That's not strictly true anymore. Anecdotally people are getting stamps "early" if they have a good reason (upcoming travel, job change, problems with dmv or a move)

I had an infopass in LA and they wont stamp my passport til I have 30 days before the extension letter expires. It sucks because it took me a lot of tries before I was able to get an infopass appt.

  2. These are great info! My GC expires Nov 14, 2016 and we are going out of the country on the first week December 2017. Looking at how slow CSC is processing i-751 I want to make an infopass just to be sure I get the 551 stamp when I go. I already had 2 terrible experiences at the airport check-in last December and May this year. They wont let me check-in and had to wait for like an hour while they call a bunch of people asking about my extension letter. They were asking for the passport stamp which I dont have since I already showed them my extension letter with expired GC. Anyhow, I tried getting an infopass but it keeps telling me that my case is still "in normal processing time" can someone tell me how soon can I get an infopass? How many months before my letter expires can i get an infopass? Thanks in advance

  3. Been following this topic and it frustrates me that CSC is still on the pile of June. My NOA1 date is Aug 29 but my GC expired Nov 30, 2016. I went out of the country twice with an expired GC and the extension letter. Both travel were a terrible experience as they wont let me check-in. They needed to call a lot of people before eventually checking me in. This coming December I will be going to canada again and I dont wanna experience the same thing. How do i get that passport stamp that people are saying? At the airport check in counters they are also looking for that. I hope someone can help me. Thanks in advance

  4. I went to Canada last December with an expired GC and extension letter. The ignorant/stupid lady in the check-in counter of WestJet didn't even read my extension letter and just told me "unfortunately, I cant allow you to go because your GC is expired. Usually, the GC comes with a sticker that says it was extended blah blah"... I kept my calm and explained to her that I am waiting for my new GC and it is in process and the letter states that. She still wont check me in so I asked for the supervisor. After like 45 mins in the counter with a bored toddler they checked me in. Contrary to my experience entering US from Vancouver, I had no problems. There's a US pre-immigration in Vancouver airport and the immigration officer just checked my letter and passport and let me go. So I guess immigration officers are aware and knowledgeable about these situations but not all airline employees at the check-in counters. I have an upcoming trip to Cancun, Mexico and I am hoping I wont go through that hassle again at LAX. God bless your trip.

  5. Hello VJ,

I am planning to apply for my citizenship shortly after receiving my green card. Currently, I am waiting for the conditions to be removed. Anyhow, I am just trying to be proactive and prepare my mom's documents so when I become a US citizen I wont have any delay when I file petition for her. My dilemma is that my mom doesnt have birth certificate. She was born in Manila, Philippines. She has baptismal certificate and his last name is spelled as DAUS. She got married with my dad and changed last name into REYES but her maiden name in her marriage certificate is also DAUS. But on my birth certificate my mother's maiden name was spelled as DAUZ. So all my life I have used DAUZ as my middle name. Fast forward to now, I am already married to a US citizen and changed last name and my maiden name is REYES (my father's last name and my mom's when she got married). My question now is, when I file my petition I will be required to show my birth certificate and on the NVC level, my mom will be required to show civil documents like birth certificate (which she doesnt have) but she has baptismal and marriage certificate which are all in DAUS. If anyone from the Philippines had similar situation or any idea how to solve this problem? My mom is telling me something like late filing for her birth certificate but she will asked to show other docs which she can but are all in DAUS. So im thinking even if she did the late filing her birth certificate will still be DAUS different from my birth certificate. Should I be the one to ammend my birth certificate? Thank u so much in advance

  6. Hello!

I was in the SS office and gave them my passport with k1 visa under my maiden name, my 1-94, my marriage certificate and the SS form.

But I already used my married name in the form and they wont let me apply until I have my K1 visa changed into my married name.

I dont know if that's possible, or even right. Does anyone has a similar experience?

Thanks and have a good day!

  7. Take your I-94, passport and marriage certificate (I had additional papers like birth certificate, noa2 from k1, etc with me but didn't need anything else) then google your closest social security office, go there, fill out the power work and you're done.

But important is that you have time left on your I-94. If it is close to expire they'll make you wait till you have your EAD at least or your greencard if you dint plan on applying for work permission.

    Good luck

(I got my ssn in my married name one week after I was at the office. I also would recommend printing out the paperwork online and fill it out beforehand. Google 'form application ssn' this will save you lots of time at your office since you can straight get a number and get in line and jump ahead of the hundreds of people that come unprepared wink.png)

    Hello!

I was in the SS office and gave them my passport with k1 visa under my maiden name, my 1-94, my marriage certificate and the SS form but I already used my married name. They asked me to have my k1 visa name changed into my married name first before I can apply.

I dont know if that's possible, or is it better if I just fill out the SS form again under my maiden name the same as the name in my k1 visa and declare single though im already married?

    Thanks!

