  1. Quite honestly, it really looks like you are desperate to return to the US.

I suggest you take some classes in your home country to show them that you are serious about school. Get good grades and an attendance record to show them

Your senior had a totally different case than yours, focus on your case

    good luck

But it's too late now for me to enrol for any classes. That's why I bought those books.

  2. Honestly what you mentioned about going thru the textbooks and doing half of your project etc. would not really work.

You never said what country you are from but that may have impact on you getting a visa or not.

It would be really difficult with your case history, once given a chance to study in US and you blew it, than apply for tourist visa - denied and month later you planning to apply for another student visa, this would give a impression to CO that either you have bf/gf in US and you are trying to get to US.

Then what do you think I should do? I am from Malaysia. One of my seniors was suspended too and had applied for B-2 visa. His B-2 visa was approved and in the end he got another F-1 visa.

What about I apply for another student visa in May? Would it be better?

  3. You will have to show something that has really changed you and I think it would be difficult to prove that, with a denied tourist visa its going to be extremely difficult to get another visa for sometime.

Yes. I am thinking about the ways to prove it to the VO after I successfully change my attitudes...

Have you signed up for classes locally to catch up?

Nope. I bought some textbooks and almost finish most of them.

  4. Before you interview again I would have something more to show than you just thinking about it

    good luck

Now I am working on the subjects which I will take in next semester. I bought some textbooks and have finished 2 of them. All works and answers are written in the books. Besides, I am doing the research project for one of the subjects which I will be taking in the coming semester. 1/2 of the project is done. Do you think I should bring it to the interview? One more thing. I went for tourism visa interview on yesterday and it was denied. Will the VO think that I desperately want to get a visa if I apply for F-1 visa in March?

  5. Don't do it.

You are looking like you are desperate for anyway to get back into the US.

Just wait for your student visa.

Why so desperate to go to the US for a few months, when you will be reinstated soon?

The more denials you collect, the less likely you are to get your student visa.

Just decided not to apply for another B-2 visa. Heard from my friend that being denied for too many times will bring negative impacts. I really don't want to leave my girlfriend alone there. I will apply for F-1 visa right after getting my new offer letter and I-20. Seriously this lesson is like me slapping myself in my face.

  6. As you guys expected, my application was denied this morning. The consul said that not being reinstated by the University shows that I don't have strong ties that will compel me back to my home country. If, I mean IF, I am reinstated by the University in March, and I apply for B-2 Visa again, will my chance be bigger?

  7. Why?

I mean, since I am only a 20-year-old student who doesn't even have a degree. What can I do by staying in the States? Moreover, I am suspended for a semester but not permanently terminated from the University. I will still be reinstated after a few months. Wouldn't the VO think it is reasonable that I will come back to my home country after three months? I have F-1 visa to apply.

  8. Well, here is the updatd version of my case. I am back at Malaysia and will be attending the visa interview on Monday.

Hi guys. I am currently suspended from my University in the US for a semester and my F1 visa is terminated. I came home on Jan 25 and am going to the US on Feb 10 by applying a B2 visa. The documents that I have are:

    a) My passport

    b) My US Bank statement with USD7000

    c) My family members' birth certificate

    d) My family members' national identity card

    e) 2 pictures which I took with my family members

    f) My family members' information (including my cousin who is studying in Purdue University)

    g) My girlfriend's information

    h) The picture that I took with my girlfriend when we were in Chicago

    i) The information of one of my friends who stays in the US

    j) My father's bank statement

    k) My suspension letter

    l) The result of my appeal

    m) My student ID in the US

    n) My family tree (including those who I forgot their name)

My real purpose is to visit my CHINESE girlfriend whose nationality is China and keep her company for 3 months. She is studying in the University in the US. When the consul asks me about my purpose of travelling in the States, should I tell him that I am visiting my girlfriend who comes from China? Or just tell him that I am visiting my girlfriend? I am just a student who does not own any properties. Do you think it would be difficult for my application to be approved? Thank you.

