  1. My interview was at 10:45 today, I got there 2 hours earlier lol, went into the office at 9:45 and was given a red sheet to wait till about 30 minutes before my interview, at 10:15 I was checked in. I was called by my IO at 11. He started with the civic test : 1. name one branch of government? 2.how many supreme court justices do we have? 3. what did the declaration of independence do? 4.we elect US senators for how many years? 5. what does the president cabinet do? 6. if both the president and vice president can no longer serves who becomes president?. Then he asked me to read When is Columbus Day? and I wrote Columbus day is in October. then we went over my application and he got to the part about citiation I told him I got one after I filled out my application and I gave him the payment of the citiation and he added it to my document and said "YOU HAVE PASSED!!!!!!!!". I asked about the oath and he said there was a ceremony at 1:30pm and if I wanted to join and I said yes.

So I am done with USCIS . I am an American citizen . yipeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank you guys . I wish everyone all the best.

    Congratulations!

  2. How was it?

zzmr_qzz must have been at the same ceremony, unless Philly has more than one a day.

It was actually very straightforward. Arrived there around 10:45 and the ceremony started around 11:15. They played a couple of videos and had each person come up to verify the information on their certificates. Took the oath, said the pledge of allegiance and then each person was called up front to get their certificate. It lasted about 45 mins to 1 hour.

There were two ceremonies. One at 9am and the other at 11am so zzmr_qzz might have been at the one earlier in the morning.

  3. Hi Kwakun,

Do they allow people to take cell phones inside? I am assuming they will ask the applicants to turn them off if they do. If they don't allow, I plan to leave it in the car.

    Thanks.

Both my husband and I brought our cell phones into the building. We both had our phones out while waiting and I noticed other people were doing the same. There were signs saying "no cellphone use" but I believe that means you can't make or take phone calls. No one bothered us about having our cell phones out.

  4. I'm glad to report that I passed my interview!

My interview appointment was for 11:15 am at the Philadelphia office but we arrived a little after 10am and parked at a paid parking then walked down the street to get some breakfast. We walked back down and arrived back at the office around 11am. Signed in and then I was called around 11:30am. The IO swore me in and began going over my application and confirming spellings, dates and other details. He then went over the yes and no questions. After that, I took the civics test. My questions were exactly the same as zzmr_qzz's...

    1. what is freedom of religion?

    2. how many U.S senators are there?

    3. when must all men register for the selective service?

    4. when was the constitution written?

    5. Name one state that borders Canada?

    6. what ocean is on the east coast of the United States?

I was then given a sentence to read and another to write. The IO then recommended me for approval. I live in Delaware so he told me he could schedule an oath for me at the Delaware office which would be a month from today. I told him I wouldn't mind driving back down to Philadelphia for an earlier date. I was then scheduled for my oath on Monday, April 4th at 11:00am. The entire process took about an hour from arrival till we left the building. Very pleasant experience.

    Thanks VJ!

  5. quan12,

I didn't even know that Guamanians were required to naturalize to obtain US citizenship! I had assumed that as a US national, you could just move to the US to become a citizen... too bad you have to go through this process with the rest of us. Good luck with your application!

A lot of people pay extra for overnight or 48 hour courier service... if you used regular mail, your application may have taken a lot longer to get to USCIS. I wouldn't worry if I were you... if there's a problem and they return your packet, you just correct the issue and refile... you'll have only lost two weeks. But I think it's too soon to worry; hopefully it'll be cashed in the next day or two.

True...I mailed my package on December 8th, it arrived at the P.O.Box on Friday December 11th but was picked up early Monday morning. Hopefully it happens within the next couple of days!

15 days - there are no knews

Did you send a personal check or a money order?

  6. Do you have yours in your hands? I've been waiting mine and this waiting is type ridiculous.. As if 8 months of processing wasn't enough, I lost my extension letter and I call the 800 number they just told me to go and travel with my approval letter and expired green card, the lady the only attitude. And still NO GREEN CARD (new card is being produced) plus here in New York there's no info pass available, you imagine..

After looking through the November 2014 filers thread, I am not expecting to receive my card in hand any time soon. It seems it is taking 4+ weeks from the "card in production" notification to actually receiving the physical card. Oh well...

  7. Don't worry about the address change. We changed our address less than two weeks ago, and last week I received the application approval - and this week they sent out the card.

During this time, they had also sent an approval letter to the new address. I was expecting the worst, but was positively surprised by USCIS' prompt change of our address.

Nice, thanks! I hope I have a similar experience.

  8. It actually would concern anyone British who is living in the US (if they like Cadbury's that is) whether temporarily or on a permanent basis so I'm not sure what you are trying to prove here other than you have learnt to copy and paste links?

No, any moron can copy-paste. I am highlighting your wrong choice of word. Your audience (visa journey) is geared towards immigrants. Expatriates convene on a different forum.

Also, you applied and were approved for an IR-1/CR-1 visa. Expatriates aren't your fellows, immigrants are.
