  1. The CO didn't tell my husband if he was approved or denied. He just gave him the paper with the website on it to check his visa. He told him to wait at least 2 weeks to check his case number. He also told him he didn't know how long his administrative processing will last. They then asked for his passport befor he left and he paid the DHL fees. We have had updates on our case on DOS, but mostly have been because of my inquiries and my congressman's inquiry. I'm hoping that we will only be in AP for 6 months(fingers crossed)

  2. I am egyptian married to american she didnt change her name till now and we got married and i got the green card already. i would say it better to wait till u get done with the AOS process when u change your name get his last name in his passport if its the third or the forth whatever is in his passport. then u gonna have to change everything not just your passport your social security number and everything.

I also am an American married to an Egyptian. I do not plan to take his last name legally until everything is completed ( him living here in the US with greencard in Hand) We will take Aref as our last name, as it is on his passport. I like Saleh better, but he preferes Aref. Another of my friends whom married an Egyptian took 1 of the 3 last names that was not on his passport, but I'm not sure how they did that. I will have to check and get back with you on that one. Sorry, this was meant for the Original poster..

  3. Well i finally got a response from the US embassy in Cairo via e-mail stating that it would continue to say "case # not found ect.."' And that we are in administrative processing " which I am aware. I also checked the DOS website last night and it states our case was updated 3-6-13. I'm not sure what that means? Will have to start researching that one. I'm sorry it's taking so long!! 5 months and here i'm crying about 2 1/2 . I hope you hear some good news soon!!

  4. My fiance was put on AP after his interview in Cairo on January 10th. According to him, the interview went well and the CO did not ask to see any of his evidence or paperwork (barely asked any questions either). It has been two months now and there is no news. I tried calling the Department of State today and of course the representative couldn't tell me anything except that the administrative processing is still pending. Honestly, it has been harder waiting these two months then most of the rest of the process because how close we are to the finish line of this journey. Next week it will be exactly a year since our NOA1 date.

I have noticed on VJ that most people from Cairo that got AP and did not get their visa issued within the first two months of AP usually wait 6+ months for the visa. Is this true? Should I be preparing myself (mentally and emotionally) for another 6 months to a year of waiting?

I am really sad right now and I just wish there was something I could do or at least be told how long we will be stuck in AP.

I totally understand where you are coming from. My husband's apt. was December 20th and we are currently in AP. These 2 months have been the hardest for me too. We have been together a little over 2 years and you would think waiting these last few months would be a walk in the park, but unfortunately, It seems to be the HARDEST. I find myself crying myself to sleep at night because I miss him so much. I don't tell him that though, If i did it would break his heart. He always tries to find ways to make me laugh when I am sad, but It doesn't seem to work these days. I wish you well with you journey process and hopefully you will hear good news soon :)
