  1. The timelines go up and down. When we first applied, the estimated wait time for NOA2 was almost a year and half. By the time they got to our case, it had move back down to 6 months. It goes back and forth. I think this happens with the embassies too. You can still visit Egypt, its just not recommended by the government. My boyfriend tells me all the time its not as bad as the media makes it seem. Not every spot, in every city is in an uproar. I'm in the same situation. I haven't seen my boyfriend in almost a year and a half, but I still hopeful everything will keep moving. All this stuff was happening in Egypt back in 2011, and eventually things calmed down and the process started moving again. Keep your chin up! It could be worse.

  2. Our interview was scheduled within the past few weeks, and then canceled because the embassy was closed. Within 3 days of the embassy re-opening, we received a phone call with our new interview date, so it only took a few days to get rescheduled. Our rescheduled date is scheduled for 24 days from our original interview date.

  3. They can take as long as they want. We've been waiting 4+ months, and we're hoping to hear by at least sept, but there's no guarantee. I've followed a few other timelines of people who applied to Cairo for K1, and it took them about 5-6 months, but that was before they shut down for protesting. I'm sure they will be a bit more backed up since they will have to reschedule all those interviews.

I sent mine 1st week of june . Nothing yet . But i am hoping August or Sep. Can they really take longer than that ?

  4. That link is only to check the status of Non-immigrant visas. K1 are processed as immigrant visas. You can check to see if your case number is scheduled here: http://egypt.usembassy.gov/consular/iv8.html Since they were closed for a few weeks, they seem to be more behind than usual. I've emailed them before a few times, but they usually just respond, "When we schedule you, we will contact you." They won't give any more information than that. It seems the only options you have with this embassy is to wait. You can't really get much information from them.

    Good luck! Stay positive!

  5. Haha yeaaa hopefully you'll have your NOA2 early next week. I hope everybody gets done soon this tests your patience so much.

Btw does anybody know what happens now? How do you track your case now? (whether its left for nvc, left for the embassy from nvc etc)

We were approved today as well! NOA1 date of July 20th. We were wondering the same thing. Will our NOA2 letter give us new tracking information?
