  1. Hey how y'all doing it been a while since i came on VJ. I hope y'all had a wonderful xmas and splendid new year. I must say thing aren't going good for me right now, i have been here going on 5 months still haven't file for my AOS i hope that isn't going to be a problem.. Well hopefully before the end of January i will file for it .So i am getting all the paper work ready I was wondering which form of Affidavit of support does my sponsor needs to complete i.e my father in law we all live together, my wife isn't working right now so we are just going to use her dad's income. Which form does he need to complete and which does my wife need to fill out too. The I-864A or the I-864

  2. Hi everyone!!!

So, I have been seeing these kinds of lists on other forums and I thought we didn't have one so I made one :D I just thought it would be a nice way for us to keep track of where everyone is at in the process. Plus, I was bored

As meticulous as I am, I am sure I am missing someone or something is wrong. All the info I got was what I got off the VJ timelines. I only included people who have logged onto VJ since September and have timelines (no timeline, no place on the list). As updates get made I will add/change the list as appropriate.

If something is wrong please PM me and I will make the changes.

  3. Hey Susan,

Welcome to VJ like people above me said it takes a lot of time and it's process is kinda hard but with God it's going to be a success. Remember when you get to Africa take TONS OF PICTURES together with him and his family members it's going to stand as a proof of having met in person and that you have a legitimate relationship going on..

Please feel free to ask questions on here we are your family here on sub sahara region.

    Good Luck,

    Jamil

  4. Telephone bill is not an ablslute, they look at all different methods as a whole. In out case we never used the telephone, TOO DAMN EXPENSIVE to call China.

We had chat logs, emails, and Skype (VOIP) log for interview.

Yes it's not an absolute to have phone bills but you never know what the CO is going to ask first, and if the CO ask for phone bills you say you dont have they may take that against you, remember nigeria and ghana are tough embassies.

  5. My fiancee lives in Lagos, Nigeria and after the whole delay in getting the petiton approved (I filed in May, 2006), we found out we had to file a 601 due to medical reasons. The american consulate officer gave her the waiver forms, and told her to get me to send proof of income - pay stubs and all in addition to the necessary forms and signatures. I sent her enough proof of income which totalled over $9,000/monthly. Even though they stipulated a check payment of $545 they would not accept a US check and I had to send money via Moneygram to her. Anyway, she submitted all documents to them Friday. What is interesting is that the lady just read my supporting letter, took a look at the original copies of my pay stubs and gave them back to her saying, "good". She said she will make an enty on the computer and that she did not need them. Is this normal not to include the proof with the application? Also, her passport was taken and was told the decision is not made at the consulate but that the forms will be sent out. Is it also normal to hold on to the passport during the entire waiting period?

Anyone gone through the waiver process in Lagos? How long did you have to wait?

It's a good thing that they took her passport, that should tell you that they are willing to give her the visa; just hang in there and pray you will hear something good real soon.

    Good Luck,

    Jamil

  6. I was denied the K-3 visa after the CO learnt that my parents were not at our wedding. Why is this so? I didn't want them to come because they expressed so much fear and doubt in our union and I decided not to invite them to something they don't believe in. Also,NVC informed me that they are thru with processing our K-1 application over two months ago, and we were told that I'd be contacted by the Embassy for interview, but I haven't heard from them since then. Is there anything wrong?

You could have arranged someone to stand as your parents because their presence matters a lot that will convince the CO that the relationship is legitimate and approved by both parents and also you can not have K1 and K3 going at the same time.

    Good Luck,

    Jamil

  7. Hi all. I am just on here to say thanks for your comments and concerns and things. My fiance, if you want to call him that, and I have split because of his dishonesty and suspicion. He said that he received the medical results on Monday and that he failed. He wouldn't tell me what he failed. He kept acting stuck on stupid. He said that's why he didn't go to the interview. He could have went and probably got a blue slip or something to return and have another medical done and gotten a visa. THE IDIOT! No communication, no working it out. He had me in suspense all day long Tuesday. I even took the day off work to hear from him. Here I was thinking that he was at the interview, when all along he didn't go. He didn't call me or text me or email me, NOTHING. He didn't have the guts to call me when he received the medical results ON MONDAY! We could have called the embassy to reschedule or something.

He took my money which was originally meant for the embassy fee and spent it on things while he was in Lagos. He told me he spent it. Ugh! I tried calling him all day long Tuesday and Wednesday only to have the phone ring and ring. I knew he was nearby because one time I called he turned his phone off in the middle of the ringing. I was in a total state of oblivian all day long!! I didn't know what was going on. Was it something I'd done? Surely, not. All I had given him was my understanding, patience, love, and time...and I've sacrificed a lot for him too. He still wouldn't have told me anything if I hadn't perservered on the situation and almost literally had to beg him to tell me what happened.

Finally, I got a hold of him on Wednesday and he was already back in Port Harcourt! He went through all this almost without telling me about anything?! The JERK! (Excuse my language.) I know that he probably felt intimidated to tell me the whole story about his medicals, but to leave Lagos and go back to Port Harcourt without calling me and letting me know anything was toooootally strange. I am glad that I prepared myself with God's covering throughout this process. If it wasn't for God's saving grace in my life, I probably would have flew me and my mob down to Nigeria to beat him in the head. Three whole years have we known each other and it has come down to this. I can't believe how much he's changed since three years?!...and yes there is more than meets the eye between him and I as well that we went through during this journey. The pretences, the lies, the childishness. I will not go into modified detail here though.

