  1. Which US Embassy will your papers be processed, is it in Phils or Indonesia? In my case before, my papers was processed in Abu Dhabi, UAE so on my letter of intent i have mentioned that i am currently residing and working in Dubai, UAE then I brought my Letter of Intent to the Philippine Consulate in Dubai to have it notarized by them. As soon as the LOI was notarized i sent the original to my fiancee (kept a scanned copy of it) so he could submit it to USCIS.

You can survive the processing of your papers even without a lawyer, most of the people here in VJ managed to successfully finish their visa journey without the help of a lawyer (including me). All you gotta do is read and ask questions if you're uncertain of some things.

    Good luck!

  2. I-129F Question 18

How elaborate is your: "Declaration of how you met in person in the last two years"?

    What you guys writing here?

Should this be a timeline of when met and progress?

Should this be a sentence where and how you met and then include all of the evidence of ongoing relationship?

What my fiance did was he attached a sheet that has the synopsis of our story which I wrote (i.e. how and where we met, how we got reconnected after several years, etc). What's most important is that you can show proofs that will support your story like for us we met when we were in grade school and got reconnected after 13yrs so we've included our gradeschool class pictures and the other pics that we have when we met again in Manila in 2011.

  3. Hello Everyone!

So I finally got my Visa packet today and im planning to leave for US next month, I just want to know if there's still anything that I need to do before exiting UAE and flying to US? I know that in Philippines, everyone are required to attend the CFO / Pre-departure Orientation Seminar prior leaving for US, but in my case though I am from Philippines (Manila) I will be travelling from Dubai to the US. I suppose i don't need to attend any pre-departure orientation stuff before i leave, right?

I hope those who are formerly staying here in UAE can share their idea about this especially those who traveled to US coming from Dubai or Abu dhabi.

Thank you & Have a nice day :)

  4. Hello VJ family, I'm wondering now that we are passed the 5 month stage and anticipating getting the noa2 somewhat soon, when is a good time to get my employment letter? now or just after the NoA2. Now my company does this weird online thing as far as the letter goes, is it better to have them handwright it and the stamp it?. Also exactly what needs to be on there other than,

    Years of service

    Annual salary

    date of hire

    anything else I'am missing?

As always thank you for your answers in advance, have a great day.

You may request for your employment letter atleast a month before the interview at the Embassy. The most important thing is the Employment Letter must be printed on the Company Letter Head, its good if your HR In-charge can put a company stamp on it but its not really necessary since its already printed on the company letter head.

  5. Hello Everyone!

I had my interview & K-1 visa Approval last February 6,2013 at Abu Dhabi Embassy here in UAE, the CO told us to register at the CSC site (https://usvisa-info.com) and wait for the e-mail notification regarding the collection of the passport & visa packet. I did register on the said site but unfortunately due to confusion I was not able to immediately update the courier office location where I wish to pick up my documents, only today I was able to update my CSC Account and finally selected the Empost Courier location where I want to collect my documents.

I'm a bit worried that I might not immediately get my documents since it took me few days before finally registering the courier location where I wish to collect my documents. I also send an e-mail to the Immigrant section of US embassy to inquire about this matter, i hope they will soon forward my documents to the courier location that I have selected so I could collect my passport & visa packet.

Thank you to those who will take time to read and give relevant comment/advise on this topic.

  6. I believe she left after 2 weeks, work related reason. Do check with Philippine Consulate there if you can... Have a pleasant trip...

Oh i see, will try to check then at Philippine Consulate here, i hope they could give proper answers because most of the time the staff there are not really that hospitable and accommodating. thank you anyway for your response! :)

  7. Since you are already in Dubai, I don't think you need to attend the CFO/PDOS seminar because you have already done that when you went to Dubai and was already registered. My Niece went directly from Dubai to the US when she married her American BF, she did not came back here and attended the CFO seminar because just like you she was also working in Abu Dhabi. She also got her CR1 visa there. I hope this helps but do check if there are new rules to avoid inconvenience.

