  1. To the OP, you can't change what happened in the past so just disclose the incident on your immigration forms and explain it to the CO at the interview. We all have a tendency to over-analyse every detail of our cases and often worry for no reason - the reality is your offense is at the very minor end of the scale (won't get into the debate about CIMT) and is not the type of the thing that typically prevents people from getting a visa. By the sounds of it you did not deliberately misrepresent the situation at any point so just be open and honest.

My wife had applied for 3 non-immigrant visas in the past without disclosing a caution/arrest (admittedly not a CIMT), but disclosed the incident on her DS-230. The CO asked her at the interview about it, said "is that it?" almost laughing about the minor nature of it before moving on to talking about our relationship which she seemed far more interested in. At no point did the failure to disclose the incident on previous non-immigration visas come up - she also used the VWP extensively, but since there was no doubt about her offense not being a CIMT it wasn't exactly the same as your situation.

  2. Yeah, although like I say it was across the Christmas period when mail usually takes forever to get anywhere - unfortunately the expedited service only covers the processing at ACPO's end (3 days vs 10 days) but doesn't cover the delivery. At this time of year it should hopefully be faster.

  3. We weren't provided a tracking number, though there may be a delivery option that includes it. Even though we requested expedited processing, the certificate took over 20 days to get from the UK to the US (although it was in the busy December mailing period) but I know some people have got it delivered internationally much faster.

  4. As far as I know, only the Bentnick Mansions address has been used for medical exams for the last few years.

Correct - all visa medicals are done at Bentnick. A few months back the x-ray machine was broken and they did the medical at Bentnick before sending people down to Basil Mansions by taxi for the x-ray.

  5. HI Daisy - we spoke to someone on the extortion line and they said that the system only has 4 types of status and London uses the "ready" status to show that they've finished the document review even though the language doesn't quite fit. The steps are apparently AP - Ready - AP - Issued, though the lady I spoke to said it can vary from case to case as apparently the CEAC site is still relatively new. The doc was my wife's original birth certificate which apparently got lost between the NVC and the Consulate.

  6. My wife's interview in London last month went well, but a document was missing and our file got put in the dreaded AP pile. Last week we checked our status on ceac.gov and it had changed to "Ready" with the following message:

"Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment. Additional information about how Immigrant Visa interview appointments are scheduled can be found at:http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3731.html"

We haven't heard anything from the consulate nor have we have received the visa, and we're a little confused about the status given that we have already had the interview. Has anyone seen this before?

    Thanks

  7. We got a 221g as well last week for a document that the consulate was responsible for obtaining. At first we were pretty upset and frustrated, but then we just decided to accept it and begin the wait (which hopefully won't be too long). Did they keep your passport? Apparently that's a good sign the visa will be approved once they get the additional documents.

  8. Great, thanks! We actually made sure we got 2 police certs for this very reason. Shots should be up-to-date since I understand that they've run out of flu shots for the season so are just waiving it.

We'll give them a call tomorrow and make an appointment.

  9. Hi all,

Sorry if this has been asked before - I've searched but keep on finding conflicting information. My wife's case has been completed at the NVC (we're CR1) and we are waiting on an interview date to be scheduled- can we go ahead and book the medical now with just our NVC case number?

    Thanks!

  10. Hi all,

I wasn't sure where to post this without starting a new topic and decided the NVC thread is as good as any. We have received a case complete notice from the NVC :) but we realized that my wife made an error on the DS-230 Part II and are wondering what we can do to fix it.

We just re-read the form in anticipation of the interview and saw that one of the check boxes includes being "arrested" for any offense. Nearly 20 years ago my wife was detained for public drinking, but wasn't charged or convicted and had to make a donation to charity. We're not sure if she was strictly "arrested" and has hasn't disclosed it for previous non-immigrant visas (F-1, H1B etc - this will be her fourth visa not including the VWP), and we're confident police background checks should come out clean (unfortunately she's from a country where they send them straight to the Embassy). However, this whole process has made us super-paranoid and we think we should amend the form and resubmit it at the Embassy before the interview to disclose the event even if it wasn't strictly an arrest.

Is this possible? Will the fact that she didn't (honestly, in her mind) disclose it on previous visa applications count against her? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!
