  1. You do not need a SSN to get health insurance.

Well the thing is my husbands health insurance won't cost us anything because his work cover will the both of us and it's a 100% coverage with everything, but I will not do it with an SSN. And I mean k1 can get a SSN so I don't just want to accept this lady simply not giving me one because she doesn't think my passport is real:D

Go to a different office, this one is clearly too incompetent - if none nearby, find out who the supervisor's supervisor is.

    .

Can you just go to a different one? I thought you have to go to the one in your county and stuff. I mean I'm pretty sure the office in Denver which is like an hour would know better

  2. Ok people here is the thing, I need some opinions. Couple days ago I tried to get a SSN after I got married on my k1 visa. Brought in passport, I 94 etc. explained to them that a k1 can get a SSN and stuff. The thing is, the officer that reviewed my passport at the poe just kind of ignored me saying I'm here on a k1 and put wt in my passport stamp. She finally looked at my visa, realized her mistake and just scribbled over with a red pen. So the lady in the SSN office starts questioning why that is so. Even after explaining she wouldn't believe me because the visa was crossed out which is obviously due to it being a one entry visa. So I show her my i94 which of course states that I'm on a k1 and stuff and then she starts checking if my passport has it's necessary watermarks, now doubting the authenticity of that. Like it states federal republic of Germany on the front in German but in all other languages on the inside. So she starts calling me out because it doesn't state my country's name in English on the front side. I keep telling her what it means and even point out that the nationality on the k1 says GER but she just talks to her supervisor like: " well she says she is German but has no proof for that" while having my GERMAN passport in her hand. So she just hands me this paper thing that apparently some people get to prove the authenticity of my documents. So my question is: do you think I will be fine? Like is the dhs going to verify this no problem or will they also doubt? I'm super worries right now. I need to get health insurance but won't be able to until I get a SSN

  3. Ok guys I might sound stupid because this has probably been said about 100 times but yet I have so many questions and I really want to get this right..Just too important to mess up.

Ok so my finacé filed our petition at the end of October '13 and it got approved November 21, '13. Today (01/11/14)I received the letter from the embassy in Frankfurt, stating to collect all documents and stuff. I did all of this already to be on top of things. So the link for the visa fee still leads you to the Roskos & Meier Website, I filed a visa before and I just remember it being super easy. So after a while I found the right link to that CGI Stanley thing and my first question is, do I fill out the DS 160 on their website, do the visa fee and then schedule the interview? Or do I have to send in the receipt for the visa fee and the barcode of the DS 160, wait for the embassy and THEN schedule the interview? I'm just wondering what the correct processing with this is. It's super new so I can't really find anything online. And I still need to bring everything to the embassy what I sent in before right?

And my second question would be when to schedule my medical. Because I have a friend who just did the K1 process and she said she scheduled it when she received the package 3, but her visa was issued last spring and the paper I received from the embassy specifically says that its different since October '13 and that it should not be scheduled before instructed to do so. So can someone tell me when I get told to schedule it? Or should I send everything in and then schedule it?

As I said this has probably been explained before but I just need someone to tell me everything step by step, I'm so lost without all the guides and stuff.

Thank you so much in advance!!!

    Lots of Love frome Düsseldorf:)

    Mary

  4. Hey : )

So this question just came up because my fiancé and I were certain that we could. But I just read on other posts that joint sponsors are not accepted by every consulate (what exactly does that mean, or rather how do I find out which ones do?) and then others that say joint sponsors are only accepted in special cases(ok so what is that supposed to mean now) and at last that joint sponsors are pretty much never accepted.

People advise to just try to file the affidavit without the joint sponsor and just try to make it on our own, which is, I'm sorry but absolutely not helpful, because if we thought it goes through, well then we wouldn't need a joint sponsor in the first place. Or the advise to just get a better paid job, well that doesn't help me either.

It's not like my fiancé has no income, but his work is seasonal and well, he doesn't make a fortune. He is 20, so am I, therefore his assets are limite and I highly doubt his support form goes through.

His mom is our joint sponsor, she absolutely matches the requirements, but i'm just really really worried now. I'm a German citizen and would go the consulate in Frankfurt.

Can anyone help me at all? Give me any advise on this? Any experience, please, everything is appreciated : )
