  1. Hello;

    We are in need of filling out the form to remove conditions on residence,# I-171. Questions part 3 are a little tricky to me. It asks for spouses information,

    but I believe it's only in reference to filing for a person's child as well as them. My wife had no child, but we had one together, after we were married & she was here. Do

    I need to fill in this area or not. When I go to fill it in it says, complete only if you are applying on a parent/child relationship, based on an adoptive parent. That really

    sounds like I don't need to fill it in, but I hate to leave anything blank, when it starts by asking the question spouses information.

    Thanks, in advance for any input;

    Rob, Jel, & Mika, D.

  2. Hello;

    They have listed for the AOS interview what you need to bring, and the I-129 F isn't on the list. My question is, do they need you, at this point

    to bring a copy of the 1-129F, for reference. I have a copy, but it's probably 85 pages, & it's my only copy. I would rather not

    get another copy, but don't want to bring anything that they might keep if it's my last copy. We have the interview 3-6-14, in Detroit mi.

    Thanks, in advance for any input;

    Rob & Jel D.

  3. Hello;

    My wife & I have interview for Aos 3-6-14. I'm working on the package of documents etc & I did read the they seem to prefer top holes and maybe just some rings through the holes more than a 3 ring binder. I guess I'm wondering would a top two ring binder be just as good. If they use this arrangement in file cabinets, is there a specific

    distance they prefer between the holes, or do the rings just mount some how & that's not important. I thought we'd bring our originals maybe in the accordion style folder.

    Anyway, I found a nice two ring top binder, but if they prefer just rings was thinking maybe go with that, although it offers very little protection etc.

    Thanks, for any input;

  4. Hello;

    My wife from a k1 visa completed her biometrics on 1-16-14. I understand that it's good for 15 months. From what I've heard the next thing we are required to do might be a interview, so we're trying to prepare for that. However some say we won't necessarily even have to do an interview.

    My questions are, if we don't need to do the interview then what's next on the timeline, & what has to happen during the 15 months that the biometrics are good for. Pardon my lack of understanding, but we did get her here, got married within the 90 days, applied for AOS, & did the biometrics. What's next & what's the general layout that all this leads to, & how long does it take?

    Thanks, much for any info.

  5. Hello;

    My new wife & I from the K1 visa received a Noah, which says USCIS will schedule a biometrics appointment for you to have your biometrics electronically captured at a USCIS Application Support Center. You will be receiving a biometrics appointment notice by mail with the specific date, time, and place, where you will have your fingerprints and/or photographs taken.

    My question is they are saying nothing about an interview. Is the interview simultaneous, where you have to have your photo albums, & proof of relationship and all of that.

    or will that come at a later time, or maybe it isn't even needed.

    Thanks, for any input in advance;

    Rob & Jel D.

  6. Hello;

    I am applying for AOS for my wife through K1 visa. I meet the poverty salary requirement, but two of the oldest years was just 6,000 past the poverty because of layoff etc. My question is, is there any merit in including some assets, (they say it's optional)? I know they say if you meet the requirements, just skip the assets part?

    Also, the step by step guide says that the 1-765, & I-131 are included in the I-485, & biometrics, for $1,070. So then it's for sure that there is not extra

    charge for including those two forms, at the time of filing the I-485?

    Thanks, for any response.

  7. Hello;

    My wife through K1 visa, entered into the U.S.A., through Chicago Illinois, 9-20-13. We married 10-26-13; we are getting the package together for

    adjustment of status. They ask for a copy of the original birth certificate, but the immigration officer kept her original birth certificate. What's going on with that?

    Are we supposed to get that back. I believe we are required to send our paper work to Chicago, but all we have is a copy of the birth certificate, so we'd be making a copy of the copy, instead of the original and it says copy right on it.

    Also, we have an original marriage certificate. I've read some say a copy of the original is sufficient, while others say the original is what's needed. What

    is the general rule on this, & if you do send the original marriage certificate, how do you get it back.

    Thanks, for any input;

  8. Hello;

    My finance should be having her interview 9-10-13. My question is if we get the visa; she would probably fly from Philippines to Japan, then to Chicago, & then possibly Grand Rapids Mi.

    I'm wondering once a person has the visa, is it pretty smooth sailing, or can there be obstacles, & problems through customs & U.S. airports.

    I would like to have her possibly catch that last plane from Chicago to Grand Rapids Mi., but if there are often issues; then I might be able to drive to

    Chicago, & pick her up, upon first entering the U.S.

