You have to use the MRV fee receipt within a year to schedule an interview appointment.  That appointment can be after the year has passed (i.e., after one year after the date on the receipt). To use your example, you pay the MRV fee on 12/30/2022.  You need to schedule your interview prior to 12/30/2023.  The interview can then be in 2023, 2024, 2025 -- whenever the appointment is available.

    Thank you so much!

  2. Hello,

One of my relatives has completed the DS-160 form for B1/B2 new visa application in India, however while completing the next step which is completing the MRV fee and setting up an appointment, I am seeing a pop-up message saying that MRV fee is only valid for 1 year and then it expires.

Given that currently B1/B2 visa waiting time is 2+ years in India, does this mean:-

    • if we pay now on 12/30/2022, the interview date has to be by 12/30/2023, or
    • if we pay now on 12/30/2022, we can schedule the interview within 12/30/2023 for an actual interview date later in 2024 e.g. 6/1/2024?

Thank you for your help in advance!

  3. My wife is a US Citizen and she is trying to file Green Card (I-130 Petition) for her brother. She completely filled out the I-130 form, but at the end she is unable to submit the form as she is getting an error message saying "We were unable to save your form". She was using google chrome and she tried clearing her cache, also tried microsoft edge, nothing helps. Could you please share your thoughts as in why she is getting this error message?

  4. I tried PDF copies, reduced size PDF copies, JPG copies, tried re-scanning them to make new PDF copies, tried from different browsers, it just doesn't seem to work for some reason! I guess my only option left is to file a paper version of the form...thank you for all your suggestions anyways...online application would have been faster but I guess it's not meant to be!

  5. Hello All,

I have started the N400 online application process to be a US Citizen and I am nearly done with the online form, however at the end I am getting stuck at submitting the evidences required - Green Card, Marriage Certificate etc. since for some reason, I just can't upload the PDF files of the documents on the online application's "evidence" tab. I have been trying since the past 2 days and just can't seem to get through, it just says "0% uploaded". The file sizes are about 400 KB, much less than the file size limit of 6 MB, also USCIS mentioned that they can accept PDF copies, however for some reason, these documents are being blocked from being uploaded.

Any suggestions as to how to go around this issue? If this is unsolvable, the only option left is to go for the paper option, which I want to avoid since it will take more time from my end as well as USCIS's end to process the documents. Please help!!!

  6. I got my PR card through my parents who received their PR cards a few years back. I am currently in US working for the past 2 years, however for a number of reasons my parents have decided to return the PR card and continue living in India. In such a scenario, once they return their PR cards, will that affect my PR status in USA in any way? Please share your experiences if somebody else have faced a similar situation earlier.

Thank you for your help in advance!

  7. Hello All,

My wife's visa interview is scheduled in November, however she is yet to complete the Medical Exam prior to it. She lives in Kolkata currently. My question is, previously there was approved panel physicians for medical exam in Eastern India / Kolkata but now it seems all approved physicians are in West / South / North India.

Can anybody please advise if you have some information regarding the approved panel physicians in Eastern India / Kolkata for medical exam?

    Thank you!

  8. Hello All,

I am currently applying for the F2A visa for my wife. I have gathered all the required documents for the AOS Package which should obviously come from myself and also all the documents for the IV Package.

I just need your advice before finally sending the 2 packages out to NVC that does it matter whether the petitioner is sending out the AOS Package & the IV Package from his address? Does it matter from which address I am sending the documents to NVC?

    Thanks!

  9. Hello All,

I am an US LPR & I have applied for F2A Immigration visa for my wife, PD - 4th Feb 2013. Both my wife & myself were nearly done with the IV Package and the paperwork and was going to submit by this week when the retrogression happened. This is a big setback for us no doubt since we hoped that she will be able to join me here very soon, going by the speed at which things were moving.

Anyhow, my question is - Will we still be able to submit all the civil documents for the IV Package and the AOS Package to NVC and get a Case Complete (CC) from them? I understand we will not get a visa interview date until PDF becomes current again.

