  1. just checked the timeline for those who filed I-751 in March.

seem no one of us get their Bio. app. letters so far.

So USCIS just checked our checks and then??? :clock:

    I'm in the same boat!

We mailed the packet to CSC for my husband on Monday, March 10, and received the NOA 1 year extension on Friday, March 14 (dated March 11), and haven't heard anything since!

I was optimistic seeing people recently filing with CSC and getting their Bio Appt in the mail only a couple weeks after filing, but those couple weeks have come and gone...

So I've been doing the same thing, checking on the timelines for people that filed around the same time as I did and found that either they haven't received there Bio appts, or haven't updated their timelines.

Anyhow, though its a crappy situation to be in, its nice to know there are other in the same situation. AOS wasn't very smooth for us (they never processed EAD or a Biometrics Appt., we got our interview first, made things long and complicated....), so I was hoping this would be a breeze... For all of our sakes (and sanity!) I hope the get a move on it!

  2. I never noticed this thread and had no idea I had been added to it! I was just about to add myself when I saw I was already there! hah! Anyway, just updated my info. My husbands biometrics was actually the same day as the interview. After the interview, in fact. We got approved 8 weeks to the day post interview. We got the bio appt at the interview. Green Card should be here soon though! We are so excited! I definitely wish the best to the rest of you that are still pending. I know how much of a wreck its made me and my husband being in limbo and not knowing what's going on....

  3. My wife had the same thing happen yesterday with her EAD. Last week, we got an e-mail that her EAD was approved and a new card was ordered. Then yesterday we got a e-mail stating the application was approved and an approval notice will be mailed to her.

I'm not sure what to think of the second e-mail, other than it may be something that gets sent out even though it does not neccessarily apply to the particular case.

I'm jealous that you even heard anything about the EAD!!! We never did. What a waste.

But I'm glad to know that I wasn't to the only one to be puzzled by their cryptic messages.... Thanks for sharing!

  4. So, last week we received the welcome letter mailed case status update, followed a few days later by the welcome letter telling us that our case would be approved.

Yesterday, I received the "we've ordered you a new card" update telling us that his card will be mailed as soon as it is ready.

And now today I get this update:

This case has been approved. On June 13, 2006, an approval notice was mailed. If 30 days have passed and you have not received this notice, you may wish to verify or update your address. To update your address, please speak to an Immigration Information Officer during business hours.

Which confused me, because I thought the welcome to America letter was an approval notice. Does this mean they have mailed his card? Or do they send yet another letter stating case approval?

Does anyone have experience with these updates? Or can anyone share their end of AOS experience?

  5. After anxiously checking my e-mail for two months (since the interview, the case hasn't been touched since January...) I got an e-mail yesterday saying the following:

Application Type: I485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status

    Current Status:

On June 6, 2006, a welcome notice was mailed for this case. If 30 days have passed and you have not received this notice. Please call the National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283 during business hours.

How great is that?!?!?! It hasn't come in the mail yet, but its on its way. Hopefully soon to be followed by a Green Card! We're almost done for two years!!!

Still what's frustrating is his EAD never even got processed. What a waste... I mean we were able to finally get an interim EAD a couple weeks ago... But it feels like such a waste of $200, thanks USCIS.... Oh well. Its mostly over for a while, and THAT is awesome.

Good luck to everyone, and thank you for all your help and support!

  6. My first question is that the form states "I am in the united states as a : visitor, student, perm.resident, other" I know I need to mark other because I'm neither of the rest so what to I put that i'm here on a K-1 or that i'm waiting for my aos?

My second question is that it asks for work or school addy that I am attending, I am attending neither so I can just put N/A in this section right?

My third question is where it says port of entry, do I just have to type in the airport in which I entered the United States?

Fourth question, It asks if I'm not a perm. resident when does my stay in the u.s. expire ... what do I put here if I came over on a K-1 visa last year and waiting upon my aos?

    Thanks All

    CanGal

I think we put "K-1 Visa Holder"

N/A or none should be fine

Yes, the city of airport in which you entered the US (we put "Los Angeles, CA" because he flew into LAX)

    and we put "AOS Pending"

I hope that helps! Like they said, fill out an I-865 for the sponsor, and mail it to the addresses notated on the forms as well as any offices where you have pending cases at. Also, call the 1-800 Number and change address with them and just to be safe, check with them in a couple weeks to make sure it's all changed.

    Good luck!

  7. One month ago today, my husband and I went in for his AOS interview. They had never given us a fingerprint appointment, so they weren't able to officially approve him, but they approved him upon FBI name check clearance and fingerprints.

So, they gave us the fingerprint paperwork and tried to go get an interim EAD downstairs at the infopass windows. They too told us that they couldn't give him one (even though it had been longer than 90 days from filing...) without fingerprints and that all the processing had been done, just waiting on fingerprints. So they gave us another form to get fingerprints for the EAD.

