wife’s middle name not in the marriage certificate
in General Immigration-Related Discussion
Posted
Hello Vj members.I’m not even sure if I posted it on the right place. My wife (enter as K1) and I got married last week and just today we received our marriage certificate, we went to SSA so that she can change her name on the card with her married name, but then the lady told us that they cant change it because her middle name is not in the marriage certificate. I remember when we applied for the license and ask the lady on the county clerk why she didn’t put my wife’s middle name and all she said was its ok. But now seems like were having issues with it. We weren’t able to change her SSN to her married now and when we return to the county clerk to tell them about our problem, what they said was that, they can’t do anything once the marriage certificate is printed, unless there is a court order telling them to do so. So we went to the circuit and even district court to ask information regarding our problem but none of them were helpful about it. They told us we need a lawyer to fix it. which is impossible right now for me to afford it coz its not that cheap. And we were planning to file for AOS soon but we’re worried that her middle name not on the marriage certificate will bring more problems. we even called the cabinet for health and family services of Kentucky to see if they can do something about our problem with our marriage certificate but they told us that they won’t have a record of our marriage until like 4-6 weeks. Hope you guys can give me some advice about it because I’m afraid my wife will be deported or so.
