He interviewed for a visa when he was 17.

The US Embassy issued the visa after he turned 18.

He will immigrate to the US after turning 18.

He thinks CSPA applied to citizenship. It doesn't. CSPA only applies to immigration. Citizenship is not the same as immigration.

He cannot benefit from the CCA because he will not be 18 when he gains his LPR status. He will not gain US citizenship from his parents.

After 5 years as an LPR, he can apply for US citizenship.

Thanks a lot for your replies and that is typically the situation i really don't know about the five years rule will apply to me or not because i have read a post before about someone near my situation and they received citizenship after a year but i really don't know if that can happen to me the embassy made everything confusing without giving any reply to what i can do i will try to contact them again before i travel with hope of anything new.

I wanted to know if anyone can help with a suggestion. first of all i started processing my green card in December 2012 and i knew that if i am able to enter the USA before my 18th birthday which was 7 months away i will be able to become a U.S citizen automatically. Things went great and i got a fast approval in early feb 2013 and my papers where transferred to the NVC although it took a month till i received my Case number but my case was auto expedited by the nvc and they told me that i will have to take the I-864w form with me at the interview because they have skipped it. the case was transferred to Cairo embassy and another month of wait until i was able to get an appointment on may 29th which is 1 month away from my birthday july 1st the before the interview i met a lady who checked my papers and took the i-864w form and told me that my visa will be ending in november and when will i be travelling and that i will be able to receive automatic citizenship if i enter before my birthday. was great and the officer stated at the end that my case looks great and he doesn't see any problems but it needs additional processing that will take 2 weeks only and i will be able to travel before my birthday. 2 weeks have past with nothing except me getting crazy with only 2 weeks left for my birthday the embassy didn't respond with any new information except that my case in under admin process and the time for that is unknown due to the situations in Egypt at that time the stopped receiving calls and they had an auto reply to emails. i turned 18 without getting a visa and i continued to write for months with the same answer until i received my visa finally in november after renewing my medical but the embassy stated nothing about my eligibility to citizenship. I will be travelling next month finally to USA but i don't know if i will still be able to apply for citizenship and if not can i be able to use the CSPA child status protection act as i had my interview when i was 17 years old and according to the CCA child citizenship act of 2000 a child will receive automatic citizenship if he arrives usa before his 18th birthday which in my case wasn't an option due the delay in visa processing from the embassy i am really confused if i still have the right to apply for citizenship or i will become a normal LPR and should pass what happened normally i want to know what do you think. Finally i have to mention that i found a strange thing on the immigration letter cover sheet that has basic info about me i found that beside occupation is written Stundent/Children under 16 i really don't know if this will differ. sorry for all the words but i wanted to be precise i hope anyone can help because unfortunately i found no one that had an experience like me thanks in advance awaiting your kind replies.

i am in the same boat since 29/05/2013 but my case is worse as i lost my eligibility to receive citizenship beside missing my pre college courses i also want to know if anybody has updates on his case frequently and how they inquire about their cases. i think we should all make calls to the department of state to complain about this. the strange thing is that most k-1 visa petitions i see here in egypt receive there visas without going through AP. I really hope that this nightmare ends to all of us best of luck everyone .

I am sorry but how did u call them because i know that there line has been shut i am also sorry to tell you that my interview was on may 30th and i am In AP since that time and the embassy has my passport since then and i lost my pre college courses i have to tell you that if it is still in your hands to transfer your case to another embassy don't hesitate to do it. best of luck

I used Fedex for 420 EGP and the shipment arrives in 2 days only 1 day for shipping and the other for delivery.I hope that helps. Wish me luck as i am in AP now

I have a question please how long did it take for you to get an assigned interview from the Embassy in Cairo awaiting your kind reply.

Just closed with NVC still no Case complete but i realized something new the woman on the line told me my phone number which i wrote in the Aos and IV application does this mean that my applications are in the system right now waiting for review or what ? thanks in advance awaiting your kind replies.

Omar thanks alot .. bas one last question , which address did u write on the big envelope ?? esp that each package should be sent to different att department

as you know that the difference in the address is only in the att department part so on the big envelope you write the Main address which is National visa center 131....... once they open the package at the NVC they will find the two packages the cover sheet will probably route each package to the correct att department. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. gd luck with it

yes for the two packages they will give you a big envelope where you can put two separate envelopes inside but be sure that the Cover sheet is the first paper in every package simple as that

actually i didn't use DHL before but i can tell that Fedex are great i sent also my i-130 with fedex and also took only 2 days i think that it is also cheaper Than DHL but it all returns to you. i am just sharing my experience

hey everyone it has been a week since the NVC received my AOS and IV packages i keep calling everyday but they say give us 20 days and that they are not in the system and they can not see them until they are reviewed. My question is how long could it take to get a case complete beside that do i need to call a supervisor or a week with my packages in the mail room is something normal.thanks in advance.Awaiting kind replies.

I think it's pretty cool that I got my case number on Feb 22 and case complete on Mar 22!

There's no way for the operator to know it's been received until the review has begun. The only way you can ensure it's arrived is by the tracking through your mail courier. And, obviously, once the package has been accepted or not.

ALL the time frames they give are just to cover their behinds in case it does take that long. But, for review of pages, it's typically 1-2 weeks. So, in your case, it's possible to have a case complete (if both packages are approved) by the end of next week

Thank god my AOS and IV packages have arrived today morning at the NVC and signed by L.Knapp i have just called the NVC to ensure that my packages have arrived but the operator told me that they might be in the building but still not in the system give us 20 business days o input and review them my question is there anyway to ensure that my packages have arrived and about the 20 days he said about is it real or just like the case number process ? thanks in advance. You can send the packages either together or separately, it doesn't matter. It's up to you.

The IV is invoiced a few days after the DS-3032 is accepted and added to your case file. When did you send the DS-3032?

The operators will only have a new status update once the review has started. Until then, they won't see either package in their system as being received. Just keep calling once a day, you'll hear something soon

hey everyone i have received the AOS bill a week from now and paid it and showed as paid but i still didn't send it beacuse i want to send the IV and AOS package with each other my question is how long does it take to get the IV bill invoiced ? or should i Send the AOS package and not wait keep in mind that i will be sending I-864W so i don't think it will take much processing. thanks in advance awaiting your replies.

I know that this question was probably answered before but to be more sure can i wait till the IV bill is invoiced to send the IV and AOS documents into one package ? awaiting kind replies.

I am not where it was actually approved but I know it was being processed at the NBC I think you should call the uscis to ask where your case is mine was approved on the same day and was received at the NBC on feb11 or 14 not sure I hope you get your case number ASAP wish me luck on the rest of my journey

i am starting to get confused every time i call the NVC they told me that my case was received by feb the 11th when i finally found that some people who also have there case received also on the 11th are receiving case numbers i caled the NVC to see but they told me that my case was actually received on the 14th i called again three times since then with the same answer i don't know what's wrong but i hope i get my case number soon i also want to know if there is anybody who has his case received on feb 14th. thanks awaiting kind replies.

Yes, if it's in the building, then they received it from USCIS (or a local office). Keep calling every day (don't wait a week like they said) as the case number can be assigned any day now!
