Just wanted to let everyone know that my sister in law did in fact receive her visa as of two days ago.
She had her interview back in March and was immediately placed on AP with passport given back to her. The interviewer mentioned he would have to refer back to D.C. to get clarification. She brought the passports of her parents at the time of her birth which had the work visas in it, her current passport, birth certificate, police certificates, medical, and also the printed out rules on chargeability.
Nothing happened at all in the case. Honestly, we had given up that it would go through as discussed above in Depth. she emailed the embassy about two weeks ago as the September 30th deadline was coming....they replied saying the case was complete and surprise surprise they asked for her to submit her passport and updated medical. Passport in hand she's ready to go !

She holds a Dutch passport......

Lovely !

Hi Boiler
I guess you should brush up on your UAE law. A partner is not required in all businesses. Very common now to have 100% ownership.
I guess we will have to prove you wrong as you seem very sceptical.
-
Good point Susie , I will have her do the dv2017 as well...
-
Boiler : I did read it, did you? I don't think it is at black and white as you think. Have you gone through this?
Susie: I believe there was a drop down menu of some sort that said chargeability based on mothers birth or something along those lines. It wasn't an emarati company.
Raven: you are right . I think she will need to put everything on the table and see what happens. What's the worst that can happen, just the loss of the fee I guess.

Hi Boiler
Work permits doesn't mean residency according to the faq
We will see, like I said burden of proof is on her ....

Mother won last year.... She got her green card already. She is Dutch born in Netherlands.
The daughter just won, my sister in law, she was born in UAE. I need to get the dates of entry and exit, but yes they eventually came back to work. They were all on work permits....
-
Yep they moved back....p... In UAE, it's 80% foreigners with no path to residency or citizenship. If you are a foreigner you are working or a tourist, that's it. You lose your job, you have 30 days to leave or find another job.

It will be in Abu Dhabi. When my mother in law went last year it was very straightforward. Whole thing took about 20 minutes, staff were very professional. She had her passport back in 3 days and we were done. It was also DV, but my mother in law was actually born in holland. Let's see.....

Hi Susie,
Yep I need to get all those details. The burden of proof is on her, so we will need to see if she really wants to go through all the hassle. Honestly still surprised that she won... I will keep the thread up to date as we progress similar to my last ones, I hate incomplete threads..... Any experiences at the embassy would be helpful.....

Hi Susie
Thanks for the reply. I guess where I get confused is when I read the faq of the dv lottery.
Specifically questions 1 and 2. Your thoughts?

Greetings all....
Well shockingly I woke up this morning and checked my sister in laws DV lottery application and she has won. If you remember from my other posts, my mother in law and brother in law both won last year. They have both since landed in Florida and are enjoying their time. Now here is the tricky part for my sister in law.
Her background, she was born in UAE. Her mom Dutch, her dad Lebanese. In UAE, you can never become a citizen or permanent resident, so I am assuming every stay is temporary in nature. Being that, when we applied we chose foreign state changeability as Netherlands where her mother was born. Reading deeper into some of the posts, I am assuming She will need to provide a lot of documents around this. I couldn't find any experiences on what the interview will be like. Any experiences? Is she screwed ?
Thanks

My wife was breastfeeding as well and they waived most of the vaccines. No questions at the POE, so don't stress on it. Enjoy the move !

Hi everyone
Just to keep this thread updated. My mother in law and brother law completed the interview and have now landed in the USA. No issues what so ever. The landing was through Boston and was straight forward.
We are all in Florida ....
-
I thought I would update everyone on behalf on mother in law.
She had her interview in Abu Dhabi a couple days back and it was very straight-forward.
Documents we brought:
Winning Letter
Application ( I think it's the printout of ds260, can't remember)
High School Diploma
Police Certificate from EU and UAE
Bank Statement
Medicals (my brother in law was on the application as well)
Passport Copies
Two Photographs for mother in law and brother in law)
The Whole process took about two hours. A few questions on current residence, but nothing too difficult. If the documents are in order, then it should be quite straightforward.
Good luck to everyone..... we get the passports back next week.
Cheers,

Hi sorry, I should clarify, I used the email me option once I got to that confirmation page. That's all, you should be fine.
-
Almost instantly via email

Hi,
I had the same problem, but it was a deceased spouse. The instructions are not correct, fill out your form only and submit. You will receive a confirmation. Don't fill out the divorced spouses details.
-
Just wanted to give an update.
I never received an email from KCC so I had my mother in law complete it herself and put widowed. She was able to submit as well for my brother in law.
Mfumuke is correct, you don't have to submit all together in one batch, each person is treated uniquely. We did not fill out my father in law's and will not.
Thank you for all the help. Good luck to all the people in their quest to get a green card.
Best Regards,

Hi SusieQQQ,
Yeah I think that's the best approach for the time being. We have time it looks like, so don't want to rush anything.
Also, if y'all can help me it would be great, I am looking for some forums that talk about life after landing on a greed card. I would want to share that site with my two potential new immigrants. They have both visited the USA a bunch of times, but just to get the feeling from other's that have landed. I have not seen to many threads on "life after the DV lottery"
Thanks again for the all the help. Like I mentioned before, I will update, once I get a reply.
Thanks and Best Regards,
Billman

SusieQQQ,
You are correct, On her ds260 form, we have now put widowed.
However, it appears, in the new system, every person, even the people joining the primary applicant have to complete a separate ds260 form before we can submit. It has to be batch submitted together.
Correct me if I am wrong.... I have not gone past the sign and verify step for my mother and law and brother in law.
Thank you for the help as always.
Best Regards,
Billman

Yeah , I think the passport was it as well! She mentioned to me in Abu Dubai they do a two part interview. First part is a document check, basic questions. In this part , they wanted to reject her, but she had the rules with her, which was enough to push her to talk the consular officer . Good luck to anyone doing the chargeabilty route. Will try my best to answer any questions as there is not a whole
