I called DOS too (thanks ValPrime for the heads up!) - interview scheduled for May 15!!! Quick question - I was flying to the US on May 3 for longer visit. Is it okay to book the medical two weeks in advance? Thanks!!

Yup, false checklist

So weird - when I got home I also received a hardcopy checklist for my DS-261. Obviously a false checklist, but very strange.

I just got a checklist for two passport photographs (I included these in the IV package). This is a false checklist right (just a reminder to bring the originals to the interview)?

I am hoping it says something other than "Processing at NVC", because then I wouldn't have to call, just check there.

Case complete!! NVC operator just told me it was complete yesterday, but an interview has not yet been scheduled. I am beyond happy right now. Thanks to Saylin and all the other VJers who have given support and guidance throughout this process

Just got an email from NVC that my supporting IV documents were received. Thoughts on how long until a case complete?

After reviewing many cases on VJ (and Saylin's data ;-), it looks like 2 weeks is a "normal" processing time, so I'd wait one more week before getting worried!

It will be a week tomorrow for me since I sent my IV package as well - the waiting is killing me! Is NVC closed for the Easter holiday?

well, NYCbound is having a similar issue, so I think it just depends on how you answer the question, when you are filling it out, try putting "yes" for that question and see what happens, you can always change it back to "no" if the next field that opens is unsuitable.

I had tried putting "Yes" as well, but from what I remember (its locked now), it didn't have any instructions asking to provide employment for the last ten years or any other instructions (and I THINK you could not put an end date, but I can't remember). Also, on the tabs/titles for the different sections on the left of the form, under Work it only has "Present" and "Additional" (which is where the military question shows up).

I tried calling NVC again about it but the operator didn't know what I was talking about again... But I hope Saylin is right and I won't likely get a checklist!

My husband recently opened a TD US account and applied for a credit card to start building US credit (he is a dual citizen but has lived in Canada his whole life), and it was nothing but a hassle. They swore up and down they could use his Canadian credit history to get a card and he was denied (he has EXCELLENT credit) and they couldn't care less and said there was nothing they could do except have him apply for a US funds credit card, which does not build credit. The, he tried to put his first paycheck (actual check until direct deposit could be set up) and they refused to take off the 20 day hold because he was a "new" customer, despite having a substantial amount in the TD Canada account... Total headache, rude branch representatives, and many wasted hours.

We set up RBC account this week - totally seamless. He applied and was approved for a US credit card on the spot over the phone for a very high limit (he was denied a $300 credit card from TD btw). I was also approved separately - I only have to call in with my US SSN once I get it so I can start building US credit history myself. I linked the Canadian and US accounts together over the phone. Everything was SO easy and took less than 1.5 hrs for both of us to be set up with canadian and us account and credit cards - RBC hands down over TD.

Looking at the review of mine, it was worded differently ("Were you previously employed?"), so much less confusing.

If I remember correctly, you can always go back into the form and change things if you wish.

Hi Saylin - the form is locked now so I can't change my answers. I tried calling NVC to see what the correct way to fill out the form was (explaining that on the paper form they ask for 10 years, but the online form only says present, etc.)and if I filled it out wrong, but the operator had no idea so she asked a supervisor. The supervisor she spoke with said that even if it was an error, it wasn't a "critical error", and to just bring my employment history to the interview. I asked the operator if that meant it won't affect my getting a case complete, and she said "no it shouldn't because it's not a critical error, BUT if it did, they would send me an email and then unlock the form so I could enter the information."

I'm skeptical to say the least about this answer - I may try calling back a little later to see if I get a more direct answer, but I'm resigned at this point that I'm probably going to get a checklist... *sigh*

On the DS260 when it asks "do you have other occupation/employment?" You'd have to say "yes" and then it asks you to keep adding employment for the past ten years. When you say "no" it means you've only been employed by one employer for the past 10 years, that's what I think. My attorney even looked at my form before submitting and said everything looks good and I did everything right.

Hmmmm.... that makes me nervous now. At the top of the page when I was filling out the form, the title reads "Present Work/Education/Training Information" and it had a note underneath that said "NOTE: Provide the following information concerning your current employment or education."

So, I didn't think I had to put past employment/education.... So I just filled out my present employment and answered "NO" to the question "Do you have other occupations?"

Has anyone else filled out the form recently that did the same as me? Having total anxiety now...

When did you pay your IV bill?

I start getting worried as I paid mine last friday 03/15 and the money has been withdrawn from my account but still shows IN PROCESS on NVC website... (??)

I paid mine on March 20 - so two days ago. I've read that for some people it can take longer though...

IV Bill appeared as "PAID" this morning - so fast! Just submitted my DS-260 online and emailed my supporting documents to NVC. :dance:

Quick note to others doing EP. The DS-260 only asked for PRESENT occupation (exact question after putting in present employer was, "Do you have other occupations?", which I said "NO"). So all that work I did tracking down my 10+ employers during school was a total waste of time. They still asked for every place of residence since you were 16 though.

Are you using IE? When paying bills, log into the payment portal, not the online forms site.

Hi Saylin - yes, I'm using IE. I usually check both portals because I'm obsessive like that... I called NVC and the operator said that it appears in the online form portal first to show that the DS-261 has been reviewed/approved, and that it should appear in the payment portal within 3-5 business days.

Hi All - I logged into the portal where the online forms are located, and this time it finally shows the IV Bill, status "Not Paid" and a link to "Pay" (before it was blank). However, when I hit the link (or try to login to the payment portal separately), there is no fee to pay.

Is this normal? Does this mean that it is being invoiced, or is something wrong?

Called NVC and they told me that the DS-261 was FINALLY reviewed today!! Hopefully my IV bill will be invoiced very soon so that I can get that part done.

Do people think I may still have a shot at a case complete before the end of the month, and interview in May?

Called NVC to confirm that it was a false checklist. Operator said it was a false checklist and jsut confirms that AOS package was fine. She also said my DS-261 has still not been reviewed *sigh*

You're signing in using IE, right? Bills sometimes don't show up at all on other browsers. IE is the ONLY browser you should be using for the payment portal.

And if you are using IE or you checked on IE after reading this, it could still be invoiced today. Just keep an eye out

Thanks Saylin - I am using IE to check (obsessively). This process takes you from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows so quickly...hopefully I will go back to the highest of highs sooooon!