I actually came here on visit visa in 2006 so I did not undergo the Pre-departure orientation seminar when I left Manila but I always pay for the OWWA and OEC fee every time I go for vacation in Manila. Did your niece immediately went to US as soon as she got her visa?

  8. Hello Everyone!

Last February 6, 2013 I attended my Fiance Visa Interview at US Embassy Abu Dhabi and I got the Approval for Fiancee visa :)

I just have a question while waiting for my passport & visa, I am from Manila but currently working here in Dubai. Once I receive my passport & visa I am planning to go directly to the US to be with my Fiance. I know that in Philippines, everyone who has to leave and go to other country such as US has to attend a CFO / Pre-departure orientation Seminar. In my case since I am flying directly to the US from Dubai I want to know if there will be a possibility that I will encounter a problem in future once I go back to Philippines just because I did not attend the CFO Seminar in Manila before flying to the US.

Thanks in advance for those who will take time to give their advice. Have a great day everyone! :)

  9. If the certificate expired February 3rd, 2013 and it is for three months then it was issued around November 2012 correct?

If that's the case then the state department recognizes it as valid for one year from the issuance date irrespective of what the expiration date says. But maybe it's different for different consulates.

It was issued on Nov. 01, 2012 and the expiration date was Feb. 01, 2013. The expiration date is written on the PC also. I will go back again to the cidg office today to check if its ready if not then I'll just bring to the Embassy the old PC that I have.

  10. I will have my interview at Abu Dhabi Embassy, a while ago I just called the CIDG office and spoke with one police officer, he told me that they have a problem with their system that is why they couldn't issue yet the police clearance. Actually I am already thinking that once I go for the interview there might be a chance that I will be given a 221g form once i don't have that new police clearance. If in case I will be given a 221g, that means that I am approved but I will just need to provide the documents which are lacking, right?

Anyhow I will still try to go back there tomorrow morning to check for the 3rd time(still hoping for a miracle maybe I can get the PC even on the last minute before I go to Abu Dhabi tomorrow).

  11. Hello Everyone!

I have a question regarding my Police Clearance which I need to bring at the US Embassy Abu Dhabi for my K-1 Interview this week. My Dubai Police Clearance got expired last Feb. 1, 2013 but I applied for renewal last January 28, 2013 and I was advised to pick up the renewed clearance yesterday - Feb 3,2013. I went there yesterday to pick up the new clearance but I was told that its not yet ready and this morning I went back again to the CIDG Office but again I was told that its still not ready. I asked the police office there when it will be ready and i explained to him that I need it because I have an appointment at the US Embassy by Feb. 6 but he simply said "everyone needs it but we can't tell when it will be ready". It was really disappointing because they know that everyone in that office need their police clearance yet they couldn't even tell us the exact date that these clearance will be ready for unknown reasons (last time i applied for the Dubai Police Clearance the processing time took only 3-4 days as far as I remember).

Anyway, my concern is what if i don't get the renewed Dubai police clearance before my interview, do you think the US Embassy will consider if I'll show them the expired Dubai Police Clearance that I have along with my NBI Clearance? Will there be any chance that they'll consider it if i explain to them the reason why I don't have yet the renewed clearance? Worst comes to worst I am thinking of attaching the copy of the receipt and numbers that I have for that police clearance renewal as proof that i did applied for the renewal of the clearance last Jan. 28,2013 it just so happen that there is a delay in releasing the new clearance.

Thank you for everyone who will take time to give good answers / advice regarding this matter. :)

  12. MY HUBBY TO BE HAS HIS INTERVIEW SET FOR JANUARY 14TH AND I HAVE ALL THE PAPERS HES GOING TO NEED FOR THE APPOINTMENT, BUT WITH THE HOLIDAYS BEING SO DAMN DRAWN OUT I WONT BE ABLE TO SEND HIM HIS PACKAGE TIL IN THE MORNING ON THE 2ND. I CALLED MY LOCAL POST OFFICE AND THEY GAVE ME A QUOTE OF 3 TO 5 DAYS FOR A RESONIBLE PRICE IDK IF I SHOULD GO AHEAD AND SEND THEM OFF WITH THEM OR NOT????IM ALREADY PAYING FOR HIS VISA AND DONT WANT TO SPEND AN EXTRA 100$ ON SHIPPING WITH ONE OF THE BIGGER NAMES WHAT SHOULD I DO?????