After this, we immediately went and got the biometrics taken, and were told that his EAD would come in a couple weeks.

    Time passes.

    nothing.

Everyday, we rush to the mailbox, only to return disappointed with maybe some crappy ads and coupons (aka: trash).

So, finally we decide to call the wonderfully helpful (can you sense the sarcasm?) 800 number.

They tell us that they hadn't received notice of completion of his biometrics, and that the fingerprint place has up to 60 days (yes, TWO WHOLE MONTHS) to submit them! BUT that if we go back to the DO, he is eligible for an interim EAD. (which I am pretty sure they should have given us the first time around.... jerks.)

So, we go down there this morning. They lady looks at our case. Sees record of his biometrics (funny that it shows up on her computer....) and says "that's funny, usually it only takes a week to arrive after fingerprints, I don't see why its taking so long" Yeah. We don't either. Real funny.

But, alas we did get him an interim EAD and went over to Social Security to try to get that ball rolling. They couldn't issue him a card yet, since we just got the EAD today and it hasn't been updated in their SAVE system, but they are submitting the paperwork and putting a rush on it, so it should come in a couple weeks.

Like a lot of you, we're just tired of waiting! The most frustrating part is that we've followed all their rules, done everything when asked, and the way they wanted it done, why can't they follow their own rules when it comes to our case? When we try to get answers, they look at our case, and wonder "hmm, why did they do it that way?" rawr.

I can't wait till this is all over. I'm really not all that bitter about it, I just wanted to get this off my chest. I'm actually really happy that things are finally, but very slowly starting to come together!

Good luck to you all! I hope they don't put any of you on hold like they have to us... My poor husband has felt so useless the past seven months that he's been in America... At least now he can almost start his new life for real!

  8. Congratulations  Was the interview at the Federal Building at the Civic Center Plaza? I can see that building from my office window!

Yes! 34 Civic Center Plaza was the address!

I saw your post earlier, and sadly we didn't see you waving ;)

Thank you much for the good luck though, I'm sure it helped get us a nice officer!

lool men would forget their head if it wasnt screwed onto their shoulders!!!

My Husband just said "its unfortunate that mine's only attached with tape..." :star:

    and thank you snz1802!!

  9. We've been preparing for this interview for about the past month, but really settling down into organizing what we need to bring within the past week, as our formal wedding was held on March 26. So, knowing that my husband has the tendency to be slightly forgetful and/or overlook things, I prepared the following:

    A Binder with twelve dividers:

1..........Vaccination Supplement form I-693: Sealed Envelope from Civil Surgeon, copy and vaccination worksheet from UK Physical

2..........Updated Sponsor/Wife Form I-864 and supporting documents: employer letter, tax forms (including 2005), Pay stubs

3..........Updated Co-Sponsor Form I-864 and supporting documents: tax forms (including 2005), birth certificate, proof of income (Social Security/Retirement

    4..........I-797 Notice of Action Documents: I-485, I-765, I-129F noa2, I-129F noa1, I-485 interview notice and cancellation (pre-change of address)

5..........Birth Certificates: UK and US citizen (w/ new social security card noting name change of USC to married name

    6..........Marriage Certificate and copies

7..........Adoption Record for the “children” (cats)

8..........Compilation of evidence of a relationship: Cards from eachother/friends/family (+ copies), wedding save the date and program, photobooth pictures from wedding, dual membership zoo passes, wedding guest list

9..........Health Care and Benefit enrollment through USC's Employer, noting UK citizen as spouse

10........Bills to the shared residence in both our names: Electricity, Water and Gas bills

11........Apartment Lease Agreement, in both names. Renter’s Insurance, in both names

12........United Kingdom Police Record for UK Citizen

    Along with:

    An updated G325A, if needed

Copies of UK citizen's passport, visa and I-94

    Copies of K-1 and
    AOS
    submissions

Wedding Guest book and Photo Mat signed by friends and family

Photo Album containing pictures from throughout our relationship

So, we were feeling pretty good about it. We thought we had everything organized and userfriendly and we were going to dress smartly and go rock the interview.

We left our place at about 7:50am for our 9:35am interview. We arrived at the location at about 8:45 after stopping for a bite to eat quickly. It took us a while to find the right building, and we realized that we hadn't parked close to it when we finally found it. We get to the security check and they ask if we have a camera phone. I did. So BACK to the car to drop it off... Finally we get back to the security, go through and on up to the second floor.

We check in security there and he asks for ID's. I take out my passport, and Chris says to me "Do you have mine?" Now, having compiled the entire packet for the interview, my husband's Identification didn't seem like one of my responsibilities. For some reason, he assumed that I had put it with our collection of evidence, but sadly I had not and didn't even know where he kept his passport at home.

