Also where was your interview? NYC?

    Thanks

My interview was in Newark, NJ.

    Timeline:

    June 2012 - filed I-360

    October 2013 - I-360 approved

    November 2013 - Filed I-485

    January 26, 2015 - Interview for I-485

February 6 - Went back to USCIS office with a new medical exam

February 13 - Green card mailed

  2. Dear friends,

Just wanted to share my experience with interview for green card. It was scheduled for January 26. The immigration officer was very nice. She asked my date of birth, a copy of my divorce, all my work permits and advance paroles. She compared APs to a list of entries that I made last year to make sure my AP cards were valid when I was entering the US. I made about 5-6 trips on advance parole last year. She asked how many time I was married. I was married only once. Because I filed my I-485 in November 2013, my medical exam expired. She asked for a new copy and I did not have it. She looked at the schedule of next available appointments and asked to come back in two weeks with a new copy of medical report. She also let me make a call to a doctor while in her office to make sure I could schedule an appointment to be able to return in 2 weeks. So guys, I would suggest that you do a new medical exam if you know for sure that your previous one expired. I went back with my new medical on February 6. The officer opened an envelope, looked it through and said she would approve my case. When I left the office I received an email saying that they registered my permanent residency. Today I received another email saying that card is in production and will be mailed to me.

I would like to thank Sandranj for all her help. Sandra, I very much appreciate all your help throughout my journey. It was a very long and difficult road for me but finally I made it to the end. This would not happen without such wonderful people like Sandra. I am wishing luck to everyone. Thanks again everyone!

  3. nicesky, I waived fees for filing I-485. I renewed my work authorization just recently and did not pay any fee either. I did the filing myself. I filed on September 10 and was approved on December 3. It took about 84 days to approve. I read on-line that you can call and place service request with uscis if your application is pending for more than 75 days. I called them after 80 days being pending, on Friday, and they approved it few days later, on Monday. Good luck!

  4. Iank if you filed form I-765 more than 90 days ago and they did not mail you yet then you can ask for an interim EAD .You have to go to InfoPass and place a service request for a interim card, but i heard many people that went there once, twice and they said they no longer issue Interim EAD .You can try,but if they do not give you, then call to the customer service and tell them that your EAD has been pending more than 90 days and ask for a service request.

Thank you very much Sandra! 90 days will be next week for me. I'm just worried and don't want to loose my job because my current work permit expires at the end of December. Hopefully, they will issue a new one soon. I already lost my job once because of this situation and don't want it to happen again. Thank you again for your help.

  5. Sandra I was married to LPR. I filed I-485 before my vawa was approved and first they accepted it but then denied saying that visa number was not available. I refiled I-485 when I received vawa approval. Today I received two letters from uscis that both of my I-485 are transferred to NBC. The status online says for both of my applications that they were transferred to local office. I do not understand why they would transfer my initial denied I-485 to local office. Wouldn't it be confusing for them to receive two I-485 applications? Should I contact them and explain the situation? Thank you.

  6. Hi lank how do you know if your case was transferred to local office . since my vawa got approved 08/08/2014 and the I 485 changed from interview to initial review i didn't hear nothing from them

Flexx I filed I-485 in November 2013. I have not heard anything until yesterday. I received an email and a message from uscis on my phone that the status got updated. I checked it and it says the it was transferred to local office.

  7. Iank Vermont transfers the Vawa cases maximum in 30 days after approval .. DID you inquire Uscis ombudsmen ? About your case? Did you call your congressman? If not, then it's time to contact them.

Sandra if they are supposed to transfer the case within 30 days where would i file I-765 to renew it? I filed it to VSC. Did I have to file it somewhere else? Thank you.

  8. Sandra I filed for I-485 in November 2013, my I-360 was approved in October 2013. I still have not heard anything on my interview. I called and wrote to them. Spoke to immigration office and he said that my I-485 is still in VSC and it was not transfered. I can't understand the reason why they keep it there and don't transfer. Also, my previous I-485 was denied because I filed it concurrently with I-360 and my husband was LPR. USCIS accepted it and then denied. I refiled my current one after I-360 was approved. Do you have cases with I-485 pending for such a long time? They took my fingerprints for the first I-485. Do you know if I need to go for fingerprints again? Thank you in advance for your answer.

  9. If a fee has been paid for an I-485 then all EAD and AP applications either submitted concurrently with it or afterwards are always free. You would simply enclose a copy of the NOA for your I-485 with the AP or EAD application to show that you paid the I-485 fee, and so there would be no charge for your I-131 (for AP) or I-765 (for EAD).

Hypnos if the fee for I-485 was waived, do you have to pay for ead and ap in that case?

  10. You are right lank silly me I sent my mind in a frenzy over nothing its the PD of my I360 petition im still behind because its May31 2012 but still close enough hope it moves forward for July bulletin...hope all is well lank!

I'm also behind, my priority date for I360 is june 15, 2012. I really hope it moves forward before October. Everything is fine with me Faithkeeper. Working... what else can I ask for?! :)

  11. Cielo&others, I received so many messages, pm and emails today, then here is how it works the cut-off date.To qualify for an Immigrant number the date that the petition was filed(priority date) MUST FALL BEFORE than the cut -off date. As I said before if your priority date is AFTER the cut-off date then you will not have an immigrant visa number available now.

Here is what USCIS stated in their web site.

    Visa Retrogression

Usually the cut-off dates on the Visa Bulletin move forward in time, but not always. Demand for visa numbers by applicants with a variety of priority dates can fluctuate from one month to another, with an inevitable impact on cut-off dates. Such fluctuations can cause cut-off date movement to slow, stop, or even retrogress. Visa retrogression occurs when more people apply for a visa in a particular category or country than there are visas available for that month. Retrogression typically occurs toward the end of the fiscal year as visa issuance approaches the annual category, or per-country limitations. Sometimes a priority date that meets the cut-off date one month will not meet the cut-off date the next month. When the new fiscal year begins on October 1, a new supply of visas is made available and usually, but not always, returns the dates to where they were before retrogression.

If, at the time of adjudication, an applicant’s priority date no longer meets the cut-off date published in the Visa Bulletin, due to retrogression, his or her case must be held in abeyance until a visa once again becomes available. If the adjudication of your Form I-485 will not require an in-person interview at a USCIS office, then your case will be held at the USCIS Service Center where you initially filed your application.

If you have been interviewed at a USCIS office and a visa is not available, then USCIS may hold your case at the following locations until a visa becomes available

Sandra, so do they stop processing I-485 until visa number gets available or with they process it and then we'll just need to wait until priority becomes current to get a green card?

  12. hi guys im still here reading an keeping abreast of all the approvals etc. So I feel a little down today my lawyer messed up my case and sent in another I485 application dated October 2013 I finally got an interview date but with the new DV Bulletin I may have to wait for a number/approval before receiving my green card I do have an old application in and hoping they will be able to use it I feel under the weather now.

Hi Faithkeeper It is my understanding that they will use the priority date of your petition (when your I-360 was filed) not the date when you filed your I485? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
