  1. Hello everyone, I just wanna ask if anyone has encountered this:

I need to change my name on my currently submitted I-485. Under my home country's law, I can only make my husband's surname as my surname and make my maiden surname as my middle name. Long story short, I did something else which is wrong and I need to have it changed/updated before my green card comes since not everyone is required to have an interview and I want to prevent having to replace my green card.

    What steps can I do?

I called USCIS and told me to submit my request to the service center processing my case but I just want to see if any other people have encountered this and hopefully find other ways to do this.

I am hoping someone would respond to me as this is urgent.

    Thank you so much! :)

  2. Hello everyone, we were approved May 22nd and we only called once to ask but it was only 4 days when we called so they obviously dont have our case number yet. Its been 7 business days since we got approved and I'm getting too anxious because of a lot of people posting here that still don't have their case numbers yet but were approved earlier than I do. Just wanna ask who else is waiting on their case numbers and how long have you been waiting and how often do you call NVC.. i would just like to get a little boost here cos i am really getting nervous about NVC. i dont want another long wait and i really want to get my interview scheduled as soon as possible (im sure everyone wants that hehe). share your situations here! ;)

  3. So, I vowed today to not obsesses about things and I came home and took a nap- I didn't even look at Igor's list or anything first. And I slept right through the text from USCIS! rofl.gif

On May 22, 2013, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

It's so funny how I was worrying about the new processing times posted on the USCIS website! Little did i know my prayers have already been answered! Thank you LORD!

For my fellow VSC December filers, yours will come anytime soon! Hang in there!! Just updated my timeline and man, it feels so good!

Now I have a small problem, I won't be able to sleep and I have to get up in two hours to have CFO seminar. Lol.

  7. Thanks....VJ has help me so much that it's the least i can do..... smile.png

Last time when i called they told me they were behind a month but didnt tell me they were working on an specific month, today the give was very helpful and he even round it out to days (25 more days to be exact) i hope he didn't get my hopes high for nothing.

I did however, point out the differences in approval times and his reply was to try not to compare our cases to others because every case is different. I figure i could have use the service request but since i already have the Congresswoman calling on my behalf and since he gave me a time estimate, i decided to wait the 25 days and that would buy me time to gather my paperwork together for the next phase of the journey.

I just pray to God that i don't receive an RFE after all this, that would truly bring me down....but for now i have to stay positive and have faith i will be posting my NOA2 Approved post soon tongue.png

You will get that NOA2 soon :) keep believing and praying! :D thanks for all the info :)

  8. Hello....

So...I started my day by calling my Congresswoman's office, i had contacted them before and wanted an update on their part, they told me that they had received my privacy release form and were actually working on getting me more information and resolution to my case, that was a good sing.

Right after that i called USCIS and spoke to a tier1 officer, she told me that the only information she had was whatever showed on the website, so i went ahead and scalated to a tier2...they offered again to get my contact information and call me back in 3-5 days....of course i refused that offer and just waited....The recording told me this time my estimated waiting time of 40 mins. I waited anyways and at last someone picked up my called.

After explaining the situation to the officer, he said everything looked good on my end, and that so far there is no request of further information (Thank God!!!) but that they are currently working on October 1st, and my case was received on October 26th, so that i should wait for 25 more days so i can receive my NOA2. It is not what i wanted to hear, but at least i got some insight on whats going on....i hate being on the shadows, i feel so powerless because there is nothing i cant do but wait..urgh!!

Anyways, i hope this info is helpful for your....try calling now!!....don't get a NO for an answer, it is your right to be informed and they can't tell you you cant wait for a Tier2..The waiting time this time wasnt as excruciating as yesterday, so go and make the call.... wink.png

    Good Luck!!!

They always say they're working on October 1st but we can see November filers getting approved already, why didn't you ask them to put in a service request for you since you are obviously way out of the normal 5 month processing time according to the uscis website?

Anyhow, I believe you will get your NOA2 soon since the rep did say that you didn't have any RFE. this information is truly helpful, will definitely try and call now! :) thank you so much :)

  9. Hi,

I tried to talking to one today too and i was on hold for 2 hours and a few minutes, that is CRAZY....!!!

