  1. Hi blooms, sorry for the late reply. I had been very busy with our applications so I didn't check back this thread. I was suggested by another fellow VJer to use the first letter that NVC sent to you to request the PCC and we successfully asked the Singapore Police to do it without any problem.

When we got the checklist, we only waited like 1 week before finally being able to send ours off. It took us 2 weeks to get a case complete after that.

Anyway, if you ran into the same issues as us, you can use the first letter that NVC sends to you (the one saying that NVC has received your case and your case is eligible for further processing, etc...) to request for the PCC to save you additional processing time.

  2. To be brutally honest, I am so jealous of you guys being able to return home to early. I still have to wait until at least end of September before my wife and I can head home (even though our interview is scheduled to be in July). We would like to wait until our marriage at least 2 years at the time my wife sets foot in the US to secure that permanent green card. We don't want to deal with these hassles ever again.

You must be very happy right now biggrin.png. Any celebration ?

  3. ya, I'm a foodie also, first tyled in Singapura then re-stooled in Liverpool.

Hint - we're moving into one of our rental houses in Houston, kicking out the renter right after she has the visa packet in hand.

When do you plan to move back to US Darnell ?

THIS IS THE POST I'VE BEEN WAITING TO MAKE!!

My husband just got his visa approval today!! It feels like a second wedding day because they are finally letting my man come HOME. crying.gif yes we cried!

Thank you everyone who put up with my fretting and thank you everyone who read and commented and thank you ESPECIALLY to the mainstays on this forum who always have a word of sense and advice. I won't name you because I don't want to accidentally leave anyone out, but you know who you are smile.png

Let's all be good to each other, folks. I want everyone to have this feeling of joy and relief. dancin5hr.gif

Congrats so when do you guys plan to meet at POE ?

  4. Hi guys :), thanks dwheels for adding my case to the list. My interview and my medical exam are approaching. Could you please kindly advise if the list of things to bring to the medical exam and the interview that I compiled below is sufficient or not ? Thank you so much.

    I. Medical Exam

    · Passport Photo (4.5mm x 3.5mm)

    · NVC Appointment Letter

    · Passport

    II. Interview

    · Copy of I-130 Package

    · Copy of I-864 Package

    · Copy of DS-230 Package

    Instruction

    1. Original marriage documents, translations and certifications.

    2. Formal, long form birth certificate.

    3. Copies of any divorce records or death decrees of former SO(s). (N/A)

    4. Passport, with an expiration date of no earlier than 6 months. Try to have more than 6 months before expiration.

    5. Police certificate with "Nothing" written on it, indicating no criminal record (Already submitted to the NVC)

    6. Fingerprints (consulate will instruct you regarding how, when and where these will be taken). There is a fee for this. (Not sure about this, please advise !!!)

    8. Passport type photos of each of you.

    9. Proof of relationship (we plan on bringing more photo, call logs, chat logs (last 6 months), and original lease contract with both of our names on it).

I got the list off Visajourney. Please kindly advise if the list is sufficient or not:). Thank you so much.

  5. I called today the NVC and the lady told me they going to send me a check list. Any idea how long it takes from them to send it? I was hoping for case completion ughhhh

Around 1 week and you will get it by emails... If you want to save time, ask them now what the checklist is about and start preparing the documents ASAP. If you can mail within the same day you receive the checklist, you can save quite a bit of time on your end.

  6. why are you trying to track the casefile into Singapura ?

DoS Hotline knows all, at this point, and from this point forward, and you already have an interview scheduled.

Are you chasing after an earlier interview ?

I just want to be sure that the US Embassy in Singapore receives my case file. I thought the tracking stuff is universal and everybody on this forum does it, isn't it ? sleep.png

Or is it supposed to be for people who wait for the interview to be assigned by the US Embassy in the foreign countries instead ? sleep.png

I am a bit paranoid, as you all can see sad.pngblush.png

EDIT: Thanks for the advice about DOS, I guess I will try calling them this Friday then :). Just want to be sure I guess :).

  7. Congrats!

You need to call NVC to find out when (or if) your case is sent out. Please re-read what you quoted. I said it's TYPICALLY sent out the next day. You still need to confirm with NVC if you're going to use the tracking.

Sorry just realized just now that I need to try the EXP 04 JUN 2013A instead blush.png . I guess I will try again tomorrow. If that doesn't work, I will wait a few more days before calling them.

Thank you for your advice (sorry for acting like an impatient idiot blush.png ).

  8. How long does it take for NVC to mail my case out after getting an interview date scheduled?

Usually it's the next day, but it can take up to a week or more in rare cases.

    Hi Saylin,

I have some questions about this. I got my interview schedule sent to me by email on June 3rd. I tried your tracking method with EXP 03 JUN 2013A but nothing showed up inbound for Singapore. Should I be worried ?

