I know exactly what you're going through. Just hoping it works out for all of us. My hubby's interview went very well, had all questions answered and such, but at the end, hubby was given a 221G AP, but they didn't tell him what he was missing, neither did they tell him what additional documents and such to submit. And when my hubby asked the officer, the officer just smiled and said don't worry (x2). So we are just sitting here waiting for them to update us and tell us if we are missing anything or if they need anything else so we can submit that. I dont know what to do till then. I called DOS and he said the officer should have told my husband what was missing when he gave him the 221G, but the officer didn't say anything, which is why we are confused. He handed my husband the passport back with that letter, without anything else
So we have no idea what to do next, except wait and see. The officer said they'll get back to us in a couple of weeks and the status online just says administrative processing. I dont know how long it'll take, just praying praying praying REALLY hard that all goes well and smooth. -

I am sure all the documents we had submitted were sufficient and up-to-date, so I'm not sure why it's under processing. Does anyone know the time frame, how long it takes for this to clear? That is normal circumstances and I see this all the time. CO should tell him why and what is missing or needed when they handed over 221g slip. Once you or him have full fill the RFE checklist they asks for, on the attach form along with 221g should tell you where to submit them for second interview.

Yes, but that is the thing. The officer never told him what was missing or any additional documnets that they required. How are we supposed to know what additional docs we need to send? Or any of the missing info?????

this is in mumbai, india. what does this mean!?! the form says that its incomplete but we had all the documents they needed for the case complete and thereafter. he took the 2012 tax return for my joint sponsor that they asked for. the officer asked only 3 questions and then handed him that 221g form does anyone else have any experience with this?! I have no idea why its under processing everything was running so smoothly that i didnt not expect this at alll someone please advise and helppppp

Which date would be considered as your case complete date? I'm asking because when I had called NVC, he told me I had a case complete on May 1st, but I received the email on May 8th, so would the case complete date be the day NVC emailed me regarding my case complete? Thanks
Never mind, I think I found my answer. I believe emails are delayed so I'll go with May 1st- what the rep told me.

Since there's more than just one embassy in India, make sure you ignore the time lines of people going through different embassies than you as it's likely they have different time frames.
Thank you Saylin. I got the email from NVC yesterday about the case completes. I checked out a few timelines for the specific embassy and most people had 2 months till interview. Some had a month after case complete. So I'll just have to wait patiently

I called yesterday and found out we had a CASE COMPLETE on May 1st!!!!! I called them on April 30th and had no news then. I wish I called last week to get the news earlier! Anyways, I'm so happy!!!!!

PCC isnt required at NVC but your husband would need to take the original PCC with him to the interview. Make sure he also takes a photocopy with him as they will need to keep a copy.
Yeah, that's what NVC told me. But NVC has the original PCC since we sent it with the IV package. We do have photocopy, but not the original. Will NVC send the PCC along with the rest of the documents to the embassy?

Yeah, not too sure about the PCC, if you sent it. But, if they say the IV package is accepted, that's good news. As far as I know, they do another review after both packages have been accepted, and then close the case. Let's hope the PCC passes the test a second time and they close the case.
Yeah I have my fingers crossed that everything goes well without another checklist/RFE! I already called NVC and spoke to 2 different people and both of them told me the IV package was completed. My AOS should be received tomorrow. I'll call tomorrow one more time to make sure again and then take a deep breath

The PCC will be sent with the other documents to the embassy after an interview date is assigned, so the embassy will have it for the interview.
That makes sense and clears up the confusion. I was just wondering why they had sent me a checklist for the PCC though. I'll just have to wait for a case complete and see what happens! Thank you so much!

what, exactly? i think you are confused.
NVC asks for it, it's part of the doc intake process. Don't have it or don't want to send it with the DS-230 ? That's ok, must to bring on interview day.
AFTER THE INTERVIEW, there is no reason for the beneficiary to keep it, the original PCC goes with the casefile (not the beneficiary).

I wasn't talking about AFTER the interview. I see that it's part of the doc intake process and they said bring it ON THE DAY of interview. Maybe that's what NVC meant when he said that they don't need the PCC.

Why do you need the PCC after the interview ? For other US Consulates/Embassies IV Unit, the original PCC is kept, no one needs another or even a copy after the interview.
Yes, exactly. That's what I was confused about. If NVC didn't need it, then why is it on their website as one of the required documents? In either case, they have the PCC. If they don't need it, will they send it over to the consulate after a case complete? I also looked at the other forum for India and a lot of people said it's specific by US Embassies and the one for Mumbai, India- wants it at the time of the interview. I am going to call NVC again tomorrow to see if I can get a hold of another person to make sure they are saying the same thing. But I had asked him 2-3 times and he said NVC does not need it and that his IV package is complete. So confusing

My husband got his PCC in Mumbai, India and his whole IV package was done and he sent it. I called NVC yesterday and she told me that his package is complete and accepted. Today, however, I got an email from NVC and they sent me this:
"______10 - PASSPORT POLICE CERTIFICATE:____________________________
Indian Police Clearance Certificates should be obtained as follows:
•All Indian IV applicants aged 16 and above, residing in India, should obtain police
certificates from the local Passport Office.
•Indian passport holders applying for visas outside India should obtain a statement from their
local embassy or consulate confirming they have no criminal record.
•Non-Indian IV applicants residing in India should obtain police certificates from the District
Police Station serving their area of residence.
•Indian police certificates are not available for foreign (non-Indian) applicants applying
outside India."
Curious as to what this meant, I just called NVC. And he told me that NVC doesn't need the Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) and that my husband would need to take the PCC with him at the time of his interview. I asked him again to make sure and that's what he said. I asked him if he would send the original back, and he said that the husband can just take a copy of the PCC with him to the interview. Is this correct? I don't know if his PCC had an expiration date on it. If so, he would need to get a new PCC before his interview? Also, he got his PCC made from the police office, not passport office. Which one is necessary? Again, he's in Mumbai. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Checklists aren't false if they're asking for something specific. I suggest calling up NVC and inquiring about this.

What does this mean?? This is for my husband in Mumbai, India who submitted the IV package.
I got an email saying that they received the IV package and are waiting for my AOS (which I already mailed and they should get it by tomorrow).
Please help! I thought the IV was accepted according to the the lady whom I spoke to yesterday.

Yeah I'm frusturated since we don't know what we are missing. If we at least knew that much, we would be at an ease and start collecting our documents. And my hubby took everything we could possibly think of to the interview- chat records/phone/receipts/my visit/pics/etc.. but they didn't ask him for a single thing. Just my joint sponsor's 2012 tax return. *sigh* Gluck to you too!