What a fool I was. I just kept calling myself that. God loves this fool, God's grace is sufficient and his mercies are new. I guess you live and you learn. NEVER AGAIN, NEVERRRRRR AGAIN!!!! I am glad also that I didn't find this out during married life! WHEW! Thank you JESUS! You've done it again! God has someone better in store for me. I know that all African men are not like this one, but just be careful out there and pray for discernment and perserverance. Have all your ducks in a row. God never fails. Thank you all for everything.

Oh God! First of all i am very to hear that your 3yrs VJ ended like this; this kind of men are given us the good ones bad names.... He said he failed the medicals what part did he fail was it the physical or the lab test. To my knowledge the only thing that will make him fail the medicals or not going to the interview is only if he tested HIV positive and he's not man enough to tell you that; because all other tests that were taken at the medicals are treatable like if he was tested positive for STD's, X-ray all of these diseases are treatable.

Believe me God has a reason for doing this, maybe he doesn't deserve you or he's not the right man for you plus i know that God has a special package for somewhere; i truly admire your courage after spending lots of $$$, time and many more still you handled the whole issue with maturity and confidence....Please take heart, have patient God will surprise you soon.

    Take care and God bless.

  8. Hey Everyone,

My wife is in the hospital she has some type of mental illness and really i and the her family are worried we don't know when the hospital is going to release her because her condition is not getting better.

I just arrived here about 3weeks ago and we haven't applied for EAD nor have we applied for AOS; Should we just go ahead and apply for the EAD/AOS or what should we do.... I know that the K3 visa is 2years before expiration. We are hoping she will be better very soon but what if she doesn't until my visa expires, she was diagnose of schizophrenia there is no time limit for this type of mental illness, I have made lots of research on the internet and read that some people with this type of illness could be in the hospital for years...We are seriously praying that her condition gets better. We have been married for 2years now , i really don't know what is going to happen to me i am so confused the family are too.....Right now we don't know what to do; Please VJers remember us in your prayers that my wife gets better.

  9. Hello Everyone,

I am getting things together to send my husband is interview is coming up soon Oct.31st.

Can you tell me which original documents I need to send?

These are the original documents I need to send:

    I-134

    Marriage Certificate

What else original? or can I send copies?

    Birth Certificate

    Passport

    Thanks!

    Hey Ara,

You need the original copy of your marriage certificate and your husband's birth certificate, your birth certificate is not needed at the interview, copies of your federal tax return for 3yrs,copies of your bank accounts that shows current balance, pay stubs, letter from your employer, just any financial paper that will proof to the CO that your husband is not likely to become a public charge while in the US plus make sure you have TONS of evidence that will proof that you have an ongoing relationship for real.

If you meet these primary requirements i tell you babe your husband is on his way to America  ....

You are in my prayers Amy.

    Good Luck,

    Jamil

  10. Yup, Nigerian postal service SUCKS!!!!!!! The affidavit of support has to be an original, I believe. So the only way to accomplish that is to send it via DHL or FEDEX. Your choice. I use fedex. I have not had any problems - except for when I messed up the address once :o

    Good luck!!

If you your fiancee doesn't receive the documents by monday i suggest you fax him the papers including the affidavit of support as long as it shows the notary stamp on it ... My wife sent me the affidavit via email"She scanned and emailed it to me all i did was printed it out and took it to the interview the next morning.

    Good Luck.

  11. When I sent mine I used DHL.....You can keep track of it from the moment it leaves to the time it arrives through the on line system.....It takes 3 days to get there.....

I agree with this, my wife usually use DHL and it will arrive nigeria in 3 business days but sometimes it can be delayed due to clearance processing in the USA.. Your fiancee should have told you that Nigerian postal service is sh*t they package may have arrived there in 8 business days as the USPS says, nigerian postal service will take all the time in the world to go deliver it. I will advice you to tell your fiancee to go the nearest post office.

  12. Hi VJ's I have a little problem. On my fiance birth certificate they have his mom name Elizabeth but his mom name is Florance. On our I-129F for his mom's name I put Florance name. What do he need to do to correct this problem before the interview? Thank You I hope someone can help me. :help:

Have him correct it asap, it should cost about #500 or #1000 naira to get it corrected.

    Good Luck,

    Jamil

  13. We have been put on Adimn. Process......Due to the fact that he was in Libya for about 4 years .....They are doing a security check.....From what I have gathered from the NVC office in Washington.D.C The Lagos Embassy will be sending something through the computer to the Office in Washingtom D.C to have a security check of some kind and once he is cleard then he will be informend on when to come back to get his visa........So does anyone know if that sounds normal? and how long it will take?????

I am so so sorry to hear that you were placed on AP....I can imagine how you feel after all the stressed, emotional feelings plus all the $$$ spent come to find out that you were placed on AP.

Please don't worry like Arinola said delays dont mean denial we will continue to put you in our prayers INSHA ALLAH i belive they will call you soon. Please don't feel bad remember God's time is the best .

    Best Wishes,

    Jamil
