  1. Hi all,

I have recently received an RFE (I have to re-submit medical since the AOS has now taken over a year!) which explains I must bring the requested information to my interview on July 31st. This is the only document that made me realize that my interview is scheduled that day (good news I guess) but I have yet to receive the official interview notice where time and location are given.

Since we are now technically less than a month away, what do you all recommend I should do? Will USCIS customer service be able to help me over the phone and re-send?

    Thanks for your help :)

  2. USCIS' new policy is that (i) you must submit the I-693 within one year of it being performed, and (ii) USCIS must adjudicate the I-485 petition within one year of submission. If it moves beyond one year of submission then the medical becomes invalid and you must get a full new medical performed.

I made a post which details this, together with the source, here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/477746-vawa-part-5/page-97#entry7089362

Since it's now been over a year since you submitted the I-693, it has become invalid and you must have a complete new medical exam performed.

Thank you very much for the information. While I find it very unfair since they are the ones taking over a year, I guess I am forced to redo (and re-pay) a full medical...

  3. Hi All,

After filing on June 5th of last year (!), I have finally an interview date set for July 31st. Along the good news came a bad news: a medical RFE.

It states I need to furnish the medical report (form I-693) with proof of immunization conducted by civil surgeon when I have my interview.

After a little research, it seems this is due to the fact that my complete medical report on file is now over a year old (not my fault USCIS took their time...). The RFE didn't come in until last week, which seems to support this theory.

Has anyone experienced this before? Will I be forced to redo my medical from top to bottom and splash another $300?

Your help is appreciated as always :)

  4. The info you copied here clearly indicates that people should use the approximate date when they first entered the USA.

Yes but this the guidelines are rather confusing. Is it the first time you EVER entered the US (near impossible to determine), the first time you entered with your visa that your are adjusting status from, or the first time you entered with your EAD card?

Seems a lot of people in past conversations say you should enter your last date of entry.

Has anyone had the experience of changing their address online?

  5. Hi everyone,

As I am moving next week, I need to submit a Change of Address request. I understand the easiest is to do it online on uscis.gov but I am unsure as to what to write in the "Entry into the US" section, more specifically the "date of entry". When clicking on the help "?", the following guidelines are given: The "date of entry" refers to the approximate date when you first entered into the United States. You may use an estimated date if the exact date is unknown. For example, if you only know that the entry was during the month of May in 1999, enter 05/01/1999; if you only know that the entry was during the year 1999, enter 01/01/1999.

Should I be entering the last time I re-entered the US with my EAD (2 months ago) or an earlier date?

Your help is really appreciated! :)

  6. Hi all,

Although I am still waiting on an interview date, I was wondering if you could help me figure out if the following evidence will be enough. We plan to bring the following:

    - Marriage certificate

    - Pictures of us over the past 4 years, including pictures that show we are seeing our in-laws

    - Airline tickets proving multiple trips together

    - Car insurance with both our names on it

    - Photocopy of drivers licence showing same address

    - Banking statements of our personal accounts that show the same address

    - 2013 joint tax filing receipt

Two other things that we could bring/do if you guys thought it was really necessary:

    - get bank statement proving that my wife helps pay for the rent (she's not on the lease) by writing me monthly checks.

    - open a joint bank account although we feel we have no use for it at this point

Let me know what you guys think.

    Thanks!

  7. What does the I-485 processing times say for Miami field office?

Field Office Processing Dates for Miami FL as of: December 31, 2013 Form Form Name Processing Timeframe: I-485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status May 17, 2013 N-400 Application for Naturalization July 31, 2013 N-600 Application for Certification of Citizenship May 5, 2013

The "as of December 2013" makes me wonder if this is up to date or not.

  8. Hi all,

After submitting filling for I-485 adjustment of status on June 5th 2013, I have yet to hear back regarding my interview and have been stuck on "Testing and Interview" since...July 2013 (!).

After speaking to customer service, I understand that the process is taking longer than expected because my Miami field office has a long wait for interviews. But that long? My biometrics at the Miami field office was done a month after I filled, so they are far more competent than they say they are.

From your past experiences, do you think it's worth reaching to my congressman/woman at this point?

I appreciate your help as always.

  9. Hi everyone,

Let me start off by wishing everyone a happy new year!

After going over other people's timelines, I feel my wait has been going on for a rather long time. As you can see in my signature below, I filled for adjustment from F1 on June 4th, received EAD card on August 22nd but have not heard anything since. My case status is still on "Testing and Interview".

