Not sure if many are still tracking this post, but how long did it take to receive passport from application date? 4 weeks as expected for regular service?

I might be traveling in 2 weeks for work, and I applied 2 weeks ago on regular speed (didn't know about upcoming travel), hope I get it on time otherwise I cannot return to USA if I go :|

I am now a United States Citizen!

Great ceremony is Los Angeles this morning along with 4180 other new citizens!

It was very emotional and glad to be part of the family now!

Can't wait to see my shiny new passport

To be on the safe side I listed 5 years of work and address history, but only limited to 3 years of Time Outside the US since that's irrelevant before that and there's a good chance you might have not been in the US in the first place

The passport photo has to be taken in the 6 months prior to applying... as long as that's the case; then there's no problem.

It'll be exactly 6 months but I wanted to make sure it didn't look odd it was the same pic as the one on the naturalization certificate.

Hi there, silly question
I will be doing my oath ceremony in 3 weeks and preparing for applying for passport after the ceremony.

It needs another picture that is recent. I already made one when I applied for N400 and it will be on my naturalization certificate.

Is it OK to use it again for the passport, or it would be odd?

Got my oath ceremony letter for LA on Sept 22nd as planned, but 7:40am reporting that's quite early with the 1h drive Oh well i'll be American sooner!

Some questions have one answer but will show different variations/ways to answer (ie. statue of liberty: new york / liberty island) where one is enough.

But my doubt is around questions where multiple answers are given, are we expected to say all of them or one will do?

examples:

2. What does the Constitution do?

• sets up the government
• defines the government
• protects basic rights of Americans

12. What is the “rule of law”?

• Everyone must follow the law.
• Leaders must obey the law.
• Government must obey the law.
• No one is above the law.

37. What does the judicial branch do?

• reviews laws
• explains laws
• resolves disputes (disagreements)
• decides if a law goes against the Constitution

Lastly, i'm naturalizing because of my USC spouse. I thought she doesn't have to come but searching the forums I've seen cases where spouses attended the interview. What's the exact deal with that?

Update, got my new interview date and notice by mail yesterday

Feeling lucky that it got rescheduled right away after I went in person, and overall only postponed my interview by 3 weeks (took a week to get letter, was out one week, then infopass, so all in all 3 weeks from my side). It's a good contrast to all the horror stories about multi-months delays or simply cancelling the process!

For the table I'm updating the int ltr and interview dates with the rescheduling.

Only received the cancellation letter of my first interview, waiting eagerly for the new date

Just a quick update about the rescheduling of my interview.

Well good news, it worked and I'm now rescheduled as of yesterday!

I went on Wed early morning for an infopass appointment and came armed with a letter of why I needed to reschedule.

The agent said I could reschedule online (which I checked again afterward and nowhere to be found on my USCIS account).

After saying that Tier 2 support said it can only be done in person, she took my personal letter and my interview letter, made a copy of it for me and it said "accepted in mailroom on July 3rd" (which is an older date).

I also previously sent the same to that USCIS field office via snail mail on Friday, but wanted to be extra safe based on the horror stories I read online.

When I came back home shortly after it fell back into InLine for Interview, and yesterday night it was Scheduled for Interview.

If I add 5 weeks I'm looking for a date around Aug 12th which is perfect for me

To reschedule your interview you need to return the letter when you receive it and attach an explanation.

If they don't get it in time they'll think you missed your interview, but that can be fixed with an Infopass.

If you can change your travel plans easily, do that. If not, then reschedule; most people who reschedule get an new appointment within 1-3 months with no problems. There are, of course mix-ups that happen. It depends on how difficult it is to cancel or postpone your travel plans.

Please update. Got the text/email today that my interview has been scheduled. Yay! Now we wait for that letter...

I'm actually traveling next week for a few weeks and am really hoping that my interview is scheduled for after I get back.

In early May, I tried to have my case expedited because I knew I would be traveling. Nothing happened! They didn't even look into my case. I called several times, spoke to Tier 2 agents. After 3 weeks, they closed my inquiry without even doing anything. Finally, I went into the NYC office to ask if I could reschedule my interview and they said that once you have the letter with the interview date, you can go to your field office and request a reschedule. If you can't get an infopass, you can usually go in and talk to the agent at the information desk, who can refer you to a supervisor on duty. It may take 2-3 months before you get another interview date. The officer I spoke to was pretty nice and said that it is possible but that they would prefer that you didn't reschedule.

I've taken the executive (!) decision to go ahead with my trip and try my luck at rescheduling my interview.

Fingers crossed ..

I called frantically USCIS help line this morning and talked to level 2, second rep was able to pull the interview info (date and time, and location) which was great (letter should be coming second half of this week).

The bad news is it scheduled right in the middle of my summer travels back to Canada..

I have been booking and cancelling flights every 24hr since I got the alert on Friday, and debating what I should do.

I've been reading about rescheduling interview and they make it sound like a daunting thing, which should only be attempted if you have an emergency..

But on the other hand I found this page which says if you are sick you can reschedule it.. haha :

The level 2 guy said when asked that although the letter says to call them to reschedule, they can't do it and advise to go in person to the field office.

On June 15th, my status has been "updated" as again in-line for interview.

Any ideas why? Do you think they moved my file to the other USCIS district ? Or it is normal to have your in-line update twice?

Today in am my online status changed to inline for interview and then in the afternoon changed to interview scheduled and will mail a letter. I got the notification by text message not by email.

Hey there, I'm a March filer but can't see any other San Diegans other than in Jan thread.

I'm a bit concerned they only have scheduled you for interview when you have filed in Jan!

USCIS processing times as of March 31st shows Oct 8th 2015 but that's probably not reliable.

Is San Diego having such a huge backload ? I'm in line since May 18th with March end priority..

Well I actually have two letters. Both took 3 days to arrive after I got notices online.

Stupid question then, does the online notification gives the date of the interview or you have to wait couple days to know in the paper notice?

I moved 2 days before the interview, so the interview was the first time I updated my address with USCIS. I was thinking to call them beforehand, but it was Memorial Day weekend and I figured they wouldn't be open until the day of the interview anyway.

Wow excellent timing! (hopefully moved not too far to be able to attend interview!).

Hoping to get my interview scheduled soon before my move to minimize disruptions.

I moved just before the interview as well. As we were going through my application and the immigration officer asked for my address, I let him know that the current address I had written on the application was no longer the case and I had a new address. He crossed out the old address and wrote the new one in pen on the form, and we carried on with the rest of the application. It wasn't an issue at all, and no questions were asked. He also reassured me that the oath letter would go to the new address. Hope this helps!

Also when did you move, after you got the interview scheduling letter?

I'm curious when you updated your address to USCIS and if the officer saw that as well.
