I had just recently received my son's greencard. Both of us are in the same conditional status. My husband wants my son to carry his surname. We don't how are we going to change his surname (my maiden name) to my husband's surname. Are we just going to apply for changing of his name or should my husband needs to adopt my son legally? I did not put my son's biological father's name on his birth certificate so would that be easier in the process of adoption?

lastly, in applying of adoption how much does it usually cost for the whole processing? I hope you could give us some info specially to those who had done this before.Thank you so much.

my son has his biometrics appoinment today at 8 AM but we were not able to appear because snow storm in Portland so most of the roads there are closed..I tried to call the 1-800 phone to talk to customer service but I can't get through and wasn't able to talk with somebody..we're woorying that they might considered it as abandoned case..

pls, help us what are things that we should do? it's past 8 is it considered to be an abandoned case?

I haven't applied yet a SSN for my son because the SSA requires us to apply for EAD. My son is only a child so why should I apply for a work permit. What if we just show his Permanent Resident card once it arrived? Do you think it would be sufficient?

so it means that we just did not pay for biometrics fee but basically they will undergo to the same procedure that is taking the photo and fingerprints?

i received a biometrics appoinment for my son who is only 4 years. My AOS application was just approved last week and the USCIS is about to send the welcome notice as well as the green card.

for what i learned, applicants who are 14 years below aee not required to have biometrics.. i also would like to hear an appoinment from you if we will still undergo another interview where in fact the supporting documents that we submitted is the same.

i hope to hear your comments..

i am gonna have my interview on the 3rd of January..is it okay or allowed to bring my 4 year old son in there?

I mailed my son's AOS application last Nov. 14 then yesterday I received the whole package we've sent from Chicago including a Rejection Notice (I-797C-NOA) stating they had rejected the application due to improper placing of my signature.

I corrected the said error and now I am preparing the package to send it back to Chicago. But my question is:

would it be helpful to enclose a photocopy of my NOA for AOS and Appoinment Letter for Initial interview? Though my interview will be on January 3, 2007.

What i only have now is me and my son's medical insurance and I have my own bank account.

I had been checking my account in USCIS website for the couple of weeks..no touch, no email. But then when I check our mailbox yesterday, I got surprised. After a month and a week of waiting since we filed my AOS,I finally received my appoinment letter for Initial interview. Now I realize that not everything is being updated or posted in CIS website.

Then today we will send my son's (K2) AOS application.

K1 can apply for SSN without the EAD ..i am K1 and I got mine

just present your passport and visa, I-94, birth and marriage certificate..to establish your identity

and reiterate to them that K1 doesn't need to have the EAD for SSN card application according to USCIS and SSA policies..

you know some of their staff/personnel might not informed/oriented well regarding these policies

her travel will be on the 7th of Nov..i don't think she can't wait for her greencard..besides we really don't when will be her green card arrive

my friend had just her interview few days ago, she doesn't know whether she's approved or not because the interview the interview did not say anything nor put a stamp in her passport but her I-94 was taken. the question is, is it possible for her to travel without the stamp in her passport? and what is the relevance of welcome letter that was sent to her the day of her interview? she is worrying that she might not gonna travel next next week because her I-94 was taken and her passport was not stamped..

pls inform us the best thing that she could do.

isn't it that A k1 visa is not allowed to work unless if she got an EAD..

is there a real exemption to that? because for what I believe EAD is a must and working without EAd could possibly result to deportation or AOS denial.