Thank you for your help all these days throughout...such uncertainty with the PD is really tough to accept...I guess a lot of you are on the same boat as us....can only pray for things to change for better!

  10. Thank you all very much for your replies on this issue! This really will help me a lot going ahead!

Hi Gaurav: Once you have paid the IV fees, and the money has been taken out of your bank account, you should send in the IV package. Do not wait for any emails from them. You need to print out the IV Cover page with the bar code and attach it on top of the IV package (civil documents).

Have you sent in the AOS package, yet? You should send it in, too (with its own bar coded cover page).

    Hello Mr. Ghosh,

Thank you very much for this information as I was also thinking the same that I should not wait for the email from NVC but should go ahead and submit the Docs. I am yet to send the AOS Package as I am still waiting for my 2011 & 2012 tax transcripts from IRS. For the supporting documents for the IV Package along with the online DS - 260, are the following documents all that is required or are there some more which I might be missing?

    1) Bar Coded IV Cover Sheet

    2) Marriage Certificate

    3) Birth Certificate of Applicant

    4) Police Clearance Certificate of Applicant

    5) 2 copies of photo as per NVC specs

    6) Two copies of the biographic info of applicant's passport

Also, can my wife send those documents directly to the NVC address or do I have to do that, keeping in mind that I live in US and she's in India? does it matter in this case?

    Thank you again!

  11. Hello All,

My wife, who is the beneficiary / principal applicant, has submitted the DS 260 form 2 days back after having paid the IV Processing Fees & the AOS fees. With regard to providing the supporting documents to NVC for the DS 260, please advise on my following doubts:-

    1) How much time do I have to provide NVC with the supporting documents now that we have submitted the online DS 260?

    2) My wife has chosen me as her agent in Form DS 261, so who will now get the IV package? Is it me in US or my wife in India?

I am really looking forward to your advice on these queries. Please help!

  12. Hello All,

I have applied for my wife's green card and currently she's filling the DS 260 form. However, she's not sure what to mention for the following 2 questions:-

1.Do you have documentation to establish that you have received vaccinations in accordance with U.S. law?
    2.
Is your spouse immigrating to the U.S. with you?
If No, then another question comes-
Is your spouse immigrating to the U.S. at a later date to join you?
For the 1st question, she has taken some of the required vaccines but documentation is not available to her.
For the 2nd question, I, her spouse / petitioner is already here in US as a US Permanent Resident and so we are not sure what to mention for these 2 questions.
If any of you can share what you chose to wrote as an answer to these questions then it would be greatly helpful for us!
    Thank you very much!
  13. Hello All,

I have started the NVC stage of my wife's US Green Card application in April 2014. I am currently working full-time with a reputed company from end-Feb 2014 but in 2013, I only had a part-time graduate student job with a University here in US. So obviously in 2013, I had an income much below the stated benchmark of 125% of US poverty level but currently in 2014, my income is much above that mark.

Hence, I would like to request your opinion that do I need a joint sponsor here for the AOS? My current Pay Slip / Letter of Employment are much above the bench-marked 125% of US Poverty level but my 2011 / 2012 / 2013 US Income tax return (W-2 / Form 1040) are much below it and so I am in two minds. Also, I would not like to prefer to have a joint sponsor but if the need arises, I might have to. So, please help me with your comments on this issue as I am sure there are a few of you who might have also faced a similar predicament as mine.

Thank you very much as always!

  14. Hello All,

I have started the NVC phase of my wife's application for the Green Card from yesterday with paying out the AOS bill and my wife is currently fillng up the online DS 261 form. My question is, should she choose me (the petitioner) as her agent or should she choose herself (the applicant / beneficiary) as her own agent? Who would pay the IV fees in either case?

    Please help!

Thanks a lot for all your help till now!

