  1. I received my RFE letter way after the time I was supposed to send ut back, what do I do?! My online case status says it's still in the RFE stage but I am freaking out and cannot afford to reapply all over again, we had applied for my husbands greencard. He came through a K1 Visa. Any advice? Am I going to have to call the dreaded USCIS? They are so merciless.

The worst part is the RFE is requesting the marriage certificate which I sent in certified and everything! :crying:

  2. What a horrible little mix up! Especially when you are so close to finally having him here! I am so sorry to hear about this and I feel the same way about the line of communication with the consulate. To me it seems like their emails are worded and sent to only get them to stop bothering you, not to help. Because of that we had a mix up with some documents as well even though I had asked for specific clarification from the consulate! Luckily once they had all of our documents it all went really quickly! I wish the best for you as well!

My fiance flew in to LAX last night at midnight! He's now spending some time with his sister before he heads my way! I am just so relieved that he made it! Finally he is on US soil! He's mine all mine!!

  3. ya! that happened to us! They gave us a green slip explaining what it was that he needed. Did your fiance receive that? Anyway the address is:

    Consulado Geral Dos Estados Unidos

    Setor de Vistos de Imigrantes

    Av. Presidente Wilson 147

    Rio De Janeiro RJ, 20030-020

Once we got the document in (he hand delivered it the Friday after his Tuesday interview) he received the visa in the mail about 9 business days after! So it will only delay it as long as it takes to get the document in really. Good Luck and CONGRATULATIONS!

Message me if I can help you at all!

  4. Just make sure to read and understand what the consulate website states for each police record because the states can be different! For example, my fiance did not need an additional one, other than the policia federal, for Brasilia because it is not a state (I guess it makes sense now but it was confusing for us before) He also lived in Sao Paulo for a while and needed one from there. After getting one from online (i'm not sure WHERE he got this) he presented it at the consulate on the day of his interview and it was incorrect! He had to go all the way to SP to get it in person! So just call the state office, the numbers are listed on the consulate site... it can never hurt to double... or triple check!

  5. GRRR isn't that so frustrating! Especially considering you were doing everything you could with the information you had! The officer told my fiance that it would only take about 3 days after they had received the documents but I don't feel very assured when they say "3 days" any more hahaha. We are just hoping he'll get his before July 2! All of his documents were in by June 7 so I hope that's enough time... I am sure it is but the waiting game is not easy! I mean what does "it should not take long" mean anyway? Very relative!!

I'm sure yours will be fine especially if you continue communicating with them! I emailed them this monday just to confirm that the documents were all correct now and here was the response:

The documents were received, all correct. And forwarded to the analysis of the Consular officer. After that the case will go through the final issuance processing. We will notify you if anything else comes up in the case.

I just wish I knew what the time frame is on that but I am sure I am needlessly worrying... it's what I do best! ClockWatch2.gifsmile.png

  6. My Fiance had to send back police certificates. He was given a green form and the address listed on the form is:

    Consular Geral Dos Estados Unidos

    Setor de Vistos de Immigrantes

    Av. Presidente Wilson, 147,Centro

    Rio de Janeiro RJ, 20030-020

Fortunately he was still in Rio so he could personally bring the documents back. But that is the address they told him to mail them back if he chose to do so.

Oh and this was last week so i'm sure the info could not be more accurate! Now you can breathe a little bit more. woooh! And CONGRATULATIONS!

And what did they say to you exactly about the paperwork getting there later, any extra delay etc? i'm obviously very nervous too!