Normally, how do you know when and whether your case is forwarded to the US Embassy or not ? How long did it take for you guys ?

  9. I got this checklist letter from NVC yesterday:

    ______CORRESPONDENCE INSTRUCTIONS:_________________________________
When responding to the National Visa Center, please include the bar code sheet that came with this
letter. Failure to include the bar code sheet may cause a delay in the processing of your case. The bar
code sheet should be placed on top of all documents being submitted for this case and mailed to the
    address provided.
    ______1 - IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION PART 1:_______________________
The NVC has received the requested Affidavit of Support (Form I-864) or supporting documents.
However, we are still waiting for the response to the checklist letter for the Immigrant Visa Application
or civil documentation. Please return the requested information so that we may complete the processing
    of your case.
    [ATP 05/06/2013]

I called NVC to find out what's up and they said that I only need to send in the Singapore Police Certificate to get my case completed. Looks like they have finally accepted my explanation for the fact that I did not have W-2 Form for 2012.

Hopefully everything will proceed smoothly from now on :).

  10. We received Dave's ITIN yesterday. I would highly recommend visiting your local IRS office. It will be far more effective than speaking to someone on the phone.

Too bad that there's no local IRS office in Nepal. The US IRS office is only present in selected country like UK. It doesn't apply to his/her case here.

What formywife has done is correct, she only needs to complete that last step to get her/her husband's tax ID and she will be all set.

  11. Hi Apalis,

In my back home Nepal, when they certify Passport photocopy, they generally make copy of photo page of passport and certify it.

This is what exactly I did. Did you make copy of ALL pages of passport and certify it or just made copy of photo page of passport and certify it in US Embassy?

    Thanks

    Hi Speedwell,

Does this means that if ITIN application gets rejected then whatever money I am supposed to get as a refund, I will owe them?

Thanks for your response appreciate it

Thanks for your response, really appreciate it. I am going to contact US Embassy soon.

You only need to bring your own photocopy of the biographic page in your passport (color or black photocopy are both ok) to the US Embassy and they will take it from there.

No need to notarize other pages in your passport since they charge 50 USD / page.

  12. Hi Apalis,

Thank you very much for your help. I am just curious, how did you contact US Embassy( write email, phone call , etc) and what document did you present US Embassy to get passport copy notarized?

    Thank You

I went to the US Embassy website in Singapore to schedule an appointment for notarial service. Then I showed up on that day with my wife, they asked me I need the notarial service for what purpose. I told them that the IRS requested and they automatically knew what to do.

It was pretty simple really. If you want to be careful, you can also bring along the letter from IRS requesting the certified copy of the passport.

It will cost you 50 USD though, pretty steep :(.

  13. It's very possible to get an earlier date. There's about 29 folk who took my advice, these last 14 months, and got earlier dates using the exact method that I've described. It works ! It's not gauranteed, but if the IV unit can accomodate, they do accomodate.

Good to know , thanks Darnell, I have always thought that since the case is already completed at NVC, NVC doesn't have any power over it so I suggested to contact the US Embassy. Sorry if I misled anyone.

Once again, sorry for my misinformed suggestion.

  14. guys, I need to request an earlier interview date than the one I got on on April 29th. My interview date is June 17th. Everywhere it says wait for your case to get to the embassy and then request it, however, it looks like it will be awhile till NVC sends it out. When I call they say your interview is way far it won't be sent out now!! Well, that is the point of requesting a sooner one, HELLO! I don't know what to do exactly!! Should I ask for an expedite at NVC? Should I email the embassy and ask for an earlier interview without waiting for case t get there? Should I tell my congressman to contact DOS? Please guys, any help is appreciated! I have serious things going on and the interview date MUST move back ASAP! My medical is done and it's all ready!

I don't think it's possible since the NVC waits for the Embassy to assign the interview date and normally the interview schedule is quite tight for the Embassy. I am sure it's possible to postpone the interview but it's not possible to move it to an earlier date.

But if you think your circumstance is exceptional enough or an emergency (for instance your life is being threatened or medical condition worsened (just to give some examples)), call the Embassy and let them help you out. Only them can contact the NVC at this point and request to have your package shipped earlier and move up your interview date.

  15. Ohh, I got you!

I believe once again it's the same as the packages: an operator won't know it's received until the review has started.

They need to fix their system very badly headbonk.gif

I see thanks for the reply. I guess I will try calling them again next week to see if there is any update. On the good side, my wife's DS-230 has been reviewed and we only need the Singapore PC to complete the DS-230. Thanks to Ariyan's tip, I got it done 2 weeks ago. I will pick up my wife's PCC next week and alas, it will be forwarded straight to the NVC.

    Hope everything will go well....
