  1. My mom's case has been approved by USCIS and transferred to NVC.goofy.gif

I have everything ready for NVC-all originals, copies, translations, etc. I want to expedite this process so I can finally reunite with my monther. Anyway, I was wondering if James Shortcuts still valid? Is there an updated version? James Shortcuts were last updated in 2006, a lot have changed since then.ClockWatch2.gif

    Thanks everybody.

  2. My case is at NBC, but when I want to look up processing time for I-130, it does not list I-130 on NBC page at all.

Unfortunatelly, NBC doesnt list processing times for I130 on USCIS website. Not sure why  I started this topic trying to figure this out http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/411028-nbc-processing-times/page__p__5947831__fromsearch__1#entry5947831

And when I go check my case status on the USCIS page they tell me my case cannot be found. When I try to add it to my portfolio, they say it does not exist. Weird. Maybe it's too early to check, but they said themselves to check after I get I-797 in the mail...

Dont worry. This is normal. Just keep checking your status online, your case will eventually be added to the system.

According to USCIS website: "Expect a 30-45-day delay between when your application or petition is filed and when your information is available in Case Status Online, depending on the volume of applications USCIS receives" Good luck!

  3. a friend of mine just got approved yesterday.

we have the same NOA1 date and her MSC number is 2 digits ahead of me...

so I assume they started working on December applications.

it is interesting, because i was checking random MSC numbers(just changing last digits of my case number), and noticed that there are quite a few approvals. Approved Feb 4,Feb 9, Feb 11 and Feb 16. Approvals are NOT in order. (lets say MSCXXXXXXX01 is approved and MSCXXXXXXX04 is approved, but MSCXXXXXX02 and 03 are not approved  )

  4. does anyone knows where to track processing time for I 130 form filers routed to national benefits center? it's really hard to tell when uscis will give decision since there's no indication for process time in NBC for this type of application.

unfortunately, there is no way to predict NBC approvals...

i even started a topic about this..

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/411028-nbc-processing-times/page__p__5947831__fromsearch__1#entry5947831

it could be 2months or 5months before you get approved. or longer  its very confusing

  5. I worked at immigration 20+ yrs ago, here is the system they use. The mail arrives via post and goes into the mail room, mail clerks open the mail and look for the file, photos , and fees depending on the application. The paperwork goes into a cue for the data entry clerk to then input information into the computer and add the fee. Your file then goes into another building which is just for people who file, they file all day. When your turn comes up, the officer calls for file numbers and the file is removed from the shelf along with however many others and is worked on. That is how its done. In the last few months at least for the VSC, they are back logged and sending out I-130s to local offices, if that persons local office doesn't have a lot to do you will be processed very fast....less than 30 days because you just jumped first in line when they moved you to another location, (at least in the beginning of moving these files).

That would explain in some cases why they had a fast turnaround. Another reason could be the file clerks aren't so good at pulling the correct file when gathering, and they process what was brought to them. I for one know the file clerk job is the most boring job that I ever had to do in my life , I was a mail clerk at the time (was moved to help for two weeks to file because they were backlogged).

Looking at rows and rows of A#s , its very easy after a long day to get your numbers out of order when reading...human error :)

thanks for this post!very informative

  6. I corrected my signature it was 2 mo. And Yup almost ready. I have been pushing my husband to get everything done since the start. By the time I need to send everything in I will be ready.

    thats so cool

looks like there are a lot of cases that get approved in 2-3months

however, there are some that were filled in october or november and are still pending  go figure

  7. I am taking my oath on Feb 13th. I want to submit my mom's petition on the same day if possible.

    Questions:

    - Will I get my certificate on the day of my oath taking?

    - Can I apply for US passport on that same day as well?

Can anybody here help me with a step by step process on what do I need to send on my first packet?

I cant find any list on VJ.

    Thank you.

yes you will get your certificate at oath ceremony.

i applied for us passport the next day after my ceremony...had to go to post office to do so.

applied for my mom's visa(ir-5) the next day as well...

  8. It means that it takes that long for the case to show up after being accepted. Mine took about 3 weeks. All other updates will be the correct day.

    you are right

    just don't panic!

Expect a 30-45-day delay between when your application or petition is filed and when your information is available in Case Status Online, depending on the volume of applications USCIS receives.

  9. Hi Roze! On the RFE letter it said "secondary evidence of birth - baptismal certificate, church or school record", so I sent them a copy of my baptism certificate. Luckily my mom gave me my original school progress reports from when I was little while I was visiting her back home in December, 2011, so I included one of those too. Both items have my date of birth listed. My parents' names are on the baptism certificate. The RFE letter didn't say whether the evidence should be an original or not so I figure by sending a copy of one and an original of the other, I've covered both bases. I don't have the original baptism certificate so I hope that won't be an issue. Best wishes to you too!

    thanks for your response!

did you send copy of your birth certificate with i-130?

just trying to understand the reason for RFE.i thought copy of birth certificate should be enough

  10. Hi all, I'm new here. I sent out an I-130 for my mom in October and have a priority date of 10/24 from NBC. I received an RFE on 1/25 that came from my local office (Baltimore). I just express mailed the response today, so hopefully I'll be getting my NOA2 soon and adding to the timeline!

just asking...what did you send as a secondary evidence of birth?

hope you get your NOA2 soon!

  11. Since August I-130s for CR/IR visas have been getting sent to local offices for processing, they are not being handled by the NBC. If you sent your petition after August 1, 2012 it was forwarded to your local office to be adjudicated.

did a little research about it..and yes, you are right

Stand-Alone Immediate Relative I-130s will be transferred from the Service Center to the National Benefits Center (NBC), and then routed to the appropriate Field Office

i wonder if they gonna notify me when they transfer my case to local office...