  7. HI Fellow VJers. My fiancee Silmara was approved this morning for a K-1 visa at the US consulate in Rio de Janeiro. I am in a state of happy shock. The last 2 weeks have been very busy and stressful because we only received notice of the interview date 15 days ago. My fiancee had to get a medical exam and the results within this time plus make reservations to travel (air/hotel) from SP to Rio. Not to mention the 2 Atestado de Antecedentes documents that were supposedly available online but in reality she had to go to the Federal Police station twice to get one of them. All of this while working 10 hour days. Yikes!! Anyway it was worth it. My advice is to make an appointment for a medical exam as soon as you receive word that the NVC has sent your petition to the consulate in Rio so as not to experience the stress levels that we did with such short notice. By some miracle (actually many mini miracles and generous friends) it all worked out. We will post a review in the Embassy section when she returns to SP. Best wishes to ALL. dancin5hr.gif

Congratulations! My fiance was approved today as well... well only sort of! His police records were in fact incorrect because like the consulate said you could get them all online and.... ANYWAY he had the wrong ones. He passed his interview and everything still but he has to round up those police records again before they will issue the visa.

I am so upset. This was the only thing I was worried about and and my worst nightmare came true!

Can you guys help me with the certificates you got? Some direction? Anything. I am so sad, I was so excited for this to be all over.

  8. He did live in Sao Paulo but i'm pretty sure SEDEX 10 has next day delivery anywhere in the country, at least that's the theory. 11 days seems like it may not be enough time for her to receive the visa in time, I would give yourself some more wiggle room. Good Luck!! My fiance has his interview on June 4, next tuesday. I'll let you know if I find anything else out!

  9. In my experience, last month, we receuved our RDJ number from the NVC and about a week later I emailed Rio asking if they had received it (I was persistent with the emailing) and as soon as Rio received it they emailed me back with our interview date! they choose the date for you, about a month out from when they receive the case in the mail.

  10. We received our interview date today as well. June 4! I am happy about how soon it will be but also concerned because we ran into a few snags with the passport (yes I am beyond mad that he waited till only last month to get it but hey we had NO IDEA we'd be approved so quickly, be to be prepared!) Now I am just praying with all my might that his passport will be ready in time, I don't want to reschedule! Good luck with yours though, i'm sure she will be fine on her own!

  11. When I received my letter from CSC a few weeks ago it also said the same thing. Under "notice type" it listed the consulate and in the paragraph below it said "the above petition has been approved and forwarded to the listed consulate".

To make matters worse they listed the WRONG consulate so I went a little nuts thinking they were forwarding on to the wrong place. After many phone calls and emails I finally found out that while the service centers write these letters they DO NOT assign the cases to consulates. Which is why it is beyond me that they even write it on the letter!

So in the end the NVC received mine and forwarded it right along to RIo. So long story short, ya they are putting that information on our notices too and they will still be sen straight to the NVC first!

  12. My fiancee' is from Brazil. We just received our NOA2. I know it will take about 3-4 weeks for Rio to receive our package. When can we schedule the interview? Do we need to wait for her to receive the package in the mail with all the required documents? Does the consulate schedule the interview or do we call to schedule. Thanks in advance!

It is my understanding that the consulate will contact you with your interview date. I received my NO2 April 9 and my info was mailed to Rio from the NVC last Wednesday I haven't heard anything yet. Although I'm grateful that i've passed the dreaded petition waiting game I feel like this stage is so very stressful as well. Let us know how your's goes and let me know if you want me to update me on how long mine takes in the end. :)

  14. So i'm obsessive about all of this, and i'm sure i'm in good company around here smile.png buttttt I just wanted to know from any Brazilian filers' experience; how long does it take for your case to get from the NVC to Rio? I just called the NVC, again, and they notified me that my case was mailed out last Wednesday, the 24th I emailed Rio Sunday night to see if they had received our case yet. They had not. How long does it take? Will they notify me via email? SHould I email and check with them again? I'm just trying to get that interview date even earlier than when my fiance receives his packet.

Any tips and tricks?? Thank you!!

  15. This happened with me, Brazil in my case, but at the wrong consulate. I got all worried and contacted everyone! Even the CSC! In the end the service centers don't make the decisions about which consulate it goes to (so it is beyond me why they put the consulates on the NOA2). Anyway, once it gets to the NVC they will assign it to the correct consulate without any problems.
