  1. I had all my vaccinations done at my regular doctors, and then went to see Dr F. Douglas Day, who charged $50 to check all the forms, transcribe my UK vaccination record, and the ones i had when i arrived in the US, to the I-693 form, then sign it all off for $50. I took all forms in, was asked to come back in 30 mins, and it was ready and waiting for me to collect. Very efficient, i think it was worth spending the money for piece of mind. The receptionist is very helpful!

They also offer a full range of vaccinations, but mostly i found it was cheaper to go to a pharmacy or a family doctors clinic for those.

  2. The DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application form, is for temporary travel to the United States, and for K (fiancé(e)) visas.

The travel.state.gov site now is clear that DS-160 is for K-visas.

    But then it says:

NOTE: For K visa cases in process at a U.S. embassy or consulate, the DS-160 is not required when, prior to October 7th, 2013, one of the following situations exist:

    • The K visa applicant is already scheduled for an interview.
    • The K visa applicant has already been interviewed and has been requested to submit additional documentation or is pending administrative processing.
    • Petitioners have already submitted a valid, signed, unexpired DS-156, DS-156K and/or DS-230 or received instructions to do so.

My advice would be to do exactly what they request - i.e. complete DS-160 & DS-2001, but also send in the completed old forms (DS-230 pts i&ii, DS-156 DS-156k, and DS-157).

I had them all ready to send this afternoon and then double checked the site and noticed the update, so I think I may as well send the completed forms anyways! Worst case scenario they shred the old forms, anything other than that, you have covered all your bases.

So this is now at the top of the DoS Travel page for DS-160. Goodbye multiple paper forms, hello the digital age - just wish they had notified and clarified this beforehand!

Yet again contradictory, as in our instruction letter received 27th August, it specifically mentions DS-230, ds-156, etc.

I'm going to send them all, plus DS-160 just to make sure. Just had a bit of fun trying to create a digital image that's acceptable for submission - a useful tool: http://travel.state.gov/passport/pptphotoreq/pptphotoreq_5333.html

Will let you know the results...

    Good luck y'all!

  5. Hi all,

I spent this morning finalising entering all the information in forms ds-230, ds-156, 156k and 157, then went to the nearest library to print them out. Just checked http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html one final time to check the address of the immigrant visa unit, and noticed the forms section had totally changed!

And yes, as soon as you click through to the DoS site, it tells you that "Visa applicants must submit a completed DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application for all nonimmigrant visa categories, except for applicants applying for K visas. K visa applicants must use Form DS-156, Nonimmigrant Visa Application."

I would have cursed loudly and angrily, had i not been in a public library! part of me wanted to just pretend that i had never seen those instructions, but then if my appointment got delayed because i didn't follow London's instructions, I'd be even more raging.

Hadn't they literally just a few weeks ago changed the process and for instructions received September 1st onwards (mine arrived on August 30th), asking you to complete ds-260 which replaced ds-230 parts i&ii?

So, what dya think we should do?

My take on it is that London must have made that decision, therefore give them what they are asking for and complete DS-160. But i might just submit all of the previous forms that I have completed anyway, just to cover my bases, and explain in the covering letter the confusion because of the instructions changing part way through the process. I suppose the worst they can do is throw them away!

What I'm not clear about is whether or not I would have to schedule the interview appointment afterwards. But having said that, they still want DS-2001 submitted along with the confirmation page, and in that they require a snail-mail address to send notification of appointment!

I guess that digital forms make way more sense than all the paper copies that the previous instructions requested, I hope that this will expedite the process of them allocating interviews.

Hmm, good to vent my spleen a little, anyone else feeling aggravated by this incomprehensible switch without warning?
