I am submitting my I-751 in a day or two.
How long will the whole process take?
Will I be able to travel in about 6 months, if my application is not approved?
Thank you!

Yes, I meant K-3

Wanna hear a funny story?
So I entered on K-1 in July of '06 and then got approved and entered US on CR-1 visa in January of '07 and.... STILL DON'T HAVE MY PHYSICAL GREEN CARD!!
An infopass appointment revealed that after I left my file at the airport in Montreal, they never entered any of my information into the computer and the proceeded to LOOSE my entire file!! Therefore, I had to gather what copies I had of things that got filed and received by me so that they can begin reconstructing the file... I will have to do a new biometrics appt etc. However, they did put a stamp in my passport which acts as a green card...I sometimes have issues at POEs and have to explain the whole story. Grrr
You can't even imagine my frustration with the gvmt at this point!
-
...also, what would you advise I bring with me except my passport?
kthnx

No It's been the address has been the same...
And my husband is home (most of the time) when the mail comes and I always watch for delivery notification...and nothing...
-
I did it. I don't like not knowing
Has anyone else not received their GC in that long?!
-
Um so I was approved back in January and it has been almost 6 months and I still have not received the GC in the mail...I'm starting to get frustrated and worried...
Are there any steps that I should be taking?
Help!

Ummm
So, I didn't fill out any forms when I left Canada (tax forms) and I think my parents are actually filing the taxes for me with $0 income for 2006...Now, we already did the taxes here...I'm pretty sure that the box "final return" was not checked...Is that absolutely necessary? Am I gonna run into problems?
Uhh I will not lose the CAD citizenship, right?
Uggg more questions!

She DID enter LEGALLY
She DID work and file taxes until her visa waiver ran out
reason for overstay - I do not know
-
Hmm
Ok, thanks for your replies
We'll direct them to an imm lawyer

It seems to me that the person in question needs an immigration lawyer... if they want a lawyers help @ all it should be one that can actually help
Seems to ME that all a lawyer would do in this case is act as an agent and fill out the paperwork. You don't need to be an immigration lawyer to do that. It's a fairly simple process for them. No kids involved etc.

That is what he is trying to decide.
Since I JUST went through immigration process, I can fill out all the paperwork and explain the process to them

Hi all!
So I have a question...If someone entered on a visa waiver program and overstayed since 2002, then got married, is there a chance that her AOS will get approved? Assuming, of course, that there is a good reason for her to have stayed so long (which, by the way, I know nothing about).
My boss is trying to decide (lawyer, but not an immigration lawyer) whether we should help this person with the paperwork.
I mean, all the questions are going to come up in the interview, right? We can fill out all the paperwork for her for AOS, and that is all anyone can do, right? Is the process different for someone who overstayed so long? Are we going to run into problems if the boss is not an immigration attorney? Is AOS her only way? (I looked over all the other processes but AOS is the only one that does not require her to leave the country).
Now, please, I don't want to hear judgement for this person, just your input on how difficult the process will be. Thanks!!!

La Tour Centerville
I was very impressed with the prices and the hotel itself! They have kitchens and couches in the rooms.
It is also literally across the street from the consulate!
-
Yay! Good luck! Hope it all went well!

So...
The interview in Montreal was a breeze! The consular said "this is more a formality for people that already got their K-3". So, if you went through the K-3 process, the CR1 interview is probably not going to be very difficult. Also, they DID give me the passport back the next day!!! Apparently, they are doing this for the people that ALREADY LIVE IN THE US. Of course, there are still no guarantees. I interviewed with a very nice consular, and that could have had a lot to do it. He said that if you still live in Canada (didn't do K-3 and do not reside in the US), they just ask you to go home and they mail the visa, but for people residing in the US, they give it to you next day. That makes sense, except I'm not happy about the lack of communication between branches of government about thing like these...Anyhow, I'm back home and very happy about it
Good luck to everyone!
P.S. It is only MY experience and MY opinions about the interview process, so PLEASE DO NOT take my words as general facts!

Good idea for those that have the interview later in January and so on

I'm not doing AOS Going for the CR-1 interview.

So a woman from Medisys is saying that in order to pick up a copy of my medical, I need a WRITTEN request from the montreal consulate requesting a copy????????
I thought I could just go and pick one up. Has anyone else run across this???
-
HA! I found the original
But my notary's commission has expired...is that a problem? Do I have to re-do it and get re-notarize it?
Thanks!
How long is the wait. And travel.