From your past experiences, do you consider the timing to be usual/unusual? Should I be calling USCIS about it?

    Thanks for your help :)

  10. Hi everyone,

Trying to deal with a slight issue: 2 days after my biometrics, the online uscis case status case showed that an interview appointment notice was mailed on July 12th for an interview on August 14th. Over two weeks later, I have not received anything and don't expect it to arrive at this point.

After calling customer service, I was told in the first place that they would be able to fax me the document if I waited 30 days from that July 12th date (August 12, two days before the interview). Today, I called back and they told me instead to make an infopass appointment and see an immigration information officer that would get me that form. This is obviously much more inconvenient for me and question if that's the easiest way to handle this.

Has anyone been in this situation in the past? How did you resolve end up resolving it?

    Thanks for your time!

  11. With me being from India, I had already had some of the vaccines as a child. I'm not sure how it works in France and at what age you were given certain vaccines. Below is a summary of my I-693. Note that I was 30 years old when this examination took place which was back in 2007.

DT/DTP - I received shots when i was 1 years old. She also checked the "not appropriate age box."

TD (Tetanus and Diphtheria) - I had one shot in 1996 and the surgeon gave me one at my examination

OPV/IPV - No vaccine given. She checked the "not appropriate age box."

Measles/Mumps/Rubella (MMR) - I received these shots one at age 1 and the other at age 4 which completed the series fully

Hib - No vaccine given. She checked the "not appropriate age box."

Hepatitis B - No vaccine given. She checked the "not appropriate age box."

Varicella - I had chicken pox as a child so no vaccine needed.

Pneumococcal - No vaccine given. She checked the "not appropriate age box."

Influenza - She checked the "insufficient time interval" box. I don't know what this means and cannot remember if any shot was given for this.

Rotavirus and Meningococcal were not a requirement back when I completed this medical so not sure what to tell you.

    Hope this helps.

Tremendous help, exactly what I wanted to know. Appreciate it, thanks!

  12. All the vaccines are listed on the I-693 form. I'm not sure what you mean by vaccine name as opposed to the disease/condition. Most vaccines are going to simply be called a 'vaccine against (insert disease)' Could you elaborate a little on what exactly it is you need clarification on?

This is what is on the official .gov page:

    Background

Under the immigration laws of the United States, a foreign national who applies for an immigrant visa abroad, or who seeks to adjust status to a permanent resident while in the United States, is required to receive vaccinations to prevent the following diseases:

    • Mumps
    • Measles
    • Rubella
    • Polio
    • Tetanus and Diphtheria Toxoids
    • Pertussis
    • Haemophilus influenzae type B
    • Hepatitis B
    • Any other vaccine-preventable diseases recommended by the Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices

I'm pretty sure I don't have to do 8 vaccines, this is just a list of diseases that have to be prevented. I just want to know if there's a list of required vaccines for a mid-20s male.

    Thanks for your help.

  13. You should try to call them and ask specifically how much they charge for the:

    - Basic examination

    - Any vaccination you may need

    - x ray chest if needed.

You are from France, so you might be positive to the Tuberculic skin test and therefore will require a radiography of your lungs (x-ray chest). The reason you might be positive is because we receive the vaccination BCG in France (vaccin anti-tuberculique).

If you are negative, good new you won't have to pay for the x ray chest.

Ask these specific questions and put an emphasis on it. My doctor did not tell me the x-ray chest would be an extra $50 until I came back to get the results ....

You should also ask if the doctor preform the x-ray chest at its office, otherwise, you will have to take another appointment with an other doctor, which will take you much more time.

Pick the doctor who charges the less (doctors in suburb areas tend to be cheaper).

You may also call your doctor in France and get a record of all your vaccination (or look at it your "carnet de santé"). Make sure to translate the vaccination record to your doctor (you can google that).

I was on date with all my vaccinations and did not need any extra (which is good knowing how much they charge for it).

Babar, un grand merci pour ton aide!

My "carnet de santé" should in fact help me a lot. By any chance, do you (or anyone else) have a complete list of vaccines that have to be completed for AOS? I have looked on the .gov website but it's rather confusing as it gives you a list of diseases as opposed to a list of vaccines.

    Thanks again!

  14. Hi all,

Apologies if I'm posting in the wrong section. Getting married tomorrow, I am anticipating my adjustment of status application and therefore need to find a good and affordable civil surgeon in the Miami area. I looked at the official list of surgeons (there are many) and read through the thread "Civil surgeons who DON'T rip you off" but didn't find anything that was recent and about a Miami based surgeon.

    Your input is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!
