  1. We have our AOS interview in about a week and we are worried and would appriciate any help or advice.

My fiance came in on a K1 visa and we got married and everything has worked out perfectly, so far. My fiance was here before we applied for the K1 visa on visa waiver program (tourist visa for 90 days) and he was not allowed to work. However, he did a few weeks of work and used his old/existing social security (that he received from a previous work visa). The employer sent out a 1099 tax form (owing $500) which my fiance has yet to file taxes for that year since he only really made a total of 5k.

The possible issue: We have our AOS meeting in about a week and we are worried that the immigration official will have this information. Does anyone know if they look into this type of information? If so, any advince on how to respond or what to say if questioned about it? Should we get an attorney (with one week to our interview)? Has anyone had this issue? Any advice is greatly appriciated.

  2. Thanks!

I will get my fiance to call the Dublin Embassy and see what they say. We put down Dublin because its so expensive to fly to London last minute for an interview plus the costs of hotel and transportation, etc... and its only a short drive to Dublin. Hopefully they will take it. I wish when the K1 is processed for the NOA2 they would tell you if that embassy is ok or not etc....

Ill also message the members you recommended! Thanks!

  3. I just called NVC and was not even expecting it but just got my case number!!!

Does this mean we can call and make an appt with the US embassy in Dublin, Ireland? Does anyone have any info on the Dublin embassy. My fiance is an UK and Irish citizen but lives in Northern Ireland and we decided to put the Dublin Embassy for his interview.

I already have the link the the embassy info here on VJ. Has anyone gone through this embassy ...what kind of information should my fiance should bring etc....

    Thanks!!

  4. if you are unsure if that is your congressperson call the phone number of that person and ask if they are your rep. Yes, they all help with immigration issues. Just call and ask. Mine had a form that I had to fill out and you can either mail it or meet with them. Other people here also mentioned that form. Because it asks your case number, your social, etc... and that is how they can check in on your application and even help push it through faster. Good luck!

  5. It has to be your representative so put in the zipcode of the address you vote for. I think if you live in DC then you can probably have your actual congressperson (from the state you plan to move back) etc...

  6. Just look up online who your congressperson and/or senator is http://www.house.gov/representatives/find/. Look in their website regarding help with federal agencies they usually have a "privacy form" you have to fill out to give them permission to look into your case. You might also need to write a letter stating what is going on and why you need their help. My congresswoman had office hours and I just brought all the forms there and spoke in person to someone. A lot of people here got help and things turned around quickly for them.

  7. Hi Everyone,

I am trying to fill out the i-134 form and not sure what to put under question 7 and 11. I am currently unemployed because I have graduated recently. i am activelly looking for work but it has been though. I was also a student for the past 3 years so my fiance's aunt and husband are going to co-sponsor us.

Not sure if I should just put Unemployed under questions 7 or is there something else I can write down that will make it not look so bad? Also, under number 11 not sure what to put as I live with my parents.

  8. I waited almost 9 months to get my NOA2 (not sure this is what you are calling for because your timeline is not filled out) but I called every week after the 5th mont and it does not affect anything. It's actually just a waste of time because they can't give you more info than what you already know. You can wait and talk to a Tier 2 rep but the wait time is usually over 85 mins and then they don't give out much info. I recommend you meet with your Congressperson or Senator and ask them for help.

  9. Do you have the email of the NVC Research center? How long did it take them to get back to you?

I called USCIS to find out if my case had been send to NVC they wouldn't tell me even after i waited 85 minutes to talk to a Tier 2! He told me that USCIS has 30-45 days to send the file and to be patient because that is not a lot of time. He was giving me a lot of attitude so I got upset and I told him that after waiting almost 9 months just to get our approval a month seems like a lot if he can't even tell me where my file is. He raised his tone with me and said to chill because he has seen people waiting for over a year for an approval and that I should consider myself lucky!

I call NVC daily but no case yet.....so frustrating when others are getting their case number within 6 biz days....I am happy for them ....its just been a long wait!
