  1. Hey everyone. So we had our interview earlier today. It went fairly well and the officer told us we were approved the card would be mailed whithin 2 to 4 weeks. I got the text notification while we were walking out of the building (literally). I just checked online and the I-485 status is now "card production". It never went through the other steps. Is this the norm?

  2. Hey! How's this, was fun to make!By the way does anyone know a way to post it so it doesn't load the full image like this and make my post huge? I tried playing with code snippets but that didn't work.

    That looks cool. Thanks

  3. Bear with me as I'm on my iPod, but I had the idea (as we're in the age where pretty much everyone has a camera or can design something) of having a picture/design thread. A place where people can show off their creations related to their us ventures. For example, my fiancé and I merged our countries flags and we each keep one in our room, I also designed the same concept for my iPod background. I'll post them when I get back on my pc next, but I figured I'd get the thread going before I forgot about it.

    Post away!

P.s I thought it'd be nice for people to request images too. I'm happy to design the same kind of iPhone background for other countries if people want it.

Cool beans! If you would please design one merged flag for us it would be awesome. We have 4 nationalities between my husband and I. He's Puerto rican American and I am French and Ivorian. So that's Ivory Coast+ France+Puerto Rico+USA.

    Thanks

  4. Called USCIS today as its been over 30 since receiving the testing/interview stage for our I-485 to inquire when we'd get our interview and was told that Atlanta office are still processing July 2012 Applicants so would be another 3-4 months before an interview. Things must have gone wrong over the new year as when we filed on December 13th it said 4 months total.

    Oh well

    M

{Sigh} Atlanta is also our local office and we were thinking as much because we got the 'ready for scheduling' message mid January and nothing since then.

  5. Hi guys as said in the title I have dual citizenship France and cote d'ivoire. I do have both passports but my french one is expiring.

Question: Do I need to get it renewed before our Aos interview? I sent copies of both my passports in my package. However the closest consul is in Atlanta but it's a bit of drive so if it's not necessary i'd like to avoid it for now.

Also I applied for my visa to the USA based on my Ivorian nationality and that passport is still valid. So any suggestions?

    Thanks.

  6. I am going to send (I-130, G-325A, I-864, I-485, I-765) Forms. In I-765 it again say submit marriage certificate and non immigrant visa copy, 9-94 . It means Should I again include these copies. I already included these documents with I-864 and I-130 .

Yes you should add a copy of what is asked for each form. I believe the forms go to different departments.

  7. I have eyes and have seen this happening and I am not the type to lie about it. I said many because it happens more than it should, which is why all of us have such an uphill battle to prove legitimate relationship. Every time I mention fraud in west african relationships I get those that are offended, some of which amuse me because the fraudsters fuss the loudest.

lol. Never called you a liar and I know fraud exist. I said the generalization was uncalled for but you can think whatever you want. Next

  8. Two things come to mind, African time and shopping for the best deal.

African time, the attitude that soon means this year and quickly can take weeks. Every time I visited the plans for the day were started the night before. So we would start the morning by doing X. However the next day would start with breakfast taking forever, then soeone would be dropping something by and they would always be stuck in traffic, then it would be lunch time and why eat on the road, and then .... so whatever X was, we would get there about 3 pm and all other activities would be added to the following days schedule.

Shopping for the best deal. Many people from 3rd world countries will make several contacts in an effort to immigrate to the US. They will then see which one pans out best or is the most attractive. Because immigration is a family matter the whole family will smile and greet each contestant with equal joy and the immigrant to be will decide ( usually in african time ) which one is best suited to be his stepping stone to the US.

Hopefully it is just a bad case of african time.

I find your generalization pretty offensive. Maybe your husband was "shopping for the best deal" when he married you but that's not the case for every African. Beside not everybody sees the USA as paradise on earth and in some cases the USC are the ones who are not ready to move. Also immigration is not a "family matter" in my case. My family financed my education here without any issue so they sure as hell are not waiting for my husband to come and saved them. Makes me wonder what type of family you got married into sheesh

  9. Thanks for your response.

Yes, if I understood correctly, I can only file I-130 for now, and when my number comes up in line, I can then file for the adjustment of status with I-485. I'd appreciate everyone's input.

When your spouse gets naturalized you can go ahead with the AOS application. You can also wait till she gets US citizenship and file everything concurrently.

  10. Hello guys,

So I married my fiance on january 1st!

She is a US Green Card holder. I was a bit confused on the forms we need to send out. Should we send out I-485 along with I -130 and G-325A? Or does that come after the I-130 has been accepted?

Also, I assume we should send out all the evidence with I-130?

I am going back to school in the US until I receive the GC, if that makes any difference.

Thank you all so much, any advice is well appreciated.

Hi MisterEko, It is my understanding that you cannot adjust your status based on marriage with a LPN (green card holder). Your wife has to become a US citizen before you can file I-485.

I think you can file the I-130 petition in the meantime. But someone with more knowledge on the subject with certainly give you more insight. Best of luck on your journey.

  11. they will re-attempt the rest of the week.

at some point, it'll be delivered and you'll get the confirmation of it.

No Sweat, from you, for now.

Freak out in 3 weeks, though, if no delivery confirmation.

USCIS has a designated person that goes to the post office and picks up everything at the same time, and signs for it. It will probably get picked up today before the post office closes, don't worry. It's not lost or anything, its just waiting for someone to pick it up from USCIS.

Thank you guys. I just checked and it now says that it was delivered later in the day.

Does anyone know how long USCIS takes to notify applicants that they received a reply to a RFE?

  12. Hi guys, we got an RFE a couple of weeks ago, and mailed the documents back to USCIS last friday, using USPS. It was through priority mail/delivery confirmation but no signature was required since its a PO box. However I checked the tracking number but it says

"We attempted to deliver your item at 10:46 am on January 07, 2013 in LEES SUMMIT, MO 64002 and a notice was left because an authorized recipient was not available. You may arrange redelivery by visiting www.usps.com/redelivery or calling 800-ASK-USPS, or may pick up the item at the Post Office indicated on the notice. If this item is unclaimed after 15 days then it will be returned to the sender. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later."

So I called the post office and the rep told me it could be because the box was full.

Anyway what do we do now?

1- do we just wait and see if someone from USCIS goes pick it up at the post office? (I doubt that will ever happen)?

2- or do we mail the missing form over again?

  13. HI everyone, we received the letter requesting evidence in the mail couple of days ago and they are asking us to "Submit a complete Federal Income tax Return submitted to the internal revenue Service(IRS) from the petitioner/sponsor on form I-864, Affidavit of support, for the most recent tax year."

We know the reason for that is because the husband did not file his tax for 2011. We went to his accountant to have that sorted out.

    My questions are:

1- Do we need to re-send the whole I-864 package or just the missing form?

2- We have a joint sponsor, but since the notice states the words "petitioner/Sponsor" and nothing about a Joint Sponsor and we included all his tax transcripts for the past 3 years, do we need to include all his paperwork again?

    Help would be appreciated.
