  1. Hey guys,

    Just a quick question.

I am currently here on the conditional residence 1 year into the 2 year period. Just a quick question when travelling during this time. I just reuqire my passport (in my case British) and my resident card can someone confirm please :)

Also just a quick question to anyone who has travelled while at the conditional stage what form do i have to fill back in and what line do you go through when returning into the US. FYI i am going to fly to and from JFK.

    Mnay thanks

    Nick

  2. We are adjusting from F-1 status and have to file the I-130, I-485, I-765, I-864, and the lady at the Phila office told us to copy his passport, old and new, cover to cover. So therefore it's very thick.

They told you to copy every page of all his old and new passports? Wow. I hope this isn't the requirement, because I only sent the main info page and the visa stamp pages of my current passport. I thought this was the requirement (its all I ever sent for my H1-B visa).

I only copied the important pages and although i recieve an RFE it wasnt for anything to do with the passport.

  3. hi,

I am confused by the meaning of RFE.

    Any exact definition?

    Request for Evidence (i think)

It is when USCIS decide that additional information is required. This is quite often if something which was required was not included with the documents sent to them.

When they issue a RFE they normally state exactly what they require to be sent to them eg. birth certificate.

    Hope this helps

  4. Don't get too excited about your case being touched. I think it means a lot less than we would all hope. I was touched 3 times in a week and am still twiddling my thumbs...I've heard nothing. And beware of the USCIS online status service - it's addictive (I check mine about 6 times a day and always get disappointed).

Heh only 6 times a day. Your showing restraint when i am sitting at the computer i check maybe twice and hour sometimes more. Sadly as you said only to be disappointed :( but one day oh yes one day i wont be :P although i'll probably get the email before the website check.

  5. The idea of the service centers was first conceived in the late 1970s by two legacy U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) managers during a hunting trip in northeastern Vermont. The concept was to relieve overburdened district offices by transferring work that did not require applicant interviews to other locations. This allowed the district offices to concentrate on applicants for immigration benefits such as citizenship and legal permanent residency that require face-to-face interviews.

Heh on a hunting trip. Any boston legal fans here cause that just makes me think of Denny and Alan's fishing trip.

  6. my EAD took about 6 months from when i applied for it. I didnt go for an interim but it does appear most people seem to have a 80 - 90 day turnaround.

Hope you dont have the bad luck i did.

Oh dont bother with the helpline they put 2 notes on their system to try to get it sped up (had to wait a month between each one) Infopass is the way.

oh and for the record i had my biometrics in mid feb and recieved my ead in june.

  7. Hi,

Just curious if this is normal, I filed both my EAD/AOS back at the end of december 2005 - NOA's for both dated dec 30th 2006.

Anyway nothing has happened with my EAD since feb - just after i had my biometrics and i phones them twice but still nothing, but that doesnt bother me i am just getting trained up for any prospective jobs when i finally can work.

Anyway today i recieved a update on my AOS

On June 6, 2006, we transferred your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status to an office in CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER for processing. Our office in CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER will send you a written decision as soon as processing is complete. You should receive a notice informing you that your case has been transferred to a local office.

Is this normal i never heard of other cases being transferred but maybe its just cause people dont mention it and if it isnt normal is it a good thing or a bad thing :P

    Just curious

    Nick

PS. just double checking i notice several posts regarding K1 - I129F's transferred to Calif but no AOS's

  8. Hi,

Been a while since i have had chance to post on here but finally in NYC, Married and so on so forth got SSN.

Applied for EAD and all the AOS stuff. Got all the NOA's had Biometrics feb 10th 2006,

Date of the EAD NOA - 31st December 2005

got a RFE for AOS which i sorted out sent back to them and they recieved on 31st Jan 2006 (according to recorded mail) although recieved no official confirmation from them althouth on the website both EAD and AOS were updated feb 19th 2006 (which i assume is updating them with the biometrics).

Any way waited all through March thinking hmmm over 3months so rang them beginning of April. They told me to ring at the beginning of May cause they dont do anything about overdue stuff until its atleast 1 month over.

So waited some more May came i rang them, they agreed it was overdue and past the processing date as they were doing mid feb by then. So they said they would try to get it sorted and passed me onto another person who said about getting a temp EAD via Infopass.

As i am currently doing some certifications i decided not to bother with a temp EAD (its hard enough getting a job by all accounts with a EAD and a SSN saying about working with DHS auth only let alone with a temp EAD) so it gives me more time to study for the certifications.

Anyway needless to say another month has now passed they said ring back if it wasnt sorted in a Month (well they said i should hear from them within a month) they took my email and telephone number so they could contact me that way. It didnt happen. Now its not a major issue as i still have plenty of certifications to do but of course its nice to have an income.

However i was just wondering if anyone else has had a experience similar (or heard of anyone who has) and how long it took and if there is anything i should do to help speed things up. I am in Brooklyn, NY just in case anyone around here has heard of issues. Erm i think all my documents were sent to Chicago but as i said they have all been found as NOA's have been recieved.

    Let me know

    Thanks

    Nick
