  1. Good luck at the interview! We interviewed at New Delhi for the K1 visa and received the visa within 1 week of the approved interview. My husband had his shipped to the DHL office closest to his home though. If you can pick it up in Delhi then maybe it will be faster (I am not sure if this is an option though)

  2. My fiance interviewed in New Delhi and never received an interview packet. I kept calling DOS from the US to see when his interview was. They have access to the embassy info in their system and can tell you the date. You can also email the travel docs website for your interview letter so, that you have one for your medical appt (you need it). It takes about 10 days to obtain your medical results so, be sure to give yourself enough time before your interview. Good luck!

  3. My fiance had his medical in Delhi about 3 weeks prior to the interview. It takes them about 7 business days to process the results so, I would suggest scheduling his medical as early as possible (once he has the interview letter) so, that you're not rushing to get it right before his interview. Have him bring his medical records in case there are vaccines that he has already received - I'm not sure how it works for the CR1 visa but, with our K1 we will need these medical forms once my fiance arrives in the US. His total medical fees came to less than Rs 5,000. Good luck!

  4. My fiance interviewed at the New Delhi embassy - as soon as they received his application, he mailed the forms from packet 3. I also called DOS daily to find out when his interview was scheduled for. The number for DOS is 202-485-7600. You will need your case number and then they can tell you when the interview date is and if the embassy has received all of his forms yet. Good luck!

  5. Thank you! Good luck to the both of you as well :). Please be sure to let us know how it goes!

Seems that US Travel Docs is giving out mixed information. My fiance contacted them about this and they advised that he should complete the 260 and not the 230. My finance is also going to take a printout of his conversation with them to his interview and he has completed both the 260 and the 230. Because of the "spouse" question this form certainly doesn't seem to apply to K1 applications but I have talked with others who were told the same thing we were so it's just confusing.

Wishing your fiance good luck on his interview smile.png

  6. You can call the DOS at 202-485-7600 and give them your receipt number, eventually they'll give you a case number and then an interview date. I called them for info because it was much easier than calling the embassy in India every day and they have access to the same information in their system. They can't change anything but, they can keep you updated on your case. Good luck!

  7. Hi,

My fiance has his interview on Oct 3rd in Delhi. I emailed US Travel docs as well because I keep seeing posts about the DS-260. We have already sent in his DS-230 and have been told that all of his necessary documents are there. US travel docs emailed me back saying that we do not need to complete the DS-260 but, to bring the email that they sent stating this to the interview as evidence. Maybe you guys can email them as well if you're unsure? I started to fill it out but, then got to the question of the petitioner and there was no fiance option - I did not want to put spouse for fear of them accusing us of already being married at the interview.

  8. I have had a very hard time getting in touch with the New Delhi embassy also. I have been just contacting DOS directly as they have access to the information that the embassy puts in their system. They cannot really answer any questions for you but, at least they can tell you when your case has been updated. Their number is 202-485-7600, Good luck!!

  9. It can all be so very confusing, I agree :). How do you know that they are asking for packet 4? My fiance never received his interview letter or packet 3 & 4. So, I emailed travel docs to get the interview letter and then he sent his applicant statement, DS-230 part 1, DS-156, and passport photos to the immigrant visa section at the embassy. I have spoken with DOS and they said that he is documentarily ready for his interview on Oct 3rd. The New Delhi website is confusing becuase they do seem to lump together the spousal and fiance visas under one category but, from what I understand, we need the I-134 for the interview. Good luck!

  10. Congrats on your NOA2! We have our interview date scheduled for Oct 3rd and my fiance still has not received his packet 3 or interview letter although the embassy supposedly sent it out about 2 weeks ago. He went ahead and sent the forms needed for packet 3 via Blue Dart last week and the embassy has received it. I would just go ahead and do that as well because it seems that often people do not receive the letter until right before the interview. In addition to the DS-230 form we also sent the applicant statement and 2 passport photos. Good luck!

  11. I just sent a package to my fiance using DHL because they have an office in the area where he lives. I would look online to see which provider services the area where your husband is living as it makes the whole process much easier when he receives it. Also, be sure to let them know that it is only documents that you are sending so, that your husband does not have to pay customs on it.

  12. Hello,

My fiance just received his birth certificate a few months ago as India did not issue them until recent years. From what I've read the late birth certificates are accepted as the embassy understands the situation. We also had his mother sign a notarized affidavit stating his name, date of birth, place of birth, etc. I read somewhere that if the beneficiary cannot obtain their birth certificate in India then the affidavit, school certificate, voters id card, PAN card, all will work as well. Good luck!!

  13. My fiance will be interviewing at New Delhi as well and I understood it the same way as you. According to the embassy website I thought we needed to submit the DS-230 and a signed embassy form. This is what I found on the website regarding K1 visa's packet 3.

  14. Hello,

Congrats on your NOA2!! My fiance also just received his BC a few weeks ago. I believe this may be something that the embassies deal with often in India as they only started issuing BC's in like 1990 or something crazy like that. We have a notarized affidavit from his mother stating that the birthdate, name, place, etc was all true. From what I've read about the Delhi embassy, it seems like the more documents you have, the better. We are bringing his school certificate, voters id, passport, and BC. I think the more evidence that supports the new BC, the better. Good luck and please post a review on the New Delhi embassy!

  15. I was confused about this as well because on the New Delhi embassy website it seems like we're supposed to use the I-864 for K1. But, then I looked into more and I found the packet 3 and 4 links for the K1 visa. On the checklist it asks for I-134 which is the one that we're supposed to use. These are the links for Packet 3 and 4 at New Delhi - I imagine they must be similar to Mumbai. Good luck!!