    Thanks, for any input, & experiences, in advance;

    Rob & Jel

  9. Hello;

    Dave E, how long was your wife's visa delayed? That's kind of what I wanted to find out. If it's a long time then, maybe I should get another one to be safe; if it's just as long as it takes to get a NBI, then maybe we could take our chances, & not bother, until directed to do so.

    Thanks,

    Rob_D

  10. I don't know, this seems to suggest if they want to be strick about it, even the nicknames should be given for the clearance.

    4. NBI CLEARANCE (Green Form): Applicants aged 16 years and older must have a valid Record Clearance (for travel abroad purposes) from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). Clearances should be in the applicant’s current name, birth certificate name, maiden name, married name, and any aliases or nicknames ever used, including different spellings of all names ever used. An official letter of explanation from the NBI is required for any notation of “No criminal record”, or "No pending case”. For immigration purposes, an NBI clearance is considered valid only for one year from the date it is issued. You may contact NBI at (632) 523-82-31 to 38. The NBI website is http://www.nbi.gov.ph.

  11. Hello;

    Well, my finance's interview was postponed because of the rain & government shut downs in Manila; My question now is according apparently her name was on her Baptismal certificate, as Jelly; then later in life when she finally got a birth certificate, she got it as Jellie; & also corrected the baptismal certifcate. She only dealt with the name Jelly, before she was 16 years old, but when she got her police clearance, she didn't include the name Jelly. Should we just go to a rescheduled interview with the police clearance we got, (especially because Jelly wasn't used after 16 years of age & they require police clearances for 16 or older), or should we take the time/money, and get another police clearance.

    Thanks, in advance for any help;

    Rob_D, & Jel_M

  12. Hello;

    I thank everyone for replying. I did talk to fedex. Apparently these charges that I got through fedex were a print out, or an attempted explanation of the charges that I already incurred. What confused me, & I appoligize for a bit of a goose chase, is these charges were an explanation in pesos. 833.19, which is around 19.60 dollars, which still really explains nothing to me about my 239 dollars charges. I'm not used to getting things from fedex, in pesos, so I thought it was dollars an apologize for any confusion.

    I agreed to the $239 reluctantly in June, to get the ring & documents to her, which it apparently did, & Fedex at this point said they're are no additional charges. I'm not totally regrettfull of the post though, seeing so many people have had bad expierences with customs, & package delievery to the Philippines. It's a lesson to me, & I hope to others, to really be carefull, sending things to the philippines. It might not be business as usual.

    .

    Thanks, again;

  13. Hello;

    Thanks, for replies. Well, my package was released, & delivered, & I paid the $239.35 for that. This was for taxes, duties, & brokerage, but now they're adding $833.19. So I don't plan on paying it, but I want to fix this situation with FedEx. She already got the ring, & documents around 6-7-13. I just got these additional charges 8-18-13.

    Thanks,

    Rob_D

  14. Hello;

    I sent my finance in Manila, the document package for interview, & she also wanted me to send her the engagement ring. I sent them both to her through FedEx, for around $80.00. I was then notified that the package was stuck, at customs; & to make a long story short, they needed $206, for what I estimated to be $500 value ring. They ended up charging 211.66 for duties, & taxes, & 27.69 for Brokerage Ancillary Service Fees. I wasn't happy about it but paid the 239.35, which was almost half the value of the ring, but she did get the package.

    Now over a month later, fedex sent me a record of an additional, $302.63, for Storage fee, $425.25, for deconsoidation fee,$89.27 value added tax, & $15.00 documentation fee, & a $1.04 service change. So an additional, $833.19, along with the $239.35. Total $1,072.54 for a ring I valued at $500. I agreed to the 239.35, but would of had them send it back or keep it, for an additional 833.19 which I never agreed to pay.

    This is supposed to be a broker as well, but I already paid a brokerage fee with the 239.35.

    What's going on here?

    Thanks, for any insight;

    I'm pretty sick to my stomach, but can't talk to fedex until tomorrow.

  15. Hello;

    I just talked to her, & she says, that name hasn't been in use sense the 4th grade. They say anyone older then 16 needs a police clearance, so maybe we're ok, sense she hasn't used the name sense the 4th grade. It was spelled Jelly on her baptism certificate, & she didn't have a birth certificate. So when they got the birth certificate, they corrected the spelling.

    Thanks, again!!;

    Rob_D

  16. Hello again;

    To add to my post, I'm wondering if we go ahead with the interview, if they turn us down over this, will we be able to get another NBI, & then do another interview, or should we think about cancelling over this now. It's really hard to think of cancelling over this added name spelling, but she just noticed it.

    Thanks,

    Rob_D