Try Fedex, UPS or TNT the fee is a little higher but your Fiance will surely get the documents within 2-3 working days. Sending the documents by Post usually takes a week or two to arrive at the intended destination. If you really want the documents to arrive on time, its better to send it through a courier company, you can atlest track the documents online or thru their customer service number.

Goodluck on your Fiance's interview. :)

  13. Hello Everyone,

    Advance Merry Christmas.

I just want to ask, if my interview is set for 1st week of February 2013, is it alright if i go for medical by end of December? or should I just go for medical by 1st week of Jnauary 2013?

Another thing, lets say my I got the Visa Approval on February 2013 is it ok if I'll go to US by 1st week of April? I've been thinking about this because if i'll get my K1 visa by February i'll be filing my resignation from the company where i'm currently working, but i need to file a 30 days resignation notice (as per company policy). Once the 30 days resignation period is over, i'll have to wait for few days (or weeks) before my company could process my gratuity. clearance & employment visa cancellation so that I could finally be allowed to fly back to Manila where I am planning to stay for at least 2 weeks to visit my family before flying to America and be with my Fiance. Is there any rule which says that once the visa has been issued, the person who has that visa should immediately go to US?

Thank you for those who will give their advice. Have a nice day ahead! :)

  14. Hi,

You dont need the original passport if you cant get it since your employer is keeping it, a copy is fine and also the medical should be around 800-1000aed depends on what shot you need. If you dont have the vaccination record than you dont need to bring it with you. They wont make a big deal out of it. Mainly they will just ask you a couple questions regarding your health. Overall i think the embasy in Abu dhabi is really one of the best because they are not as strict as other embassy. Good luck...

I called up the 2 hospitals listed on the link given by USEM AD [Mideast PolyClinic & New Medical Center Dubai], both hospitals gave me a different rate that I need to pay for the Medical (Mideast Polyclinic - approx. AED900; NMC Dubai - approx. AED 1,500), makes me wonder why both are giving different rate. Where did you had your medical exam by the way?

  15. Hello Everyone!

Finally after several days of worrying about a wrong appointment letter sent to our e-mail by US Embassy Abu Dhabi, we finally receive yesterday the right appointment letter for us. I am now checking on the requirements for Medical, I called up one hospital approved by USEM AD and I was told by the hospital receptionist that i have to bring my original, passport, 3pcs 2x2 ID picture, payment of AED 900 and records of vaccination. My question is what if I don't have my vaccination records, will I still be allowed to undergo the medical? And lastly, when is the best time to have my medical exam if my interview schedule in on 1st week of February 2013?

Thank you in advance and God bless! :)

  16. Hello Everyone!

It's my first time to post a topic on this site. I just want to share what my Fiance and I have encountered today. My Fiance have received an Appointment Letter today for K-1 visa Interview for me from US Embassy Abu Dhabi via e-mail, which he also forwarded to me, but when we check and read the letter we found out that it was not for us because the recipient's name and case number indicated on the letter is far different from my name & case number. We are really surprised, disappointed and of course worried of what had happened. We tried to contact the Embassy through their website hoping to bring this thing to their attention (both of us send an email). We couldn't call the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi right now because most of the offices in UAE are closed during Friday and I'm not so sure either if the Consular section will entertain calls during weekdays(we have tried to call their number several days back to follow up our case prior receiving the said e-mail but all our calls are just diverted to an answering machine).

I wonder if anyone of you have experienced the same thing that had happened to us. I hope someone could give me an advise on this situation.

    Thank you in advance.