So, yes folks, that's right. My husband forgot his passport containing his K-1 Visa and I-94 at home when attending his AOS Interview.

Needless to say, my previous preparedness and calm was then broken, and I mildly freaked out. I became incredibly nervous and even (dare I admit it...) started crying... They let us into the waiting room using his UK drivers license, but I was sure that once we got into the room with the immigration officer they were going to tell us that we were wasting their time by showing up with out it and then we'd be waiting another month or so for another interview at best....

(Disclaimer: I love my husband to death. I wouldn't be doing all of this if I didn't. He's just, like I said before, a bit scatterbrained and forgetful at times... And he's right here helping me write this post)

We waited for maybe 15 minutes, and we were called in.

We get to the room, and the officer sweared us in and asked for ID, so this is when Chris told him that he didn't have his passport with him...

And the Immigration Officer said it was OK!!!!!

Man, I was SO relieved, I cried again. He told us that since we hadn't been given a biometrics appointment, he couldn't approve us today anyway (which I already knew), so it was OK that we didn't not have the passport with us. He was VERY nice about it.

OK, so on with the interview:

He then asked Chris the following (while looking through our rather thick file)

Name, Address, Date of Birth, Phone Number, have you ever been married before and if he had any children.

He asked me if I'd been married before and if I had any children.

Finally, he asked Chris how we met.

Then went through the whole terrorist, have you ever voted/registered to vote in the US, etc...

Next, he asked for 2005 tax information. He didn't even want the I-864, just the w-2's and returns for myself and our co-sponsor. Followed by evidence of a shared residence, specifically bills in both our names. So he kept some copies of our bills.

Then he wanted pictures, so we showed him our photo album. He wanted to make some photocopies, but we told him just to take the originals. We made the copies specifically for the interview, so it was fine with us.

It all ended with him giving us a biometrics appointment and told us that we are approved pending fingerprint clearing and the completion of the FBI Name Check (which he told us was filed on Jan 9th, and should finish any day now).

I inquired about the EAD, as he hasn't heard anything about it since filing, and he told us to talk to someone at the windows downstair (where one would go for infopass)

So, after waiting down there a bit, we got to talk to another officer and they told us that a hold had been put on his EAD because he hadn't had fingerprints yet. But they had never given him a fingerprint appointment. You'd think they'd be smarter than that right?

So, though its been well over 3 months since filing and submitting the RFE, all the gave him was an EAD bio appt... He did say that the card should be mailed out as soon as they get the fingerprints, so hopefully in a week or two he'll have it!

And then, in about a month or so, he should have his green card!

So, everything ended up pretty well, despite the hiccup.

The moral of the story: don't forget your passport!!!

  10. My husband's AOS interview is at 9:30 tomorrow morning. We're surprisingly not very nervous and feel pretty prepared, MUCH thanks to this board!

I've been reading everyone's lists of what they brought for weeks and gathering "evidence" and all that fun stuff. I organized the binder this evening and made it all user friendly with dividers and a table of contents and the like.

I'll post the details of our binder tomorrow when we get back, along with the outcome of the interview. I don't think he'll be getting his Green Card, because we're one of the weird cases that hasn't been given a Biometrics Appointment yet, but hopefully at least they'll give him an EAD and bio appt so he can actually start his life here!

Regardless, wish us luck!! We need to get some sleep now!

Thank you all again for your help and support!

  11. My Husband's interview is coming up on April 5th. But our formal wedding is on March 26th! So, in all the wedding stress, I haven't thought much about the AOS interview.... Though I have started compiling stuff.

    - I bought a folder, sheet protectors, dividers and a photo album.

    - I asked HR to give me a statement with my wage and hours and stuff.

    - I started a folder on my computer of pictures that I want to get printed for the photo album.

All of our other paperwork is filed together, so its just a matter of organizing it into the binder.

I'm not really nervous, I'm actually kind of excited!! I like going through all of our "evidence." It's a reminder of our relationship and all we've been through thus far to be together today!

Just take it easy and start getting your "evidence" together. That should help with your nerves; feeling totally prepared should lower your stress level. Of course I say this now, but come April 1st or so, I'll probably be freaking out as well!!! Good luck!!

  12. My poor husband didn't get his SSN before we got married, and they denied him when he tried after. Without it, we have to wait for approval of EAD or AOS (whichever comes first, at this rate...) and in the mean time he is unable to do anything.... He can't join my bank account, he can't get a driver's license, he can't work... He does a lot of sitting at home, while I go to work all day.

Basically, just be prepared that you may be doing a lot of nothing for a while because it can take up to a year or more in some cases to get a green card. Some are luckier, but just be prepared if you choose that route. EAD is often issued within about 100 days, and opens a few more doors for immigrants than just the ability to work.
