  1. HI guys :D ,

We are waiting on our interview date also. Paid fees & Sent electronic DS 260 May 28th and mailed AOS. AOS received by NVC june 16. The NVC tells me its 30 business days to review the info they get. So 30 business days for electronic DS 260 ( sent May 28th) and 30 business days for AOS (packet included affidavit of support, all other original docs i.e.: marriage certificate, birth certificate, 3 years taxes etc...)

This wait is driving me insane :bonk:

    my husband is very patient

  2. I am a USC and I was told you can no longer file married filing separate and write NRA in spouses SS# or leave it blank. My tax person was not happy I wouldn't just file head of household (I qualify) so she could electronically file. My tax person told me to file MFS I need to request a W7 or ITIN number for my Non Resident Alien (NRA). Also send original passport or Certified copy of birth certificate sounded like a disaster. This route takes time for an approval and your taxes are not filed until approval.

The other option was to count my NRA income abroad with mine, both sign a letter...I thought this was ridiculous.

I rescheduled to weigh more options and enquire.

  3. Thank you. I thought NVC wanted to see married on my tax returns since I married in 2013.

I will review the link you provided. Seems like a hassle for the ITIN dealiediablo.gif

Hey Guys, It's like sooo me again. I found this definition on the IRS website. I pray NVC see's it the same as IRS when they review my taxes. Filing MFS costs me mucho to owe to IRS...

Nonresident alien spouse. You are considered unmarried for head of household purposes if your spouse was a nonresident alien at any time during the year and you do not choose to treat your nonresident spouse as a resident alien. However, your spouse is not a qualifying person for head of household purposes. You must have another qualifying person and meet the other tests to be eligible to file as a head of household.
Choice to treat spouse as resident. You are considered married if you choose to treat your spouse as a resident alien. See chapter 1 of Publication 519.
  4. Hi Everyone,

    Tax question!

I am a USC who married a Dominican Republic Spouse on 1/25/13. Now to report what happened last year on this years taxes.smile.png

He lives and works in the Dominican Republic (currently we have been waiting 9 mo's for I-130)

    What do I file as?

My tax person is trying to make me file head of household and claim my son. My spouse lives abroad and has no SS# and we don't want to give up original passport and or Birth Certificate for W7 application process.

I though it was important for USCIS and NVC to see the status says married when they look at my taxes.

  5. I am holding on. We have been waiting for 9 months for our I-130 approval so far. Thats not even counting the time the NVC will take when we get there. We are experiencing the injustice that everyone here has had or is currently having. Missed anniversaries, holidays, birthdays, achievements, family functions and more. Our lives are unnatural. I am a US born citizen and pursuing my right to happiness is a journey indeed.

  6. I am sorry your current experience with Americans has not been all good. It can be frustrating with the weird accent the family has. Please be patient with yourself and the family. I agree with a previous comment to smile, laugh and ask them to repeat it SLOWLY. Sometimes some repeat it louder instead of slowly. Sometimes people think they are talking slower but are not. LoL. Learning a language takes time even with emersion. Definitely talk to your husband and explain how you feel. What you are experiencing.

I am sorry you had to experience discomfort with that party. Attitudes are a choice. Thank goodness that is over.

The making new friends previous suggestion of smiling and making eye contact is great idea. You may have to do this a lot. Do not be offended if you do not get a response from the people you smile and make eye contact with right away. some people keep to themselves. perhaps give yourself a new number everyday of how many people you will smile at, make eye contact and say hello to.

Remember you are great. The family in time will become more comfortable to talk with you. Sometimes people are more afraid of you than you are of them.star_smile.gif
