  1. The petitioner sponsoring his fiancé has no income due to being a full time student, so the petitioner is using a Co-Sponsor to fill out the Affidavit of Support (I-134) with sufficient income.

If a Co-Sponsor being used and is filling out the Affidavit of Support, does the petitioner also have to fill out the Affidavit of Support as well? Even though petitioner has no income??

  2. When they wanted to speak with your fiancé they called you or her? And how many times did she they try calling her?

You started your k-1 visa process in July of 2012 and you've been now waiting over 2 months for her interview results.

That's a long time brother. Did something go wrong in-between, during the application process?

I was always under the impression that the females being sponsored (female beneficiaries) didn't wait as long as the men did.

How long did her interview last? Did she stumble during her interview, which may have caused a follow up call from them?

  3. It has been 2 months since the us embassy in Kabul has been forwarded the I-129 k1 visa file. I was always under the impression that they usually send the package out with the requirements for interview within approx. 2 weeks. It's been 2 months now and we still have not heard from them.

Is this a normal wait time? Should we contact them or will that only aggravate the situation further and possibly cause further delays?

  4. The mail in Afghanistan is super unreliable. NVC sent out package to the US embassy in kabul afghanistan about 10 days ago. I am assuming they will mail or have already mailed out the package to the beneficiary.

Can I email the Consular and kindly request that

    A) if documents were already mailed out can they also email them to an email address provided in the email

    B) if documents or package has not been mailed out, can they email them instead

Is this possible or would it further complicate things for them?

If it is possible what information should be provided to them when sending an email?

    Please help, thanks

  5. Congrats! Glad you explained the interview too, it's not a nightmare as some has made it out to be.

For what it's worth my sister's friend's husband was also in ap because he didn't complete his medical and they asked for some other document (forgot what it was). He went back about a week later with everything and dropped off his passport. He waited in kabul for 3 days then the following early morning he headed out back home to kandahar. In the middle of his trip he got a call to come pick up his passport with visa lol. Allah willing, everything will go very smoothly for you two.

  6. Here is the update: There was a misunderstanding due to her lack of english. Her husband was approved in june 2013 and they sent him the package. However, she is not resubmitting the package because she doesn't want her husband to get his visa while there is still zero progress for their children's case.

We called the USCIS and gave the receipt numbers for the children but they only repeat the samething that their application was received in Oct 2012, and that they can't give any other information because the case is with the National Benefit Center - National Benefit Center has no timelines available.

What can we she do now? I told her if she keep withholding her husbands package to move ahead in attempts to wait for her childrens approval then it's possible his case gets hurt in the progress.

Any advice would be appreciated. And if anyone shared a similar experience please do share.

Just before doing anything she should report that stupid lawyer to bbb.org and get her refund back then get help from another attorney or here you can get lots of help. And nvc number is 6033340700 and In case if you want their website to email them its http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3177.html oh and if you live in cali the best time to call them is between 3-4 pm. And eastern timewould be 6-7 pm they are open 7-12 am eastern time. And uscis number is 8003755283. Good luck with everything.

Thanks. I used the info you gave me it helped a lot.

  7. I'm trying to help someone out where they paid a lawyer and seems like theyve got ripped off. She has been trying to get a hold of her lawyer with zero call returns and when she walks to his office he's either gone for the day or out of town for the next day or two. This has been going on since May of 2013.

She filed for her husband and 2 children in August of 2012.

The notice that theyve received the application for both kids and husband was in Oct 2012

Her husband got approved in June 2013

Nothing ever changed since then. No approval notice for kids and no interview or anything.

She went to her local congressman's office and filled out the required paperwork for it to be looked into. Was told it will take 5 wks. This was 2 months ago.

Is there anything else she can do in terms of having someone look into the matter for her?

Can I or anyone else speak on her behalf if her English is not good enough?

    Petitioner: NYC

    Beneficiaries: AFGHANISTAN

  8. In trying to stay a few steps ahead our attempts actually backfired. We mailed the beneficiary's passport back to her (Afghanistan) so she can get the police report now while waiting for the package for interview instructions. We mailed it 3 weeks ago. A stupid risk taken knowing their mail service is unreliable (damn their corruption).

From asking around and even sending her to the local "post office" if mail isn't received in 3 weeks then it's likely missing!!! If she winds up never getting her passport, we will have no apply for a new passport.

Will a new passport, that is not the same original passport we submitted with I-129application, given during interview cause any issues or red flags? It's skating on thin ice during interview process and this is a bit worrisome.

  9. I read here where on quite a few occasions the beneficiary receives a phone call from the Embassy for instances like scheduling an interview date or to drop off their passport post-interview, etc.

Are these calls from the embassy normal? Or does a request need to be put in?

What happens if nobody is able to answer their phone call?

I am hoping it does not delay or hurt the file if call is missed.

I ask because the beneficiary shares her cell phone with her mother (mom on the phone 24/7) and she attends school 6 hours daily.

  10. When they ask you to bring original documents to interview which documents are they referring to? I'm confused as they have all our originally submitted forms

I was thinking the same. Hopefully you have photo copies of literally everything you sent them. If they have your originals take the copies of those with you. I was told you should bring photo copies of everything you submitted in case they misplaced something.
