  1. I would like to have some information on Police Certificate required at the time of interview. I haven't received my NOA2 yet, but trying to gather some information beforehand.

Foreign police certificates: Applicants who have resided in any other country for one year or more after the age of 16 may also be required to submit police certificates for these countries. Applicants may check the visa reciprocity table on the website: www.travel.state.gov regarding obtaining such certificates. U.S. police certificates are not required for applicants who have lived in the U.S.A. Non-Indian immigrant visa applicants residing in India should obtain police certificates from the district police station serving their area of residence."

I have found the above information on US Embassy, New Delhi website in "INFORMATION FOR K1 (Fiancé) VISA APPLICANTS (PACKET 3)". After my previous marriage, I stayed in Oman for 13 years. Just before our separation I was on employment visa. When I got separated from my ex-husband, I resigned from my job & returned to India. So my employment visa automatically got cancelled. And I never went back to Oman after October 2007. I am staying in India for past 5.5 years now. In this case, is it mandatory for me to get Foreign Police Certificate from Oman?

Yes it is mandatory. Here are the instructions for obtaining police records from Oman

http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_5455.html?cid=8965 just scroll all the way down to 'Police Record'

  2. Someone can help me?

my question is: if I was living in Venezuela for 1 year. where i can get this Police certificate ? in Venezuela? or in my Country Colombia?

How I can do if actually i am livinf in Colombia?

You can request it online from government of Venezuela here http://www.mpprij.gob.ve/

Just click on 'certificaciones para tramites internacionales' and follow their instructions.

  4. Hey guys! I see everyone talking about like..oh this many k1 have been approved this month or a day. Besides on the info on VJ(many ppl obviously don't use VJ) i was wondering if there is a place on uscis website that states it? Ppl have made graphs and charts about it and also for the dream act stuff so I was wondering if anyone could let me know ?

    Thanks guys!

You can check the charts on the USCIS website. Its not letting me post the link but if you go to case status page and scroll down under processing time, click on 'view national volumes and trends for all applications' then you can search according to application type.

  5. Thanks Anshika! (and Eric C too!)

You mean the USCIS lets cameras in? Or are you referring to the federal courts where the oath ceremony used to happen? Every time I have gone to that USCIS building, for other reasons, they told me that I had to leave my Samsung outside because it had a camera.

    That's why I asked...

    tom

My oath ceremony was held in the memorial auditorium in Sac. I wasnt aware the location had changed but if your oath ceremony is in a federal building I dont think they would allow any cameras...not sure though.

  6. Hey guys

Finally i got my K1 visa approved at the Delhi consulate on 13 Feb 2013..yayyyy...its been a long wait for us. but finally we made it through. I am excited to travel now. Havent recievd my passport yet. Could you guys please let me know what all is required from me at the POE in US.. i want to start preparing in advance. I have posted my experience at the embassy reviews.

Thanks to all my fellow VJ members. Its been a long journey and without each others support its really a tough task

Let me know if any of you needs any help from me and i will be glad to assist.

    regards

I dont know about POE as my fiance and I are still waiting for NOA2 but I wanted to say congrats and thanks for posting a review on your interview, it was very helpful. My fiance and I are also an interracial couple and will be going through New Delhi Embassy. I've read some many reviews stating that is a tough embassy especially for interracial couples. It seemed kinda basic and simple for you but every case is different so I still plan on attending interview with my fiance. Its also good that you were not put into AP as the majority of cases I read have been. Once again congrats to the both of you and safe journey to the US :)

  7. Anybody know how long the oath ceremony at USCIS office in Sacramento takes? I have my ceremony tomorrow (yay!!), and was curious.

Also, does anybody know whether my girlfriend can bring in a camera to capture this special moment on film?

    thanks!

    First of all congrats!

It takes about 3 to 4 hours depending on how many people will be taking oath. First you get in line just to get in, then there is a few presentations/program, and finally the oath ceremony. After this, you get in line again to pick up your naturalization certificate. Once that is completed you have the option to get in another line to register for an updated social security card. You can bring camera in but best if you have zoom on it because people taking oath get seated on ground level and friends/family get seated in upper levels. Also good idea to both bring phone so you can find each other as there will be many people. It was this way about a year ago for me, dont know if anything has changed since then.

  8. Hey guys! Got my noa1 hardcopy :) happy!

Anyways..it says my fiances country of birth is unknown. Some people have had this before and said u must call and tell them to update it right away..why would it say this even though I had the forms all saying hes from Turkey? I think maybe its just because when they sent the noa1 they didnt even open the stuff yet so they just have our names and stuff..from the e-notification form(which they ignored on mine haha) but they have our birthdays?

Just wondering what u guys think?

Anyways I went to call them, not open on the weekends..or no one is there to talk, but before I realized this I went through the process of putting my receipt number in and everything then it told me some kind of status I guess...he said they changed my fiances registration number. That makes me think that they have all the information now , I will still call monday to make sure, but thats a good update for me :D

I also received my first NOA stating "unknown" for my fiance's country of birth even though I did provide it. I called the number listed online & the rep said she would send a service request to Calif service center to have this updated.

I-129f sent 12/14/12. Texas lockbox received 12/17/12. NOA 1 dated 12/19/12. Alien registration number changed 12/21/12.
