  1. The dreaded 221(g). There is a cure but it comes in so many different forms (pun intended). 1943.gif

you got that right! Sharon took care of her first re-medical visit yesterday. She was told to return on the 24th because SLEC was over booked for Sputum tests. Since she had previous Xrays they told her they didn't need to redo them that she just had to redo the sputum tests and then wait again.

  2. Hi everyone, how long is the expiration of SLEC medical? is it only 2 months?

    Thanks :)

Above users are correct. Unless you received DOT for TB. That medical clearance is only good for 3 months. Unfortunately ours expired while waiting to schedule an interview and an unexpected G221.

  3. Our 221g (japanese police clearance)took 15 days to process.

    Unfortunately our response wasn't favorable.

After the 15 days we received a second 221g. The medical clearance had expired. So Sharon has to redo her medical exam. So she did go through St. Luke's TB treatment from her original medical exam. After finishing DOT that clearance was only good for 3 months. So in the process of waiting for a interview, obtaining police clearance (221g), and USEM administrative processing her original medical clearance has expired.

Now he has another 221g. This one says she was to go and retrieve her passport from USEM and then resubmit a medical from SLEC. I'm guessing she'll probably have to do the sputum exam and wait again since she did have positive xrays and receive treatment.

    Oh boy. this sucks

  4. The gods are never wrong.... which is why you give them what they ask for.

That is exactly what I told her to do. No point in trying to argue. The CO was very polite. He asked her about 3 questions about my family and then one about living abroad in Japan. So she gave an honest answer and CO asked about the police clearance. She said she was there just about 6 months and the CO wanted the clearance. He apologized to her but said her interview was good to go and she only needed clearance and she would be issued her Visa.

So yesterday Sharon picked up the forms from the Japan embassy. She needs to go to a PNP office to get fingerprints then submit the form and fingerprints to the Japan Embassy. Hopefully it doesn't take terribly long so she can finish up this last speedbump.

  5. So Sharon went to her interview yesterday. She said it was very short. The CO looked at her documents and only asked her a few questions. He did ask about her living abroad. She said she lived in Japan for 5 months. The CO then said that any stay abroad for multiple months requires police clearance. So she was told to get police clearance at Japan embassy. The interview was passed but she needed just clearance to get her Visa.

I'm not worried about her getting police clearance but I"m worried about her medical clearance from SLEC. She went through 6 months DOT and they told her that medical clearance is only good for 60 days from when she got the clearance. Japan embassy said the police clearance may take 30-60 days to process.

  6. Congrats AJ, your fiancee should be in the EM quay at this moment... a 6 month medical hold must have been brutal...I'm glad you were proactive rather than wait for interview letter that possibility never been sent.. :star:

Yeah I wasn't content on waiting for something that may or may not happen. I felt pressure because the medical clearance from SLEC is only good for 90 days. SLEC couldn't help with scheduling due to no open dates other than those late cancellations that were popping up on the site.

    Thanks for the support.

@Hank_ Thanks for the advice as well. I told her they weren't necessary but she brought them because she thought they would be good proof to the officer that things were indeed legit.

  7. Thanks for feedback. My initial thought was SLEC was going to assist. However they said since usem is backed up they can't schedule it for her. I've emailed the manila embassy to ask for advice. Should we try and contact SLEC again as well as phone call to embassy?

Just an update: Last Saturday at 3am the ctc alarm went off. I was fast and got the June 25th date. So long story short Sharon is on her way to USEM right now for her interview.

All of our paperwork, medical clearance and she even brough the old packet (pre-ds160) as a bit of evidence that we were ready to rock last October :)

  8. Hello, there! I see you've been here since Dec 2012. You must be married by now. :dancing:

Not quite. I have been with my fiancee since 2011 and I started her petition in Feb of 2013. In October of 2013 when she was interview ready she headed to her medical. Unfortunately she tested positive for TB. She had to do the 6month DOT. We just got her 90 day medical clearance two weeks ago. We are now just waiting for the interview schedule at USEM to open. I see you are local CA as well. Sure is a warm beautiful day today.

    Ngat po.

  9. Normally SLEC contacts USEM to schedule after they are done. Did St. Luke's say anything about doing that? If not may try making a call or email and explain the situation.

  10. Hello,

My fiancee is about to finish up her 6month TB treatment at St. Luke. As I understand I also need to pay for a second medical examination. For the second medical exam will they do a lung xray and culture again for two months? I'm trying to get good grasp on an idea where I can go and visit her for the interview.
