We met thru mutual friends, here in the US. There was an instant connection and we became friends. He was actually in another relationship and so was I, so we never gave it much thought. A year later, his gf was caught cheating on him, with her best friends fiance.

It broke my heart to see him go thru this, and we talked alot, during all of that. Later, I guess he confused my friendship, and started asking me out. I was still in a relationship, and have never been the cheating kind. So I refused, many times, until finally I told him that I would never be anyone's "rebound" and I would never cheat on my partner and that it was best that he quit calling. He continued to call, until one night, I handed my then boyfriend the phone. Words were exchanged, and he never called back.

2 more years passed by, and I often thought of him. Just wondering where he was at, or what was going on in his life. Wondered if he was married or moved back to Mexico or deported (since he was there in the US illegally). I missed him, because we had became such good friends.

Then one day, out of the blue, he called as I was on my way home from work. He asked how I was doing and told me that he never forgot me. He had a tone in his voice, like deep concern, but I never could figure out why. That was, until I got home. I walked in the door and my then boyfriend of 4 years had packed everything up and was gone. No note, no reason, no fights no nothing.....just gone. He had his phone turned off and I felt a deep hole in my heart.

My now fiance, showed up at my door with flowers and a huge teddy bear. He said that he had actually seen my ex with all his stuff, standing outside the bus station. My ex told him that he was leaving me and going to Mexico to be with his WIFE?! WHAT?! I never even knew that he was married. I didn't believe what my now fiance was telling me. And he said, that is why I called you, is because I thought he had told you that he was leaving. And he just wanted to make sure that I was ok. Phone records came in and of course right there in front of me was several numbers that I didn't recognize. I started going down the list calling them. That is when I found out that he not only had a wife, but also had a baby with another woman that he cheated on me with too.

My now fiance gave me space and was just there as a friend. I was so confused. How could I have not known all these things?! Well I had always worked 1st shift and my ex always worked 2nd shift, so that is how he had kept so many secrets. Another year passed by, and my fiance never gave up on me. He told me that he had been in love with me since the very first day we met and asked me out again. I finally gave him that chance, and very soon, I was as in love with him as he was with me. We were and are the best of friends and couple. He moved in with me shortly after, and the rest is history.

After 8 years of being here illegally, he decided it was time to go home and see his family. His mother had a heart attack (but survived). His sister was diagnosed with cancer, so it was time to go home. We couldn't bear being apart, so We loaded what we could in the back of our truck and drove the 3 days to Mexico and lived.

I was in shock, of the extreme poverty and living conditions, I cried for days but refused to leave him. But after being there for several months, we talked about coming back to the US again. I don't want him to risk coming the way he came illegally again, so we began looking into the fiance visa. And that is where we are at right now. I came back to the US and filed, and now we just wait and wait some more. It's not gonna be an easy process, I know. We will be denied his visa, then will have to file a waiver for his illegal presence. I just pray to God that we can do so successfully. If we can't, then I have no other choice as to give up everything I own and move to Mexico until the 10 year ban has passed. But I am giving this petition all I've got, and living on prayers. I love that man with all of my heart and soul.
