Hi guys,
Like the above posters said, the USCIS office was open today. My wife was able to go to her biometrics appointment without any problems. It looks like for this government shutdown more services are being provided than during the 1995/96 shutdown, when passport processing and some other services from State were closed.

Thanks for all the responses! I'm hoping that USCIS is open tomorrow, regardless of the gov. shutdown.

Hi all,
My wife has her biometrics appointment scheduled at USCIS on October 1, when the government is likely to shut down. I called the number on the I-797C to see if I could get confirmation about their being closed during a shutdown and some guidance on what to do next, but the person I spoke to didn't seem to understand anything about the shutdown. Has anyone else called and gotten a better answer?
Thanks!

Thank you! Yay! Japanese are getting miracles huh! Ahhh can't wait to see the loved one again. Hey, from your NOA2 you mean like the letter or the email or case status?? Are we supposed to hear something from NVC? or just wait till the embassy will send me a packet?
Thank you! and of course I don't mind at all. We sent the packet on Oct 6 and our NOA1 was October 17th.
Yeah, I'm glad that they're moving so fast! I mean the actual packet of forms that are sent to the beneficiary in Japan; that took about 4 weeks from the day I got an email saying my petition was approved. I think I got the hard copy NOA2 a week after that email, and I called NVC after 2 weeks to get the case number.

Congrats! It was about 4 weeks from my NOA2 until my fiancee in Japan got the packet from the Tokyo embassy, so I'm guessing that'll be your timeline too!

I'm an October 25th filer myself, but somehow got lucky and was approved last month. I got my hard copy NOA2 a few days ago, so I can actually start believing it wasn't a glitch in the notification system!

Most agencies have agreements in place where they require 30 days (or more) notice before employees can be furloughed, so at the very least you won't see any change in staffing at USCIS until April.

I went through VSC, so I was really planning for it to take another few months at least.

Thanks! Hopefully the super fast processing bodes well for everyone else's waiting times.

I'm an October filer and I just got approved! 124 days since I submitted - wasn't that amazingly fast? I don't know how mine was done so quickly, but I'm certainly not complaining. I hope everyone else is approved soon!

Hi all,
I'm also an October 2012 filer. Sent on 10/22 and got the NOA on 10/29. The online status, like others have talked about, mentions an alien registration number and initial processing. My fiancee's from Japan and I got to see her over there during the holidays, but definitely hoping for a smooth and somewhat painless process so I can see her again soon!
August 2013 AOS Filers
in Adjustment of Status Case Filing and Progress Reports

Hey all,
I filed in late August and we finally received the green card yesterday.
We had so many problems with the EAD, as they mailed it to the wrong address by mistyping the zip code. 4 months of calling USCIS and filing cases and nothing happened. We didn't have an interview for the GC and thankfully it arrived safely! I definitely didn't think I'd get the GC before EAD, but I'm just glad it's done!
