  1. I'm an Indonesian passport holder & a green card holder. I use my husband's last name in my green card, driver license, & ssn.

Is it a good idea to change my last name into my husband's when renewing my passport or it it too much of a hassle to deal with Indonesian Embassy? If it's a good idea, how do I go about it? I tried to call Indonesian Embassy in San Francisco but nobody ever answer. In the website, it says to submit a copy of name change letter. What is this exactly? Is it a letter from the court?

    Thanks!

  2. My fiance & I have been trying to get the DS-156 barcode for the past three days. We're able to fill out the form but every time we click the "Continue" button, we got an error message. We can't go to the next page to get the barcode & save it. My fiance is in the U.S & I'm in Indonesia. We use five different computer. We've tried to access it on Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera, Safari, and Netscape. But none of them work. Does anyone knows the solution to this problem?

I was wondering if U.S Embassy in Jakarta accept the Ds 156 without barcode, just in case we still can't get the barcode.

  3. My fiancée submitted the I - 129F petition on January. We received NOA 1 on January 25. I read that the process would take about 5 months. I was a J1 visa holder & my home residency requirement will end on June, so it should be coincide with the visa processing time. However I'm worried because we're applying before I finish the home residency & I don't have waiver. Would that affect my chance in getting K1 visa? Do you think i could get the K1 Visa because the time of finishing HRR would be coincide with the visa processing time? I'm trying to go back to the U.S this July & got married there.

  4. When filing for a fiance visa (K1 visa), is more evidence always better? Or is it possible that having too much evidence will slow down the process?

Here is what we have so far:

    1. Visa stamps when traveling together

    2. My J1 visa for when I was over there in the U.S for school

    3. Many pages of Skype call history

    4. Many pages of email history

    5. Bank statements to show that he spent money in the countries that we took our trip when the visa stamps were stamped

    6. Many flight and hotel booking records for the trips we have taken together

    7. About 30 photos of us together in many different locations

    8. My flight itinerary when I flew to the US for school

    9. My certificate from the school

    10. My tax document from the scholarship consortium

Does that seem about the right amount? What other evidence do we need to include?