  8. Hi there! First off, they will not send you any correspondence. Your interview schedule together with the list of required documents and accredited clinics for the medical will be sent to your petitioner. Secondly, in my experience, CENOMAR isnt in the list of required documents but I had it ready too as what the veterans here in VJ advised me. And during my interview, they didnt specifically asked for the CENOMAR but when she asked me all the documents I have she took the cenomar anyway.

I applied for a CENOMAR online thru this link http://nso.citizenservices.com.ph/cenomar . You can pay online or ask a relative to pay it at any bayad center. Once payment has been paid, they will deliver the certificate to your desired address of a relative. Ask them to send it to you here in Dubai via courier. That's your best option. it will take you probably 1 week if you start taking action now.

After you got approved they will ask you to come back after a week to pick up your passport with the visa on it.

  9. I have a Philippine passport but holding UAE (Dubai) residence visa. I was approved for a K-1 visa at US Embassy in Abu Dhabi . I am planning to take a flight to Los Angeles from Dubai, UAE with a 14-hour layover in Manila (cheaper ticket price). I wanted to take the opportunity to meet family and friends since the layover is too long…

Would someone tell me if it is a good or bad idea?

Will I have a problem in Manila Airport/immigration when I’m about to take the flight out to LA?

Because I remember, all overseas Filipino workers or those Filipinos immigrating to US are required to take the seminar they called CFO seminar.

Am I also required, even though I was there just for a layover?

    Thank you in advance!

  11. Even though my husband was living in Abu dhabi they still recommend us to register online for empost and they will deliver it to the nearest post office for him to come pick up, Here is the website https://usvisa-info.com/en-ae/selfservice/us_courier_information ..

Thank you for replying. I have sent an email to USEm in Abu Dhabi to clear things up as I wasn't adviced to register for Empost and go pick it up personally next week instead contrary to all the reviews Ive read here.

They replied to me saying that the Empost pick up services in US Em in Abu Dhabi has been suspended so I was really asked to come back to get the visa.

Anyhow, it's a bit inconvenient but it's just fine.

    Thank you and Regards!

    Mia

  12. My interview in US Embassy Abu Dhabi was yesterday and I got approved :-) I was advised to pick up visa in Abu Dhabi Embassy Wednesday next week. I live in Dubai and it's very inconvenient to travel to Abu Dhabi on a weekday bec I have work. Ive read some people were given options on where they can pick up their visa, I hope someone can tell me how do I register so I can pick it up here in dubai instead. Thanks in advance!

  13. Hi! Is there someone here in Dubai who could recommend where can I have low cost MMR, Varicella and TD adult vaccinations? Im done with my medical but my vaccines are pending since I still have time before the interview, the doctor suggested to get vaccinated in other clinics/hosp which is wayyy cheaper than them as it is embassy-dictated price. Those 3 vaccines would cost me almost $200 while in other clinics they said it would fall less than $100.

    Thanks in advance!

  14. Even if I answer all your questions, it may not be of help to you coz we have diff embassy.

I have no idea abt Doha but in Abu Dhabi, they sent us an email containing all instructions abt accredited hosp for the medical and required documents. All sent via email to the petitioner. Nothing to submit prior to the interview.

Required docs are the usual DS forms, affidavit of support and attachments, police clearances, photos and medical results.

As what I mentioned earlier, it may differ in Doha. You just need to wait for the letter bec everything you need to know will be there. Or I hope you find someone here in VJ who underwent K1 process in Doha.

One thing I learned in this process.. do not worry too much, wait patiently without grumbling and keep praying. :)

All will be beautiful in His time :)

  15. hi, im isabel, filipina. curently living and working here in Doha, Qatar. Since my interview will be conducted here in Doha and we're on a same case i thought you could help me out with my case since ive been so stressed and worried about our application.

But unfortunately until now i have not receive any appointment letters or Packet 3 yet from the embassy here in Doha. i am so worried be the cause of delay our process and im so lost what will be the next step.how long does it takes for you to receive your letter from the embassy upto the day that your case is approved for interview? i know your advise and tips will be a big help for me. so i want to say thank you in advance and hope to hear from you very soon.. God Bless and goodluck!! wink.png

    Hello!

We got our NOA2 SMS and email June 7th and received the email from US Embassy Abu Dhabi on July 7th. So after NOA2, we waited for a month to get our interview date which is scheduled on October.

If you already waited for more than a month, I think you have to try to get in touch with the embassy in Doha. Check the consulate info so you would know more about the possible time frame and how they send you the packet 3 and 4. It varies depending on the consulate/embassy.

If anything, dont hesitate to PM me here. :)

  16. Hi!

Just had my interview this morning... VISA APPROVED smile.png

    Thanks God! smile.png

But DS-230 part II was returned to me... is that normal? they said they don't need it....

    What a GREAT NEWS!!!

Honestly I dont have an idea about DS 230 part 2 being returned after the interview.

As far as I know, pages 3to4 are part of the whole DS 230.

I hope somebody else would shed some light about this.

Anyhow, I feel happy for you guys..

Hoping you find time to make a consulate review and tell us what happened on your interview.

    Regards
