hmm I'm surprised no replies from the last post.... anyway it was all exagerated lol. Do not get involved with licenses as you may just get rejected. What we had in the Philippines is an engagement ceremony. It was short of a wedding but at least her parents got to be part of it. No issues with the embassy. We considered ourselves pretty much married even before we had our marriage.

Why not have a wedding? While waiting for the K1 fiancé visa my fiancé decided to have a big one in her country. Actually I thought we were going to go through the whole process of applying for the license... I let her take care of that since she was adamant. After the wedding I come to find out I signed a fake marriage license. She is in the US now and since then we had to get married legally... (of course not fake papers). So if you want to make your spouse's family dream come true then by all means.
