  1. My husband was not given a social security number when he applied because they said he didn't have enough time left on his I-94. Which, to be fair, he did leave it pretty late. However, we are now in AOS. We received our first NOA and have an appointment scheduled for Biometrics. Does anyone know if he can now receive a social security number using his visa and the NOA. We sent in the original I-94 with one of the forms for AOS and now only have copies of the I-94. Does anyone know the process to a social security number outside of using the I-94?

  2. My finance is from England. Since I have the better job, he is going to move here (US) and we are going to get married. However, once we are married we will apply for me to have a VISA to move to the UK and I will try to get a job there before we move back. We only plan on staying in the US for 1-2 years. Do you think this is going to cause problems or raise red flags? I guess we need to stay in the US until his Green Card process is completed, but I don't want it to look as if he only wanted a Green Card (he really couldn't care less about being an American Citizen!)

Anyone ever have a similar situation or know of any reasons why this would be a problem?

  3. Can anyone tell me what this "packet 4" contains? My fiancee had his medical in London and we are waiting for his interview date, but I don't think he's received his "packet 4". Does this have anything to do with the DS-156 form that has to be done online? I don't think he has completed that yet either (although I'm not certain, it may have been done before the medical?)

  4. I'm sorry you got an RFE but at least you know that your case is in progress, what was the RFE for, if you dont mind me asking?

It was for better evidence of meeting in person in the last two years. I sent all kinds of information about all the different times I'd been to England and the fact that I was in school in Scotland from Oct. 2003 - Oct. 2004 (which I'm pretty sure is not more than two years ago), but they wanted other proof. So I copied pages out of my passport, printed off an itinerary (from Orbitz -- do you think this will count as an "itinerary on travel agency letter head"), printed a bank statement with payments that were made in England and with the dates. I hope this is enough, you think?

These things should help, but it would be good if you also had pictures of yourselves together dated, boarding passes or ticket stubs, receipts from hotels or places that you went together while you were there, etc....

I sent pictures to begin with, they said that wasn't good enough. I also sent them the acceptance letter from the University I attended in Scotland from October 2003 - October 2004 and my graduation letter. If that doesn't prove I was in the country, what will? It's so frustrating. I haven't kept an entire scrapbook of every receipt from my visits, after you live in a country for a year and have visited about a dozen times all those things tend to lose their sentimental value.

  6. On everyone's timelines they have where their application was "touched". What does this mean? My application for a K1 Visa has been at the Texas Service Center since January 26 and other than the NOA1 nothing has happened. It's so frustrating to see it just sitting there for almost three months. How long is it going to take!?