  9. The B-2 visa is a non-immigrant visa meant for purposes of visiting friends/family or tourism. The CO does not care whether you want to use it to go to a Marilyn Manson concert, take pictures of rare birds in the Everglades, visit your retired uncle in Utah or swim in Lake Superior during the dead of winter. All they care about is that the trip is for visiting/tourism. There is no "good" or "bad" reason. The CO's job is not too keep people away from America. The US needs visitors. The US spends millions of dollars annually to promote tourism. Half my city would be unemployed without tourism. The CO's job is to make sure tourists and visitors come in, and those who are not tourists/visitors stay out.

If the CO believes that your intention is to keep your girlfriend company throughout the whole semester, and then leave the country before your I-94 expires, your visa will be granted. I don't know how tough the KL embassy is, maybe someone from Malaysia can chime on on that.

All in all, the basic rules are the same everywhere.

It's not why you're visiting, it's are you just visiting?

Okay, your reply makes me feel much assured now. So I have to try my best to convince the consul that my purpose is to visit my gf and will be back to M'sia before I-94 expires. Thank you for your reply :)

  10. You can*. It is not illegal to be suspended from school, and you're doing the right thing by leaving the country after being suspended.

Years ago, I dropped out from school in the US (suspended for getting very bad grades). I made a 7 week trip to the US a few months later, though on the VWP, not B-2. Didn't have any problems with the CBP.

I later petitioned my school to reinstate me, which they did. At my new F-1 visa interview the suspension never even came up as a question.

That isn't to say that it won't be a question at your B-2 visa interview, just pointing out that being suspended from school is not in itself a ground for denial.

What country are you from? May give us an idea of what you're up against.

*There are no guarantees. But, on paper and in theory, you can. It's up to the consulate to give you a visa, and the CBP to admit you.

I am afraid that the consular might that "keeping girlfriend throughout the whole semester" is not a good reason. Lol. I am from Malaysia.

  11. Let us know how it goes.

    Sure

another red flag is going home on the 25th of this month and planning on coming back on the 10th of feb. that's a turnaround time of only two weeks. pretty unusual for "non-immigrant" intent. but like i said, the only way to find out is to try.

    good luck!

Ya I know the interval is too short. No choice... :(

  12. the only way to find out is to try. one issue is that you had a F1 visa terminated before so be prepared to answer that if asked. i personally would not have bought the the airline tickets first because it's not a determining factor for the VO to give you a visa.

there's no big or small possibility in getting a b2 visa, its all about you providing sufficient ties to your country that you will go back after your visit to the usa. the VO won't care about the documents you bring that belong to your parents.

    good luck.

Okay... Will applying for visitor visa after the termination of my student visa bring negative effect to my application for F1 visa again in the future?

the COs will be wondering what is really going on with somebody who dropped out of school, and thus has no reasons to return home....(it suggests you were not a bona fide, serious student. and the idea of just 'hanging out' won't resonate well...$2000 in a bank account is (a) peanuts for surviving any length of time in the US and (b) can be easily withdrawn...) $6000 in a US account suggests ties to the US, and airline tickets have no magical mystical power over a person to force that individual to go to the airport.....

    Okay. Thank you.

  13. Hi guys. I am currently suspended from my University in the US for a semester and my F1 visa is terminated. I am planning on going back to my home country on Jan 25 and come back to the US on Feb 10 by applying a B2 visa. The documents that I am able to submit is my passport, my suspension letter, all my family member's national identity card, all my family member's birth certificate, my father's bank account, my bank account statement in my home country with balance of USD2000, my bank account statement of US Bank with balance of USD6000, flight ticket from my home country to the US on Feb 10, flight ticket back from the US to my home country on May 22, and transcript from my University.

I am coming back to the US to visit my girlfriends (whose nationality is Chinese) and other friends in Wisconsin.

Do you think the possibility for me to get B2 visa is big? Thank you.
