  1. Hello All,

My wife previously came to the states on a J1 work visa and received a social security number. She went back before it expired.

On form I-765/Question 11 it asks: "Have you ever before applied for employment authorization from uscis?"

She never filled out any homeland security forms when she came on the J1. So we are unsure how to answer this question.

I appreciate any help. Thank you.

  2. Everyone!

We got the visa!! I was so nervous, I bought her ticket to fly out tonight and I was anticipating having to change it, but she called me this morning and told me they have it! She is picking it up as we speak!

My baby is flying out late tonight and arriving tomorrow afternoon!!

    WOOHOO!!

Thank you to everyone for your support, especially:

    Yodrak

    Oly

    MandR

I am sorry if I missed anyone, the whole board has made this miracle happen.

    THANK YOU!

  3. Hello All,

My fiance got a yellow slip in her interview. The reason was, one of the three police reports that she brought in was gathered from the wrong department. She now has to get the police report (which takes ten days) and send it in with her passport to the embassy. She then has to wait for the embassy to send her passport with the K1 visa back after that.

My question is, if you were in a similar situation, how long did it take the embassy to send your passport back after you sent it in?

Your information will help us out a great deal. Thank You.

  4. Thanks alexil74

    ALL!!

For those that deal with Peru: Does anyone know if there is a number to call to check the status of your visa if you got a yellow paper??

When my fiance sends in her police report and visa, we will just be hanging there waiting for it to arrive. I am assuming it will take no more than three days, but it would be great if someone could give us status on it's arrival so that I can schedule the airline tickets ASAP.

    thanks!

  5. I agree with you, its not necessary sometimes that the USC attends to the interview when you have solid proof of relationship but in my case for example, i felt better having my fiance next to me during the interview, OLY AND DIDIER (F)

I totally agree with you!! I would have done anything to be there at the interview with her. I know there are other people in my situation who just cannot make it to the interview. I was really worried that she would automatically be denied because I was not there, which was not the case. But, for sure, it is a definite PLUS if the USC can attend the interview.

Thank you raymaga and Oly for the kind words!!

  6. Hello All, I initially said that I would post this review in the Latin forum, but this seems to be the correct forum to post this information, I hope it helps everyone. Please keep in mind, I WAS NOT AT THE INTERVIEW. Here it goes:

Carmen had an interview yesterday, May 23rd @ 7:45am. She arrived at 7:20am and waited in line. There is this helpful guy who points everyone in the right direction, upon Carmen showing him her interview paper, he wrote some numbers on the document and ushered her in the right line. After giving up her cell phone and going thru security, she waited until her name was called. While she waited there were three other girls waiting for the K1 interview. Only one of them had their USC Fiance with them and they got denied even though they said they were together for two years. Carmen then went to to the window (I believe it was window number 7).

The woman there first looked through her papers and talked to her co-workers and kept Carmen waiting by chatting with her co-workers about shopping, etc. This is quite annoying for Carmen, or anyone, considering your whole future is lying in this person's hands. The woman finally started paying attention to Carmen and she began asking the questions:

How did you meet? In Holland.

Where did you meet? Dancing in The Hague.

What was he doing in Holland? Studying Business.

What were you doing in Holland? Participating in a Cultural Exchange.

Does he still go to school? No, he works now.

How many times has he been to Peru? Just once, but he stayed for 3 months.

How do his parents feel about him being with you and not studying anymore? They must be okay because they came to Peru to meet my family.

How many times have you been to the states? 3 times

One which visas? The J1 and the tourist visa.

Do you plan to work when you get to the states? Yes.

After this the woman asked for my support documents. Carmen told her that both of my parents were co-sponsors, which I guess, impressed the lady in the window. The lady looked through the documents and then asked for the proof of our relationship. Carmen had them separated by continent. First she gave her a big packet of pictures, tickets, hotel receipts from Holland, than from America, than from Peru. The lady asked a few more questions about which dates we were in those countries etc.

Carmen was then asked to wait (it turned out to be 45 minutes). The next guy interviewed her at window number 13, I believe. He was an american guy who spoke really slow spanish. Carmen was polite and spoke slow spanish right back, which, he said he appreciated. The guy pretty much asked the same questions that the other woman asked.

After this he started putting stamps all over Carmen's tourist visa rendering it unusable. He explained that one of the three police reports that she submitted was from the wrong building and that as soon as she got this document she would be able to get her K1 visa. This is VERY annoying, because we followed the directions from the embassy PERFECTLY. They even give you a form that explains the mistake on their initial letter.

The man gave Carmen a yellow slip and she went on her way. SO, the police report takes 10 business days to be generated, so Carmen has to sit for another week. I am just thankful that the visa went through!

NOTE: I do not believe that the USC has to attend the interview in Peru. I was not needed. But, I think it helped that Carmen had a Tourist Visa, a J1(work visa), and that we met in Holland. We have proof of spending time on three different continents together, so that was definitely in our favor.

Let me know if anyone has any questions, I will do my best to answer them!!

  7. Isn't Lima one of the interviews that the USC supposedly MUST (officially or unofficially) attend?

I did not attend the interview with my fiancee. They do not require it (I was freaking out for nothing).

    UPDATE:

My fiancee went to get the police report and it will take 10 business days until she can pick it up!! Then she has to send it to the embassy and wait for her visa to be sent back! UGH! I already bought the plane ticket!!! But at least, it is partially approved and we have something to go on...

    thanks for the congrats everyone!

  8. Hello All,

I just got word from my fiancee that her visa was approved!! However...

You have to provide three police reports for the interview and one of the reports she provided was from the wrong location(the addresses are very similar).

So, the agent stamped her passport saying that it is approved but will be revoked if she does not come up with the police report. She was given a yellow slip and headed out.

She is getting the police report as we speak and will be sending it with her passport by DHL today. I will get a whole review of how the interview process went tonight and post it in the Latin America forum.

PS. What does a pink slip mean? She saw some girl get a pink slip, I am guessing that is a denial...

  9. Thanks anytaholland, I read the unoficial rule in this thread:

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4526

We have tons of proof of our relationship and my fiancee has been approved for a tourist visa and a work visa in the past. She even has a social security number.

I read through the interview documents from the embassy myself, and it said NOTHING about my having to be there.

off to check out Jessibicho...

  10. Hello All,

I spent over three months in Peru from January - May. I tried to stay for the interview, but my job would not permit. I came back two weeks before the interview date. My fiancee has to go to the interview alone this tuesday, May 23rd. I am just now reading that Peru has an unofficial rule that the USC has to be at the interview.

The thing is, my relationship with my fiancee is the most genuine I have ever had:

We Met in Holland and spent 8 months together

She came to California to meet my family

I spent 3 months with her family in Peru

We have travelled to many countries together

This is all documented with tickets, receipts, etc. It shows in my passport that I just left Peru 11 days ago.

DO YOU THINK THIS WILL BE A PROBLEM THAT I AM NOT AT THE INTERVIEW!?!?

    :crying:

Please, tell me if you know of people in Peru getting their visas without the USC being there.