I mean, i know i'm not the only one calling but 2 hours on hold seem like a bit much, needless to say i had to hung up without any luck since i was at work and that didn't help my situation. I will try again tomorrow. Good Luck!!!

well at least you got to be put on hold but I wasn't allowed to. they said call a different time. when we did, we got the same answer. its frustrating.

i would love to hear what will happen with your call tomorrow so i hope you can keep me posted! :) thanks!

  10. Hello all,

I'm trying to get to talk to a Tier 2 rep, but Tier 1 reps say they are busy so they couldn't connect us to them and if I offer to wait and its okay for me to be on hold they still won't allow that. I just wanna ask how you guys got to talk to a tier 2 rep based on your experience. Or does anyone know a time where Tier 2 reps are reachable? I'd be glad to hear your experiences. thanks!

  11. I gave the Tier 1 my case number & she read generic phrasing as other people on VJ have indicated. I told her I was outside of normal processing times, and she put me on hold & said they are on October 1. I asked about the 5 months online & she didn't have an answer. Then I asked if I could talk to a Tier 2, and she transferred me without any protest. The Tier 2 I spoke to also agreed it was outside of normal processing time & readily put in a service request for me. From what I've read on here, it all depends on which Tier 2 you get. It seems some are nicer/more helpful than others. If you are using a calling card, I should warn you I was on hold for 48 minutes before I spoke to a Tier 2. Good luck & I hope you also have a good experience!

Thanks for sharing! I think my calling card could last up to 2 hours so I'm good. I hope I'd get nice representatives like you did :)

  12. They let me put in a service request!

Hi, I'm going to call in a few and its going to be my first time to call also. what did you say to the Tier 1 for them to let you get to Tier 2? and what did you say to be able to put in a service request? I need to know cos I'm gonna call from the Philippines using a calling card so I really wanna make the call count. Will be waiting for your response. Thanks in advance :D

  13. That was me but I would not base my approval as a reference point for any other December filers as I had my case expedited.

Aww man, I was thisclose to celebrating because I saw a dec filer got approved! it just doesnt seem expedited to us since its been 5 months so everyone will think that its just vsc starting to work on dec filers. congratulations by the way! :) hope we get ours soon.

  14. Hi my fellow filipino Vjers! I need help with regards to my birth certificate. Please be patient with me and help me with this. Let us assume i am already preparing for my embassy interview. I have 4 questions:

    1) My NSO birth certificate is late registered. I am trying to get my Baptismal Certificate but it has a different surname, my surname was my father's surname (im an illegitimate child) what other documents should I get to support my late registered birth certificate? Will an "affidavit from 2 people who has witnessed my birth" work? Or I dont need any of these and just my birth certificate will do?

    2) I was born at home and it was performed by a traditional midwife but the name is unknown. Thats indicated in my NSO BC too. They can't remember the name. Is that ok?

    3) My birth certificate does not have the name of my father on it, just my mother. and when I was on a J1 visa, when i was answering the DS160, I put my father's name and didnt encounter any problem and was approved. but with K1, will it be an issue?

    4) Do I need an affidavit from both my parents stating that i am their daughter? since my father's name is not on my birth certificate but i put it in my J1 visa application details. (Remember, the US embassy keeps all our documents from our first visa up to the next ones)

I know this is a lot of questions and theyre kinda tricky, but please, i need your opinions. Hoping someone who has encountered one (or all) of my questions can reply. Thanks so much in advance!!

  15. Hello VJers, I need your help!

So, I was on a J1 visa 2 years ago and when I submitted my papers, I wrote my father's name on my visa application even though his name is not on my birth certificate. It's N/A on the "father" field. I am using my Mom's last name and she is never married. I successfully got to the states and didnt have any problems with that issue. Now, I applied for K1 visa and i again included my father's name in the I-129F petition form. Is this going to be a problem when I have my interview in the future? because forms DS157 and DS230 has the parents' info and of course i already need to put my father's name since i need to be consistent with every info i submit to them.

So is this going to be an issue? and if this is, what document can i show them to prove that i am an illegitimate child?

Please help! :( I am over thinking this already.

    Thanks so much in advance!
