I am a tad confused regarding your time line, it says you applied for the N400 in 2016 and applied for ROC in 2015, so why would your 90 days come around in 4 days time, since you already filed? Are you filing under the 3 year rule or 5 year rule and have you already applied and applied too soon?  Even so if you applied for ROC in 2015 and heard nothing that is nearly 3 years waiting, have you not done a service request, or info appointment or contacted an Ombudsman as it is so out of processing times that it isn't even funny!

Im even more confused as to why you dug up something that is a year old. I did 3 service requests which led to nothing. My problem was I went for my N400 interview and I was told I passed the test. In my service center mount laurel NJ they normally do the citizenship ceremony the same day but she told me she wanted some more info and would write out asking for it in a few days. A few weeks went by and nothing no a sound even my congress man couldn't get any information as to what they were looking for. So it ended up I had to go via the ombudsman to find out what she wanted which was another copy of my 2016 taxes. So i made a service request went down handed them in and got sworn in 2 days later.

  2. Ok so my job is thinking of sending me to the UK for a while however At present I have an N400 and I751 pending. Let me give you some background on this.

I-751 recieved by VSC on October 9 2015 Biometics were a month later then heard nothing until an RFE Sept 16 2016 which I replied back to to this date nothing yet from USCIS.

N400 then filed December 6th of this year. Did the biometics 3 weeks later. Now waiting on that also as I am now more than 3 years married.

Now my company would like me to work in the UK but I still will have the N400 interview to do. Any advise on this?

  3. Im still waiting also I751 filed October 9 2015 went to RFE last September filed N400 on December 6th and still here waiting. Had great issues renewing my driving licence yesterday they would only give me until my info pass stamp I551 expires, they used to give 90 days extra due to the new presidency that is no longer the case. Getting fed up here got my congressman on it and put in an Ombudsman case today.

  4. It was grand!

I took my extension letter, my RFE notice, marriage certificate (just in case) and my passport to the office. I can't seem to track down my expired green card which they do ask for but it's not a requirement for the stamp. I just explained where I was in the process and the lady took the passport and stamped it. She said that it would allow entry for up to 12 months and to make sure I take my extension letter and RFE notice with me when I travel.

The only thing that I'm worried about is that she asked me if I included a photocopy of my RFE notice with the packet. I said I hadn't because I wrote out a cover letter that included my case #and alien #. She said that may cause a delay. Felt like a bit of an idiot for not including it. Oh well!

Got a 1 year stamp today myself so im happy i got that. If i was you just to cover your ### send another packet with the RFE letter to the VSC you dont want them to use it as an excuse to say oh we didnt get it.

  5. My license expired in October of last year which was the month before my GC expired. The DMV initially extended it by three months when I got the notice about ROC process and then extended it to 12 months with the extension letter.

I just got the stamp in my passport today which gives me another years extension so I'm not sure what will happen with the DMV but I iwll send an update!

Great stuff was wondering how you got on

  6. Hi All,

Well I have an update. I got an RFE notice in the mail this morning. I am a little upset because of the length of time we waited to hear about an update but not surprised as I read on the forum that RFE can be sent as a delay tactic. My application is with the Vermont service center. Racing to send additional documents in asap. Docs I'm sending:

-Summary of my retirement that shows my husband as being the sole beneficiary

    - Documentation that shows we're in the process of buying a house

-I just renewed our health and car insurance so I'm sending those receipts in

    Any other recommendations?

Seems your not the only Irish peron who got an RFE today they must be doing a special on us!! As i got one today too.

What im sending in is heath insurance , life insurance policys showing my wife as my beneficiary and me as the beneficiary on hers , bank statements, copies of credit cards and 2015 tax return

  7. Hi All,

It's been a very long time since I posted on this board. I am still waiting for an update on my application. I filed my papers on October 22nd 2015 and had my bio metrics at the end of January.

    I am worried because

    A) my drivers license is about to expire in November and the DMV have said that they won't extend it without the updated Green card

    B) We are in the process of buying a house and I know I should update my address soon and I don't want to go it if it will cause a delay.

    C) My job requires me to travel domestically and internationally and the lack of updates is causing some anxiety about that.

I called USCIS this morning and was told that they are working on October 5th applications. I inquired about changing my address (I have to write them a letter to formally make that request) and about potentially having my application expedited.

It's just very annoying at this stage. A year is a very long time to wait for an update like this.

If its an issue go make an infopass appointment and get a I-551 stamp in your passport. Also you can just change your address online no need to send a letter. That same line gave me misinformation earlier in the week

  8. Absolutely don't wait any further if you are eligible to file N400.

There is still an ongoing debate on VJ whether the NOA extends GC 1 year from the date of the letter or the expiration of the GC but general consensus is 1 year from the expiration of GC. In your case 12/23/16.

I had assumed that only the 26 year "USCIS" vetern on the phone at Tier 2 confused the hell out of me, even told me to go do an infopass appointment

  9. What do you mean by Tier 2 escalated the case? Did he transfer your call to a Tier 2 supervisor? or just created a service request on your behalf?

You can file N400 while I751 is pending as long as you are qualified for N400. Check section B.2 at https://www.uscis.gov/policymanual/HTML/PolicyManual-Volume12-PartG-Chapter5.html

I exactly did this myself, applied N400 while I751 still pending. My I751 was approved along the way (1 week after I sent the N400 package to be exact), went to the N400 interview with the 10yr card and not a single question was asked on that part.

Didn't he say it was a tier 2 officer?

I spoke first to the first level they did the usual stuff they could only tell me what was on the website etc. I asked then to be transferred to a Tier 2 rep who told me the misinformation. He said he was USCIS officer. But im getting ready my N400 packet dont want to wait on them.

One other question my greencard expiered Dec 23 2015 does the I751 letter cover me until Dec 23 2016 or just my I751 filing date of October 9?

  10. You can't trust the Misinformation Line. Case in point. If you are still married to your USC spouse, you can file your N-400 3 years minus 90 days from the "Residence Since" date on your GC. Include a copy of your NOA1 for your I-751 in your N-400 packet.

Odd he said he was an USCIS immigration officer for 26 years. My 90 days is in 4 days time. I was going to start pulling all my documents together and getting it out next week.
