe this is over and we can finally be together! He'll be booking a ticket soon as he's got his visa in hand. Just wanted to share this with everyone and that it is possible to do it on your own!

My fiancé just went to his interview today and we were approved!!!
-
^ @Susan53011, yes, the consulates overseas were still operating. Give the CEAC a little while to update your case, just be patient

It's over guys, at least for now! The House passed the bill 285-144 to end the shutdown
I called the Department of State earlier today to ask about my fiance's interview on Monday and if we will be affected. She told me as of right now no, but they are taking things day by day.
Just thought I'd share, even though things should start functioning normally again tomorrow.

Has anyone had an interview in the past couple days? My fiance's interview is a week from Monday (interview oct 21) in London. I'm hoping things are still running as normal, I'm getting nervous. We are hoping he will be here by early November.

Thanks for your help. We already had an appointment with the civil surgeon who gave us the form in a sealed envelope. Glad that's over.