  15. Hello,

Just to give a background, my uncle had applied for my parents for the US Green Card back in 1999 and since I was a minor then, my application was also included simultaneously. Ultimately, my green card application also got processed simultaneously along with my parents in 2011 and from 2012 I have permanently moved to US. My parents however have been trying to maintain the green card for the past 2 years going back & forth between US & India but they are not sure how much longer they would be able to physically do this. My question is, in case they decide to give up their US Permanent Residence permanently, will it affect my Green Card status? Let me clarify here that I am 27 years old and my idea is that since I have long moved out of the "minor, dependent" category status into being an adult, it should not affect my residence status in US. However, if any of you know anything otherwise, please advise on this...it would be of great help for me....thanks a lot!

  16. Hello guys...I had applied for my wife's US Permanent Residency (F2A) category on 4th February, 2013 and finally it got accepted in November, 2013 by USCIS and the application was handed over to NVC as per the usual norms.

Now, I am currently looking for jobs in the USA and hence would like to wait until I get a job and then file for the DS-261 online form with NVC to start the entire process with NVC.

I have a few questions in this regard which are as follows :-

    1) I have an income of around 20,000 $ in 2013 from my part-time work which I hope is enough to meet the 125% of US Poverty Level guidelines for a family of two. However, I want to wait until I get a full-time job (hopefully soon) which should be much higher pay as compared to the previous part time work which I did. Am I doing something wrong over here? Also, I have checked the US poverty level to be $ 15,510 for a family of 2 people, so am I in a good position right now?

    2) Once I complete the DS-261 online form, can anybody give me a rough idea of how much time it will take from then on to get the US Permanent Resident visa? I have checked the US State Dept. website, my application with NVC has a CURRENT priority date so we don't need to wait if the documents are OK.

I really hope somebody out there can give us their advice from their own experiences of dealing with this issue first hand in the last few months.

    Thank you!

  17. Hello Guys,

I got the information from USCIS today that the I130 petition I filed for my wife got approved today only (NOA2 Approval) and I would be receiving the formal confirmation via mail soon.

I know that in the next stage, my wife's application would be handed over to NVC who would contact me but I am not sure as to what are the exact steps in this 2nd stage.

I am sure some of you in this forum have been in a similar situation not so long ago, so if any of you can just give an approximate sequence of events with regard to the NVC processes following the NOA2 then it would be really helpful for me to plan accordingly.

    Thank you in advance!

  18. Hello Keemo,

I am a LPR myself which I got through my dad and then I had applied for my wife (currently in India, an Indian citizen) in 4th February, 2013, starting with the I130 petition. For some reason, the USCIS has become very active in the last 2 months or so and just within 8 months, the I130 has been approved today, on 4th October 2013. If everything goes well, I am guessing from my own experience that it shouldn't take her more than middle of 2014 to come here after all the documentation formalities have been completed in a timely manner. So, altogether, if USCIS can keep up the current pace, then it should take you 1.5 years at most to bring in your wife to USA.

    Hope this helps!

  19. Thanks a lot to you all for taking time out and replying to my post...I called up USCIS yesterday and as per my discussions with an Immigration officer, I sent a written letter to the Nebraska Service Center informing them about the changed address of my wife (beneficiary) against the I130 Receipt No. and also sent in the copies of my US Permanent Resident Card and NOA1 along with the letter...hopefully it will suffice...otherwise, as I understand from your posts, I can always update it in the NVC stage...

  20. Hello All,

I am a US Permanent Resident and I have filed the I130 form for my wife (beneficiary) on 4th February 2013. Currently, my case has been shifted to the USCIS Nebraska Service Center and is pending approval there.

In the meantime, my wife, who is currently in India, has shifted from her old address to a new address.

To inform this change of address of the beneficiary, I can't use the online version or the paper version of the Form AR-11 which is only for US Aliens. In her case, she is yet to get any US Visa Status.

Did any of you ever face this kind of a situation before? I am thinking of writing directly to the Nebraska Service Center informing them about the change but I am not sure whether it's the right approach...if any of the Visajourney members have previously faced this situation before then I would really like to know how did you resolve this issue?

Really looking forward to your help on this guys....

    Thanks a lot!
